1. Scunthorpe United have given their manager, Nigel Adkins, permission to speak to Southampton about the vacant managerial post at St Mary''s. Adkins, 45, who has steered Scunthorpe to two promotions in four years on a meagre budget, has emerged as the man Southampton want to replace Alan Pardew, who was sacked last month. Andy Crosby, Adkins'' assistant manager, is expected to follow him to the south coast, but the two clubs have yet to agree a compensation package. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/sep/09/southampton-manager-nigel-adkins-scunthorpe
2. Any Norwich fan who seriously suggested a potential £5m pricetag on Chris Martin is probably high. As an Englishman I hope Wickham turns into the player he''s touted to be. He looks superb so far. I also hope Ipswich sell him before that happens, but who knows.
3. http://thirdlion.wordpress.com/2010/09/09/mark-robins/By my reckoning, some of the users of this board weren''t alive to see his glorious debut in canary colours, but who remembers it? A fantastic start to a fantastic season. Really do hope he does well with Barnsley.
4. I actually called this at about 4 this afternoon but left a message on Gough''s answerphone.
5. I have no interest in drinking before a game otherwise I''ll be up taking a p*ss every 5 minutes.
6. Nice birthday present. He is 30...*checks time*... today. Leon Barnett is 24. Given the likely wages, I''d rather have Barnett on a permanent deal, if there was a choice.
7. Probably the bit suggesting signing the geriatric, not good enough for League 2 Barry Hayles as a target man. But when you look at who posted it, it makes sense.
8. You don''t write if you don''t want it to be read. Why else do those of us with blogs put the links in our signatures? We want people to read them, and it''s the same with these match reports - and they''re well worth a read. And Banana, I''ve never seen someone try to hard to be controversial - you really need to grow up.
9. You can redo the 25 man list in January, as the window opens again.
10. Well I see everyone has responded to this with exactly what it deserves. A ridiculous op.
11.
The Brentford boys just laughed at him when he walked into the barroom. One of them got up ''n met him halfway ''cross the floor. When Chrissy turned around they said, "Hey look! ol'' yellow''s leavin''."But you coulda heard a pin drop when Chrissy stopped and locked the door.Twenty one years of crawlin'' was bottled up inside him.He wasn''t holdin'' nothin'' back; he let ''em have it all. When Chrissyy left the barroom not a Brentford boy was standin''.He said, "This one''s for City," as he watched the last one fall. And I heard him say,"I promised you, Dad, not to do the things you''ve done.I''ll walk away from trouble when I can.Now please don''t think I''m weak, I couldn''t turn the other cheek,''n Papa, I sure hope you understand:Sometimes you gotta fight when you''re a man."
Excellent song, the original of that. Not saying yours isn''t of course ;)
12. Be interesting to see what this is. Common Assault is usually a bit of nothing, a push or a slap or just a bit of handbags. Martin unfortunately has previous for being an idiot and it''d be nice if he''d grown up, but we don''t know what the situation is yet. Hopefully it''s just a bit of an overreaction by the recipient who''s pressing charges.
13.
I have been to a number of away games over the years and was promted to write in after the Gillingham away game last year when I thought a number of the fans were a disgrace. Most upsetting were the racist chants which showed what narrow minded and insular some Norwich fans can be. Most of the other away games last season were not much better although thankfully the racist chanting had dried up. I think some of the younger supporters and unfortunatley a small number of older fans, think they have something to prove and it makes them look hard when they abuse the other fans and stewards. I also feel certain that should these ''hard men'' come up against a number of opposition fans who did want a fight, they would fill their pants before running in the direction of their mothers. I am of the opinion that when you enter the ground you know what the rules are and if you don''t like them, don''t go.
Interesting. Can you elaborate on this bit?
14.

Promotion is conjecture. I suppose you have seen it in your crystal bollox?
I saw promotion last year in October, and I have seen it once again. Just because you can''t understand it, doesn''t make it wrong.[:|]
Prophetic. A new manager, we''d won some games comfortably, confidence was high, there was still most of the season to go - well, it''s beyond me how you saw that. Fancy sharing your secret?
15. We are playing very, very well by the sounds of things. Forest sound all over the place generally, and our midfield sounds like its doing the hard work that it didn''t do last week.
16.
has barnett got some pace about him? maybe that''s why PL has gone with him given the threat of earnshaw i''m concerned this could be an omission to far for jens though and i can''t say i''d blame him for being pretty annoyed and looking for options in Jan
Indeed. In his RN interview he was saying that his pace has got him out of trouble before. The thought of Earnshaw against JBA would genuinely scare me.
17. Sounds like Barnett has started well, closing down Earnshaw quickly.
18. So there we go. Lambert wants to play the 11 best players we have, and it seems that he doesn''t put Askou in that 11. I don''t either.
19.
Being treated better than Spillane was.....or Hughes
Eh? Treated better than Spillane? And how was he treated badly? He got injured, he didn''t get played, he got sold. Is selling a player that''s come through the academy bad form now? I didn''t realise it was treating someone particularly bad, to sell them. You''ll be pleased to know he''s proving Lambert wrong, by determinedly warming the bench at Brentford. I genuinely don''t understand why not playing a player who either isn''t good enough, or is behind a player who is better/in better form, is considered bad treatment. I like Hughes, I wish he played more. I assume that he isn''t doing enough, or Lambert doesn''t rate him highly enough, because he seems to be behind Gill, let alone everyone else, in the pecking order. Is this bad treatment? No. It''s called having a squad and only being able to play 11 at any one point, and you want the very best you have out there. If Barnett is the better player, play him.
20. Pretty  much that ^^Best player I''ve seen in Green and Yellow. Totally committed, a true fan and a joy to watch.
21. What a bizarre thread. What''s the treatment exactly? Being a backup? It is odd how some players reputations are enhanced the longer they are out. I have every expectation that JBA will be ok when called upon, but he is not close to being our best defender, and I think the man who makes the decisions is likely to agree.
22.

Bump!!!Don''t forget to give this a look Nana, and tell me what you think.[;)]
The first 2 minutes are just of hux running at defences and creating nothing. Then he starts to create some goals [y] But a good player can use both feet when ever, hux only uses his left when he miss controls the ball with is right -[n] This video is all well and good, but you wont see a drury tribute video showing all of the tackles he has made over his norwich career and especially how good he was when hux was ahead of him as he had no back up! [y]
You really are a moron.
23. That really is a quality video. Brought a huge grin to my face watching all his magical runs again.
24. Lambert said he was going to make changes, give players some minutes they aren''t normally getting. The only change I''m surprised by is Rudd for Ruddy, but thats still minor. Nice to see Francomb getting a game.
