  1. Horrible news for the player.   But, still, there is a telling contrast with all the Billy Sharps, Brian Gunns, Gordon Browns, et al who don''t just decide to retire after a personal tragedy.
  2. Always a big risk with this guy, who has a history of this sort of thing.   Also partly why I have West Brom in my relegation 3.
  3. '' "Are you open to playing on the wing here in Norwich as well, given that his coach Chris Hughton plays 4-2-3-1?"Yes, absolutely. I have played on the wing before [Bolton] and also in midfield in certain matches." ''   Good news that he''s still willing to play those roles.
  4. So, the plaintiffs for Bennett''s season-blighting injury are as follows:   Colin Teapot: 20 posts Stevie G: 37 posts Fried Cheese: 39 posts Ray: 50 posts   All low counts and all with short names unrelated to Norwich. So probably all the same person.   Extremely obvious troll is extremely obvious.
  5. Well spotted.   With Ayala and Barnett going/gone and the serious injuries to Turner and Bass last season, another CB must be nailed on.
  6. "They were waiting for us to get another body in. Now we''ve got elmander they are making there move."   Certainly makes sense with the timing of this.
  7. Mowbray showed interest in signing Becchio a couple of years back.
  8. "It maybe rubbish regarding these two, but I can tell you a first team regular from last season has requested a transfer. I haven''t got information as to who yet but there is some truth in a player wanting to leave!! Hopefully I can find out some more at hull on Saturday!"   Holt''s already gone.
  9. ICF, I seem to remember our goal was by Whitbread.
  10. "I was principally relying on other posters who referred to Elmander playing an attacking midfield role."   That''s because he did play attacking midfield for Brøndby, but that was 2004-2006. And many times as a winger for Bolton.   But primarily as a striker elsewhere.
  11. The Expressen article mentions a price of 5 million Swedish kronor (about half a million quid, I think), with the headline describing this as a "vrakpris" (bargain price, cutprice deal).   The article also mentions a foot injury troubled him the previous season. I don''t know whether this is now in the past.
  12. "Yea brilliant signing! Bolton record: 1 goal every 5 games! Get your heads tested"   If you''d bothered to do any research, you''d have worked out that at Bolton he was often played not as a striker but as a winger by a manager he didn''t much gel with.   Shades of Holt at Forest under Calderwood, where Holt managed just 1 goal in every 5 games.   Stats can be misleading if you take them all at face value.
  13. Very decent pedigree, will have no problem settling and so should hit the ground running. Looks a good signing to me.   A strike force of Holt, Morison, Jackson, Martin has now become Wolf, Hooper, Elmander, Becchio.
  14. "As a matter of interest which role of those two? The quick-footed Hoolahan link role or the powerful runner role?"   Sorry for the confusion, Purple, I''d meant the powerful runner.   He''s a strongly built lad. Laudrup regularly used him as the attacking midfielder for Brondby when they did the double, although of course he''s been regularly used since as a striker.   Hughton does appear to like versatility in a player (Whittaker, Olsson, Fer, etc.) and this surely only adds to Elmander''s appeal.
  15. "Toivomen can indeed play as an attacking midfielder, but not in that Hoolahan way, as a quick-footed link with the lone striker. Toivonen is much more a powerful straight-line runner from midfield".   And Elmander regularly played that very role under Laudrup at Brøndby.
  16. Quite right, Yorkshire.   Galatasaray''s Technical Director saying it''s a done deal with Norwich.
  17. Is this an award for Watling''s trousering?
  18. "But otherwise we should give the ball to Wolf in our own corner and get him to do 200 kick-ups. Will definitely improve his stats and therefore make him a better player..."   Classic!
  19. No problems from me about Hooton, least of all our style in the first game.   Playing Redmond was a bold move when Hooton could easily have gone for the safer option of the more defensive Olsson.   Really looking forward to seeing Leroy unleashed on Saturday.
  20. "we were 3rd on Saturday"   Damn, I''d set my recorder''s location as Norwich (automatically records from the end backwards and always misses the first 3 games).
