  1. Honestly didn't see that one coming although Stoke have been better under O'Neill, surely WBA can't screw things up twice in a few days?
  2. WBA were so poor, they are really in danger of missing out now.
  3. Having been at the top all season it would demoralising for either Leeds or WBA to miss out now, Brentford though are on a great run and no one would want to face them in the play-offs.
  4. Over to WBA and Brentford now, can't believe Barnsley are bottom although they do struggle to score.
  5. In reality Derby can't get into the play-offs now so who knows how they'll play on Sunday and Charlton may still need something from the last game so that could be tricky which means a win is a must tonight. WBA seem to have lost their way though and will have to win both of their games I feel.
  6. This isn't done and dusted yet by any means, if Brentford win tonight (already 1-0 up) then both WBA and Leeds will feel the pressure.
  7. Thought Cantwell should have tried harder to close down the cross though.
  8. Sheff Wed could have points deducted as well so they could get dragged into the relegation mix.
  9. The thing that leaps out at me from that list is a lack of forwards, if Pukki is struggling or injured where are the goals going to come from?
  10. A sigh of relief, I would have taken a point after W Brom's draw yesterday so the win is a massive bonus.
  11. Thanks to Sir Arthur South's connection to my employer (R G Carter) I was given two tickets to the 1988 Cup Final and sat next to Jack Charlton, very friendly and funny guy who didn't mind me bombarding him with questions about his time with Leeds. The third Leeds legend to have died recently which is so sad given how close they are to the PL.
  12. Not over yet, it puts the pressure back on Brentford to win again tomorrow and for Fulham to win tonight but failure is still an option.
  13. Born and bred in Drayton, having been living in France since 2005, saw my first game at CR in 1968 (City Reserves) and have probably seen City 500+ times, had a season ticket at Leeds for 20 years but lost interest in football when we moved here and have only been to a few games since. All my family are season ticket holders in the City Stand so I get weekly updates, one thing they're all agreed on - losing every week is boring. What they say about Leeds fans is mostly true as the club is like a magnet for idiots.
  14. All set up nicely for another implosion, has to be automatic promotion as there is no way they'd get past Cardiff and then Fulham. If Norwich fans think they've got problems Leeds could seriously fall apart if they fail to make it this time, no Bielsa, no investment, no Phillips and now stuck with Costa on £30k a week+ for four years.
  15. It's a dilemma, do you cash in for say £20 million+ or keep in the hope that you come straight back up. Remaining in the championship beyond next season will see all the better players leave for less money than you'd get now.
  16. Assuming Brentford and Fulham win all their remaining games Leeds need 10 points from Stoke, Barnsley and Charlton at home and Swansea and Derby away. Brentford are a concern and we don't get three points tomorrow I can see them winning the league. As for Costa, too much money for a Championship player who will struggle in the PL. I'd have preferred Harrison who will be half the money if they go up.
  17. As an aside, Leeds sold Elland Road in 2004 to pay off debts after relegation and were paying £2 million+ a season in rent until the current owner (Radrizzani) paid £20 million to buy it back in 2017, without his investment the club wouldn't be where they are now.
  18. I don't accept that Farke's style can't work with the squad he has, just look at what Bielsa has achieved at Leeds with average championship players most of whom he inherited. What I think Norwich need are experienced PL players in certain positions who can help progress the likes of Aarons, Cantwell and Godfrey.
  19. The current owner has invested over £100 million in the club so far but if Leeds went up he's looking to sell for around double that to either QSI (owners of PSG) or to the family who own the San Francisco 49ers as they have already got a 10% stake in Leeds. I think the hope is that once Leeds are established in the PL then the Leeds United 'brand' will grow and the value of the club will therefore increase. There is a fly in the ointment though, Bielsa is not thought to be part of the long term plans but is seen as a 'god' by the fans so any moves to get rid of him will cause a huge backlash.
  20. Leeds made an operating loss of nearly £40 million last year, however the current owner will make a huge profit on his overall investment if they are promoted and he sells which has always been his long term plan.
  21. There has been much discussion about 'ambition' so I'm going to throw this out there - does it suit Delia and Michael to be relegated? If by some miracle Norwich stay up surely the team would have to be strengthened requiring significant investment, what would the owners do then?
  22. After last night's results promotion is still in the balance for me, I still think 85/86 points will be enough but with Brentford on a great run it could go to the last game.
