1. "Whats difficult understand?.....after Saturday, we will have played 3 ,what you might call difficult fixtures (spurs, arsenal, chelsea) & 6 winnable ones (everton, hull, southapton, villa, stoke and cardiff)..so the easier fixtures outweigh the harder ones 2-1. Therefore "if" we lose to Cardiff do you think its acceptable for us to be in the bottom 3?" Lets just go the whole hog, shall we? Arsenal are currently top of the league, so we''ve played arsenal and 7 easier fixtures. Jeez. There was a 12 point gap between 7th and 8th last year. There''s a huge gulf in class between the top 7 and the other 13 teams. I like the way you discount Everton as a team who wouldn''t be expected to beat us, and include Cardiff, who we haven''t played yet. It skews the figures nicely in favour of your argument, don''t you think? For the record, I won''t think it particarly acceptable if we lose to Cardiff and find ourselves still in the relegation zone. We''ll have lost to two games to newly promoted teams. It won''t be as disastrous as some would have you believe, but it''s not a position I''d expected to find us in.
2. " Cardiff on Saturday is absolutely critical for Hughton ,lose that, coupled with the fact that its Man City away next week ,we could be looking at being adrift in the bottom 3 after 10 games - over a quarter of the season. An no I wouldnt subscribe to the "we''ve had tough fixtures at the start of the season". By 10 games we will have played a fairly good cross section of teams from top, middle and bottom of the league. After 10 games you''re where you deserve to be." I''m really struggling to understand comments like this. Our fixtures up to the 10 game point will include 5 of last season''s top 6. That''s a horribly skewed set of fixtures. A truly representative set of fixtures would have us playing 2 or 3 of those teams. I also wonder if you''re worried about our last 4 games? By your logic it shouldn''t matter, but we all know it does matter. We need to be safe by then. The ignorance (wilful or otherwise) that some people are showing when they spout stuff about the fixture list not meaning anything is unbelievable. It''s crushingly stupid to think it makes no difference. A lot of it, I''m sure, is just another stick being used to beat the manager.
3.
To the OP: Hughton will be gone before Christmas.
Fancy a bet? If he''s not, you do one and never post again here. If he is gone I''ll do likewise. Or I''ll happily bet you £50 quid that he''s not. What say you?
4. Paul Scholes. Rightly lauded as the best midfielder around by some of the greats like Zidane, Xavi, iniesta. Ronaldo isn''t even the best player of his generation.
5. I''m sure plenty of saints fans expected nothing today, but that''s football for you. The most unexpected things happen sometimes. It was a dreadful performance vs spurs, by all accounts. I was working away, so missed it. The Chelsea''s game was a a different matter. In the end we were unlucky. If Pilks doesn''t mis hit the corner, Tettey doesn''t play the ball into Hazard''s path and Ruddy doesn''t let it squirm under his body, we probably go on to get a draw. That would have been an unexpected result, but we all know it happens. We got nothing from those 3 games, but last season we took points from spurs, Man U, arsenal, man city and Everton, against the odds. These things tend to even themselves out over a season, and like I''ve said I''ve seen enough to think that we''re going to get enough results. That might not happen. If it doesn''t then the manager will probably pay with his job, but so many fans seem to be making that judgement before its anywhere near happened. This season is nowhere near the disaster that some are making out to already be.
6.
"we are too defensive - hughton out~!""We are not scoring enough - hughton Out!""we want to be entertained - Hughton out!""We are winning games but its boring - Hughton Out!""we are being entertained but we aren''t winning - Hughton Out!""We are Too Attacking - Hughton Out!"what has it got to be to be ''Hughton in'' then everyone?
There is literally nothing that will satisfy this lot. It makes me feel bad for the next manager in advance if this bunch of troglodytes ever get their wish.
7. "My God, QH, you must be easily satisfied . I thought the "little old Norwich...isn''t it great to be in the Premier" people had finally disappeared. But clearly not. I''m really only concerned about results, and the Stoke game excepted, they''ve been abysmal. Maybe we''ll thrash Cardiff, then Citeh and then Wet Spam. But I just cannot see it happening with this setup. And, as yet you''ve failed to provide any evidence to instil me with any more confidence." Easily satisfied? No, not at all. I just have a sense of perspective, and can judge on more than recent results. I was highly disappointed with the result against hull, and gutted to lose to Villa, although it sounded like Guzan played a blinder to keep us out. Other than that, what have we had?... Everton...decent performance, and a point we wouldn''t necessarily expect to get. Southampton...average performance, but a great three points when you look at how well saints are doing do far. Spurs...a poor performance, albeit against a top side playing very well. Stoke...good team performance. Much improved cohesion throughout the team. Good win at a stadium that won''t see many away wins, albeit against an under performing stoke side. Chelsea...another good performance. We took the game to them, like many fans advocated doing. We looked good for a point, and could smell blood at 1-1, but a string of errors and a wonder strike did for us. Arsenal...not as good a performance as vs Chelsea, but still a vast improvement on the hull/spurs performances. Undone by a classy, clinical arsenal side scoring some wonderful goals. In 8 games we''ve played 4 teams that could/should make up part of the top 6/7. Two of them are title contenders, and another would be disappointed with less than champions league. In that time there''s been a noticeable improvement in the teams play. It hasn''t brought much in the way of results, but at least some of that is down to the opposition. If you can''t see that or accept it then that''s your problem. If you expect us to get points away at the likes of arsenal and spurs then your life must be full of disappointment. I''ve seen enough to think that we''ll be more than a match for the lesser sides in this division, and barring Man City we have a run of games up til Xmas that look winnable. I really don''t see any need for panic at this stage. Things are getting better, but some people seem intent on not accepting the things that are right in front of their eyes. Ultimately, you''re right. It''s results that matter, but how many results can you HONESTLY say you''re disappointed with or expected more. Villa and hull can really be your only cause for complaint.
8.
Thought not. Like I said, no tangible evidence that we are improved over earlier in the season. Not really interested in last season. What evidence I do see is shipping two late goals in each of the last 2 fixtures. I deal in facts,
So you don''t think we''ve played better in the last 3 games than we did in the no shows against hull and spurs?
9. "I''m serious. Provide me any tangible evidence that we are "improving "." If you can''t see that our play has improved markedly in the last 3 games then you either don''t watch the games or you''re an idiot. I consider what I see with my own eyes as tangible.
10.
Houghton
I don''t even think this one is joking.
11. Would the website staff even know who the pictures are? I''d just download the pictures, save them under a different file name and upload them. I doubt they''d even notice. No local printing firms that could do it?
12. " Not the most PC way to get his point across, I''m sure he now realises" For the love of god. There is NOTHING un-PC about mentioning monkeys in the presence of black people. It isn''t un-PC or racist to compare Townsend to the monkey in the story if the context is that he''s the biggest asset to the team, as the chimp was compared to the astronaut. It''s only un-PC and racist if Roy Hodgson intimated that Townsend was a monkey because he''s black. Get it? Got it? Good.
13. People are still using this as stick to beat the man with? Seriously? It''s meaningless drivel. The kind that every manager spouts before games. He says the same about every team, more or less. Jesus wept.
14. Forgetting the ridiculous racism accusations, what really concerns me is that the England Manager thinks the best way of motivating a team or giving instructions is to tell such a rubbish joke. I know Hodgson himself said he doesn''t give Churchill esque speaches but this just seems a rubbish way to make a point" England were playing well and had just gone 1-0 up. Why not keep the mood light? Hodgson has a decent track record in management. I''d say he knows how to handle a dressing room, despite what you might think of his methods. Horses for courses. I''m glad we''re kind of unanimous on what a ridiculous (non) story this is. This sort of thing drives me nuts.
15. "I remember a few kids starting to wear Blackburn shirts in the mid nineties after they won the league." I know a couple of lads, Norwich born and bred, who still support Blackburn to this day. It was always o vinous why they did, but I think they''ve kept it up because we''ve done nothing but give ''em hell for the last 18 years. I suppose you have to give them some credit for their sheer, bloody minded determination in the face of withering, unrelenting piss taking.
16. How the hell can they stop you drinking in the room?
17. Rubbish. Anyone with the power of rational thought knows that barring an absolute tonking against arsenal, the situation for Hughton remains the same, even if we lose. I also don''t understand why Hughton''s comments before games get over analysed. They''re platitudes, and nothing more.
18. A mate of mine has referred to him as Danny Welbad tonight, which just about sums him up.
19. This is a cracking game, but that first half shows how open and susceptible to the counter attack a team can become when they throw so much forward in attack. Poland could/should have scored, but England could easily have had 2 or 3. You have to love the way Townsend plays. Much like our Nathan.
20. "Hook, line and zinker!" So you''re finally admitting your trolling?
