1. my problem with holding a parade and reception is that it kinda belittles the achievements of the past, and those we have in the future. The last promotion season was a real achievement, and fully warranted the celebrations we had. At the time it felt like it was the best time in our history. We didn''t have a parade when we finished third, or after the uefa cup run. These were far greater times than winning league one. This season we have just corrected the wrongs inflicted on us by Grant, Roeder and Gunn. Yes, we''ve done it in style, and Lambert and the entire team deserve all the credit they''ve had. And I''ve celebrated like a loony as we''ve steam-rollered this division. But a parade not only opens us up to ridicule, it perpetuates the ''little old norwich'' mentality. Championship football is the MINIMUM i expect, and getting back there, in the context of our history, should not celebrated so wildly. Having said all that, i will still go to the parade, and probably sing my heart out, if only so that my lad doesn''t miss out. I just think it''s really not appropriate. I appreciate that i''m in the minority in thinking this way, but i hope that in 30 years time this isn''t a season that i''ll look back on with any great affection, just a sense of satisfaction at doing the job required. And as for it being an opportunity to allow those who don''t make it to many games a chance to celebrate, surely they''re no more likely to able to attend this, than Carrow Rd on a Saturday?
2. Can''t say i''m afraid, but am 95% certain. Must say i''m surprised it''s not the Monday.
3. The date for the civic reception has been set for Thursday week, the 13th. Not entirely sure but it would appear that there''ll be some kind of parade as well. Sorry if already posted somewhere!
4. Yes, but it''s MY easy money, so hands off [D:] Hopefully market will go same way as the Burnley job. Made a packet taking peoples money long after Lambert had ruled himself out!
5. Got mine from ticket office this morning. Definately still available.
6.
You are wrong and misguided in just about everything you say. 1) The Club paid in previous seasons and has been making "contributions" for many years. 2) It''s nonsense to expect to be able to arrive at and leave matches in a safe manner is it? 3) I personally have witnessed a number of near misses involving cars, buses and HGVs. 4) The Club (as an Events Organiser) has a statutory obligation to produce a Traffic Management Plan and, to the best of my knowledge, has not done so this season. 5) I wasn''t aware that anyone had been incensed by playing a game with a sprinkling of snow. As far as I am concerned, a match should be played whenever possible, particularly at Colchester when I am getting soaked to the skin! 6) I am reasonably confident that I am able to remain safe as I have seen some of the potential dangers and do what I can to avoid them. However, complacency often plays a major part in tragic events and I see little point in changing procedures that have operated successfully for countless years merely to save a few pounds. I have been advised that the saving the Club has made is sufficient to pay the wages of ONE FIRST TEAM PLAYER FOR ONE WEEK. 1
1, So McNally''s lying is he? 2, You shouldn''t ''expect'' anything. Take rsponsibility for your own actions. If you''re that worried about your safety, stick to the pavements, or wait til the crowds have eased. 3, So i''ve seen nothing all season, and you''ve seen a ''number'' of near misses. You should run a neighbourhood watch with your ability to seek out drama. 4, This is just pure speculation isn''t it? Do you actually know what a ''traffic management plan'' is? Or are you just making another unfounded statement (see point one)? 5, Check out the threads prior to the game at home to Exeter. Seemed like half of Norfolk was terrified that they''d die if they had to make their way to Carrow rd in the snow. 6, So if you''re so confident you can remain safe why make such a fuss. Yes, complacency can lead to tragedy. So DON''T BE COMPLACENT. It''s bad enough having health and safety fascists trying to control every aspect of life, withput people like you playing right into their hands.
7. So who paid for the traffic wardens who closed the roads in previous seasons? Neither crowd size nor road conditions have changed, so i don''t see there being any case for the club to have to stump up money to shut the roads (unless of course we made a contribution last year). Both the Council and Police manage to waste millions each year on offices full of pencil pushers. Let them find the money to finance traffic wardens for a couple of hours every other Saturday. Once more, well played McNally for resisting this nonsense. This has nothing to do with ''common sense'', and everything to do with public sector institutions being unable to control their resources adequately. Personally, i really don''t see what the big issue is. For 3/4 of a season there''s been no serious incidents that i know of. Yes some people might drive like idiots outside the ground, but go to the City Centre any night of the week and you''ll see worse. No doubt those making such a fuss about this issue are the same people who were so incensed that we dared to play a game whilst there was a sprinkling of snow on the ground a few weeks ago! Whether your elderly, able bodied or disabled, you make your own decisions based on your own circumstances. I walk with my son to and from the ground each game, and there isn''t one iota of danger.
8. I just did the bbc score predictor thingy. I entered the most pessimistic results i could (from our point of view), with us winning 5 and drawing 3, and losing all of the ''big'' games we have left. I predicted Leeds,Charlton,Swindon and Col Who going on storming runs til the end of the season, winning almost all of their games with the exception of when they meet each other. Even accounting for all of this the final table showed us missing automatic promotion by just 3 points. So given that none of the teams around are us are good enough to actually go on such a run, i think its safe to say that another 18points would be plenty. In fact, if we can get 3 points v Yeovil, followed by a single win in any of the next 3 games, i''ll pretty much rest assured that promotion is in the bag. The one thing i did notice however, in terms of getting the title, is that Leeds seem to have the easier run in of the top 5 clubs.
9. Just for that ''couldn''t give a f***'' look on his face at Charlton away last seaon, he deserves every second of abuse he gets.
10.
smashing records for the wrong reasons ,,, then the right ones ..!! im fairly confident ,we have 3 players and the doc scoring for fun ,transfer window is shut ,we are top and leeds and charlton cant stand the pace . all looking rosey in the canary garden. we must enjoy this moment ,and long may it live on . city you are doing everyone with green and yellow blood very proud . someone book the open top bus, and lets get ready rock the yellow and green party.
I agree that promotion is all but in the bag now. But if we win the league, there should not be an open top bus celebration type thingy. We''re in the 3rd tier, and promotion from this league is a far cry from our last promotion. To have such an over the top celebration would just reinforce the ''little old Norwich'' mentality. It''s harsh maybe on the current crop of players and management, cos they weren''t the wasters who got us here, and they deserve every credit for turning the situation around. But surely we should still send them the message that Championship football is the least we expect. Back to back promotions -now that''s worth a parade!
11.
Just never really worked out for him here. Despite what some of the experts on here say he''s obviously not that much of a bad player or otherwise he wouldn''t have played the number of games he has or be moving to another decent club like Southampton. Ability wise he''s probably better than Martin and definitely better than Spillane but he''s very rarely been able to apply it and do the business on the pitch.
Yes but he played all of those games as part of the worst team in our history, under Roeder and Gunn. Didn’t take Lambert long  to figure him out did it? And it doesn’t matter how much ability you have when you’re as lazy and stupid as Otsemebor!
12. Martin had his poorest game yet for us yesterday, but was still looking for the ball rather than hiding away. Even on a bad day, he''s preferable to a thousand Otsemebors.
13. Not an over reaction. Marshall really was bad, and we would not be in league one had he not cost us so many points. I mention flaws in Forster’s game because people on this thread, and others, seem to consider Marshall better than, or at least comparable to, Forster. To be so poor, he surely has to have some serious flaws, and I’m curious as to what they are. I take, to an extent, the point that Forster is playing in a lower league, but this doesn’t apply anywhere near as much as it does for an outfield player. You can generally spot a decent keeper at any level of the game. Half the battle is looking the part. Forster’s body language and demeanour is excellent, whereas Marshall, as has been pointed out above, looked like he didn’t want to be here. I really would like Forster to be given a little bit of credit for the role he’s played this year- he deserves it.
14. 1. Jon Otsemobor 2. David Marshall 3. Dickson Etuhu
15.

Sorry Edward, I have to disagree with you there; I''d say that both are reasonably decent keepers, but Marshall is and was far too prone to making stupid howlers - of course he made decent saves for us but was also to blame for plenty of goals in our relegation season. Forster makes the saves but to-date can really only be blamed for the odd mistake. One of the main things you want from your keeper is consistency and that is what you get with Forster but not with Marshall.
I don''t really think you can draw a comparison at the moment, there is a big difference in the standard of the divisions they are playing in. They are both young with only 3 years between them. I think Forster is also 3inches taller, does he seem more intimidating though? The only way I can guage who I think is better is which one I would pick in a one off game that the result was dependant on, and I think Marshall would edge it right now. It is hypothetical and irrelevant. Only time will tell.
Some Norwich fans amaze me. Comparing Marshall favourably to Forster?   David Marshall is the worst keeper EVER to play for us. That includes Theo. He only played one game, Marshall was pap for two whole seasons. He cost us game after game, and yet still people defended him to the hilt (and still do it seems). Although relegation obviously wasn’t entirely down to him, we would have stayed up with even a mediocre keeper. Then Forster comes in, barely puts a foot wrong, and seems to get no credit whatsoever from some fans. What exactly are the flaws that people identify in his game that make him inferior to Marshall? One sliced kick at Leeds? He know his kicking needs working on, but I’d rather a keeper that can’t kick than one that’s glued to his line and spreads panic amongst all those around him. Forster looks composed on crosses, dominates his box, makes key saves and looks alert. Marshall just looked like he wanted a punch. The two are beyond comparison. And the suggestion that Forster is not as intimidating is laughable. Seriously. You couldn’t make it up. I would quite confidently predict that Forster will be one of the top keepers in the country in 5 years time.
16. you can get 28/1 for a holt hattrick at blue square! also 9-0 is 500/1, 8-0 is 375/1, 7-0 is 125/1 at paddy power. Unlikely, but those odds are way too generous. I''ve also had a dabble on 6 or more goals in the game, 10/1 at partybets.
17. Polston versus Villa. I really believed we would win the league when that went in.
18. Jesus, Marshall made howlers in practically every game last season, and was for some reason beyond criticism. Forster had a great game last night (and has generally been solid all season), spoiled by one poor kick, and people start talking about dropping him. Bearing in mind he''s got the worst defender in our history back in the team, i think we should cut him some slack.
19. How about Askou to score any time at 19-1 at Betfair! Due a goal, and never gonna get subbed.
20. The shot that hit the bar at the river end against Inter Milan. Would have squared the tie. Think it was Chippy (or did he blast the rebound over?).
21. Sorry, could you enlighten me as to what his ''abilities'' are. I really must have missed something over the past 2 or 3 seasons. Worst right back in history? I think he''s got a fair shot at worst player in our history.
22.
He was involved right at the end, beating his man and shooting, he nearly won it for us and would have done if his shot wasnt blocked, it was on target and heading for the corner.
Yeah,he always ''nearly'' does something every game. Usually a searing run down the right followed by a p!!s poor cross. For their 2nd goal, he ambles back in his own good time whilst they''re breaking dangerously, then when he finally makes it, he allows his man to nod it in without even having to jump. Absolutely disgraceful. Had he, by some miracle, scored in injury time, i''d be saying the same thing. He is a cancer within the team, and needs cutting out. It truly amazes me how he''s pulled the wool over managers'' and fans'' eyes for so long. Lambert is no fool; it won''t be long before he kicks this scumbag out.
23. Sorry Gareth. You''ve been sold a real dud there. But you''re not alone; you should see what Hartlepool palmed off onto us! Come back at the end of the season and let us know if you still think he''s brilliant!
24. Quite like that team actually... I''d keep faith with Semmy in that formation, I think that run in the first 10 mins in Colchester showed how destructive he could be. Think we need CBs that are quicker than cruise ships though... We can only hope that Askou can at least keep up with Clive Platt, Unlike Doc and Nelson. Also would liek to see Cody starting upfront, and maybe Hughes instead of Gill. But I think this would bring a welcome change of formation to the side.   Yeah Semmy is destructive. Oh the Irony! Hound the lazy scumbag out of Norfolk.
