1. They are very impressive odds, Nigel. Kudos to the man.
2. I used to live practically next door to the Trafford Arms and it is quality. Love the place.Might be a bit harder to find than the coach and horses, mind.
3. It''s also known as arbitrage, and is easier now you can have multiple online accounts and can take advantage of bookmakers differing odds. It''s not something you can make a living out of alone, as you need other tactics in your arsenal to really make a living here, but it helps. And you''re right. The discipline you need is immense. The desire to chase losses, only bet on big odds and so on - most people can''t do it, so most people bet for fun. Those that make money treat it like a job - not entirely fun, full of hard work and effort.
4.

how to treat it more professionally, to make money a bit more consistently than most punters.
Best of luck mate. Ive got an old friend who is a professional gambler but he makes his money on the margins ( i.e.the slim differences between backing and laying prices). Bloody hard work by all accounts and you need to be very disciplined. that means you don''t really gamble at all but just pick up your £25 and £30''s on the margin.I see many shops closing in the High St. but none of them are Bookmakers.
Absolutely right - picking up money on margins is not exactly glamourous work but hugely valuable. Small amounts really form the bedrock of any pro-gamblers income stream.
5. With a Norwich based bookie, it''s worth noting that I live in East London. I like to keep multiple accounts open with as many bookmakers as possible - you get many more hedging opportunities, arbitrage opportunities, and just better odds. I don''t want to deflect attention from the good work that goes on in the other thread, but I started this more for me to concentrate on Norwich based bets - I''m sure both threads can offer something of value to you all! With regards to the Sheff Weds bet, I selected them entirely on recent form under their new manager - they''re good value given that they''re in form, at home, against a fellow threatened team. As for Derby/Forest - these matches will always be tricker - this is the main gamble of the accumulator. But I''m willing to bet that Derby''s poor form, and Forest''s almost unnoticed rise up the table, will see a win for Notts. But you''re right - this one is trickier. As for whether I''ll keep this going each week - absolutely! I''m going to keep going with the bank and update it after each bet, so we can see a running tally of how I do. I''ll also be adding and passing along certain things that I find/write in my job - specifically relating to betting tactics (dutching, laying etc), and how to treat it more professionally, to make money a bit more consistently than most punters.
6. Accumulators These are good fun but I don''t take them too seriously, mainly because I approach betting like a job - accy''s are a bonus that only comes in once every now and then. However, I''ll be happy to put up what I would go for each week, starting with this weekend: Derby vs Nottingham Forest Sheff Wed vs Plymouth Liverpool vs Bolton Charlton vs Tranmere £10 @ 7.73 = £67.30. If anyone isn''t sure about decimal odds, click here.
7. Use any bookmaker you like, I just mainly use those two. Also, any bets, of course. But my updates will predominantly be about Norwich, simply because it''s on this forum. I make most of my money elsewhere, but this is a nice way of making city games more interesting.
8. Seeing as betting is my industry, I thought I''d pass some time by starting a Norwich City wager thread. I shall post a running track record of all my results from this weekend on, so we can see if I remotely know what I''m talking about, and we can keep this thread open for other peoples tips and thoughts. Yeah? Cool. I''m going to start this with a theoretical bank of £200. Most betting banks start higher, especially when you work with professionals, but lets keep it modest in here. Hopefully we''ll see that rise. Each bet will work on a points system, at increments of £5. Therefore, 1 point = £5, 5 points = £25. This means some bets will have more weight behind them than others, depending on how confident I am. It''s also worth noting that I will be placing all of the bets I suggest.  Now the housekeeping is done, this weeks action... Norwich vs Hartlepool Hartlepool, a team with one win in eight, against Norwich, looking for a record breaking 11th consecutive home win - there is only one outcome. As such, the price on a Norwich win is a ridiculously short 1/3, offering little value. However, it is free money, so if you''re inclined to put £30 on it, you''ll at least come away with £10 interest, which can''t be sniffed at. I''ve done this a few times, and it''s a good way of boosting the betting bank by small, consistent amounts. Just be wary of an upset. For me, I''m looking at two bets. First of all, goalscorers. For some reason, Grant Holt is still listed on Bet365, so try to avoid that one. You can get a very attractive 11/10 on Chris Martin to score at anytime, and in the form he is in, I fancy him to carry on his goalscoring run. At just over evens, you''re doubling your money, and I''m going to put 2 units on this - £10, Chris Martin to score, anytime @ 11/10. Secondly, I''m looking at Half-Time/Full-Time winners. Norwich are notorious for coming out strong in the second half, which can leave it to be a risky game putting your money on them to be leading at Half Time. Saturday, however, I''m prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt. The weak nature of this Hartlepool team, unlike Brentford last week, leaves it much more likely that an early breakthrough will be made. So for my second bet, I''m going for 4 units - £20 on Norwich winning HT/FT at 4/5. Bank: £200 Current Exposure: £30 Neither of these are get rich quick bets, neither are going to make you fortunes overnight - but that isn''t the plan. Consistent wins like this rack up in no time. Lets hope I''m off to a good start... Your tips? Your suggestions for this weekend? Questions? Good.
9. Administration is to be avoided, at all costs. End of story.
10.
Funny old business football.  The odd thing about The Tinpot Club v The Very Famous Club Wot Once Beat Bayern Munich yonks ago is that we actually LIKE our owner unlike the majority of posters on here some of whom, whether the Very Famous Club is promoted, will be enshrined in a forthcoming Guardian G2 piece including the messages which Archant were not quick enough to delete but which we screen grabbed before they woke up (Wiz you know what you did on Gunn''s living daughter is but one example). Working title is "Let''s be havin you? Actually they don''t want her at any price." If you go up that will have even more impact.  Good luck for the rest of the season.[:D]
I like how you keep name dropping G2. I''ve seen it a few times on here. But you''re actually going to run with a ''nasty comments are found on an interenet message board'' story? The shocking news that some unhinged people post unpleasant things and that responsible companies go out of their way to remove them? This hasn''t been done before? This isn''t the most obvious thing that the democratisation of the internet has achieved - a speakers corner for the deranged and overzealous? I''m surprised, though I shouldn''t be - news is all about cycles, after all. I do like your rhetoric though - find me one post on here that says we''re a big club because of a win 15 years ago and I might give you a little credit.
11. Going to administration when trying to sell moses is the worst thing possible. It''ll knock down his price as the administrators are now the ones to accept the bid, not the chairman. And if they were found to be going into admin tactically, they''d be treated the same as Leeds when Bates did it on relegation day.
12.
Talking about the performance of crap sites, how''s ''Huckerby''s Boots'' coming along?
heh
13.
Bromley. Sarfffff landon mate.(I was born in Nelson''s county though!)
Oh Aye. I''m in Sydenham, myself. For 5 more days...moving up to Bromley-by-Bow shortly...Also from Norwich, mind.
14.

Given that the News Of The World is a News Corporation publication, is it possible for us to take our legal action through the American courts? The payout would be much bigger - potentially millions.
It''s not only the NOTW that could get sued, it''s anyone who repeated the same thing, libel law is a wonderful thing
Libel law is an absolute joke in this country, but at least we can use it for our gain this time.Very nice to see them come out in such terms.
15.
"it really was like being in the valley of death at some stages of the game."
Charge of the Light Brigade.
16. I was talking to a Fulham fan last night who was explaining how most Fulham fans were very happy to see the back of McNally, as it was at his behest that Sanchez was made manager.
17. OJ is a good signing... and there were many on here who doubted that when he first joined.
18. A stable defence is the bedrock of a team. The back 5 are absolutely solid.

21. I work in the betting industry and I''d been considering starting a permanent Norwich City betting thread...
22. Tom Adeyemi was labelled ''the next steven gerrard'' on my FM10 game. True story.
23. Are you really suggesting that Alan Greene, one of the worst commentators around and no more than a tabloid sensationalist, is a good person to ask about the standard of premiership footballers?
