1. Suggest you get on the phone to the club and tell them to make a move. (I am being serious, do it).I rate him too myself, have seen him play a few times (not live, on streaming).Looks like a great prospect, and the sort of player who we could really use over the next few seasons.Perhaps Jonson could have a word with him and get him to come to us instead of his old club Brondby.
2. If selling him is the answer, what''s the question? If he is sold it will go against everything the board have been saying since his arrival. (ie. We don''t need to sell anyone, Ashton is not the Messiah etc.)Particularly if he is allowed to leave for £4m, that would be a terrible deal.£7m-£8m would be acceptable...
3. Even if Helveg stays or goes, we need to sign at least one right back. We can''t go into a 46 game campaign with only one right back on our books, particularly when that one right back is 33 years old. Ryan Taylor from Tranmere and Phil Jagielka would do nicely.
4.
my view is we only need new players for the ones we loose, who were an important member of the first team squad. Edworthy leaving means we need some sort of defender the departure of stuart calls fo...
Wow. That really is a radical plan, HNC.
5.
I have been travelling for a little while and am in Singapore, have been following the results very closely. I have booked my flight and am flying home tonight ready for the game. Got my tickets and a...
I trust this will be your first away game of the season, which would then be a good omen for our first away win of the season?
6. I could see Ashton going. Shacks isn''t even capped for the U21s!
7. They''d remove the roof, slap the front of the new tier on top of the boxes and go from there. Then put a new roof on top of the second tier. I believe that before they do anything with the new stand, they''d put a second tier on the city stand. This would mean removing the roof, and expanding the stand backwards into the road behind. Would be good to see them expand the snakepit and other corner stand at the same time...
8. I think it''s actually the fans'' naivity that makes us worry about him. Screaming when he''s closed down on the ball just confirms this! We''re not used to seeing a player of his quality in our side. We''re used to seeing Edworthy/Steeno etc pelt the ball aimlessly up the pitch, and we''ve come to expect that from our full backs (Drury still does it). However, Helveg is a totally different proposition, he must be the most composed player in our squad, he''s calm on the ball and looks to pass the ball out of defence instead of pelting it. We just need Safri or Francis to drop inside and give Helveg the option of a diagonal pass out of trouble, and then we''ll have a route out of defence every time. Helveg is a quality player, you don''t go to numerous International Championships and captain your country if you''re not. If he''s given options he''ll almost definitely complete the pass, and we''ll go on to form an attack.
9. I have a feeling that it will be one of the unsung heroes who will keep us up. I can just see Jonson scoring the winner against Fulham securing our Premiership place. He scored a key goal for Sweden in Euro 2004, I just have an incling that he''ll do that for us too.
10.
On personal ability... Neimi vs Green - Neimi Bernard vs Drury - Bernard Delap vs Helveg - Delap just edges it Lunderkvam vs Shackell - Shackell Jackobson vs Fleming - Jackobson (not that he is g...
Are you serious about Bernard and Delap? They are shocking!Bernard looked OK at Newcastle but really is poor.Quashie is all run and no skill, like Holt.I''d only say 2 or 3 of theirs would get in our team.
11. Please do explain to me which of Southampton''s players are better than their Norwich counter-parts? I''m at a loss as to which of their players have the "extra ability" to give Southampton the edge going into Saturdays game. Not only do we have the better team spirit, I think the majority of our players are better than theirs!
12. That''s not how the fairplay league works though. Many other criteria than just the Yellow/Red cards. I think we''re still 3rd behind Chelsea and Spurs.
13. A sub scored the winner, I''d say that tactical change had an effect. In case you hadn''t noticed, we''ve just got 10 points from the last 12. Stop finding something to moan about and support everyone connected to the club.
14.
Everyone is saying about the Safri goal being goal of the season. Does anybody remember the goal (Sorry I can''t remember who scored it or the match it was in!) that one of the Norwich players kicked o...
That was Ashton against Man City. Certainly was a great goal, but it didn''t even win Goal of the Month on Match of the Day (because Schmiechel picked the top 3 and NO-ONE in the UK agreed with him!) Safri''s was good too, but think Edman''s will get the vote because he plays for a big club.
15.
So that we don''t get sued basically.
Aren''t you able to put a disclaimer saying that the views expressed on these boards are not those of Archant News and it''s affiliated yada yada yada?
16.
He did too set up both goals, though "set up" for his short pass to Safri for his 45-yard exocet is a bit misleading. I would love to see Helveg really gel in this team, but I have to say he made qui...
I don''t think that sort of change around would be good for a team who have just taken 7 points from a possible 9. I''d stick Jonson on the left if Hucks is still under the weather, because he didn''t do too badly when he came on against the Geordies. If we continue to play patient football, like we did last night, against Charlton, then we''ve got every chance of picking up the 3 points.
17. I can''t wait to see your face... after I smear your nose across it.
18.
I like your thinking!! Are Dyer and Bowyer both banned for that game??
Yes, and so is Stephen Taylor.
19. I''m sorry, but England is irrelevant when it comes to club football. If you could chose between England winning the World Cup or Norwich winning the Premiership, it''s a no-brainer. Norwich all the way (I hope you agree...)
20. Just what I was hoping for. We''re going into the game off the back of a great win against Man Utd, and they look to be going into the game on the back of a heavy defeat.
21. I know it''s a cliche but you''re only as good as your last performance. I think Fleming benefitted from having quality defenders either side of him, and his performance certainly doesn''t warrant being dropped, particularly after such a brilliant team performance. Hopefully Palace will receive a confidence-bashing loss today and we''ll be able to capitalise at Selhurst Park next week.
22. Green Helveg - Fleming - Shackell - Drury Bentley - Francis - Safri - Huckerby Ashton - McKenzie Anyone who disagrees with that should be renamed Sir Alex "I can''t pick the right players" Ferguson.
23. It''s all well and good saying who will be good for the Championship next season, but we need to be looking at 2007. If we keep the same players for the whole of next season and end up promoted, we''ll have to replace Eddy, Fleming, Holt and Charlton simply because they will be too old. We''d probably be in a worse position than at the start of this season. Not only would we have to find capable replacements but those players will need time to gel into the team. So we could end up underacheiving at the start of 2007 in the Premiership and that''s exactly what we don''t need. The aforementioned players need to be replaced by the middle of next season or we''ll be screwed.
