1. Wiz you never give up do you?  Attention seeking down to a fine art.  Bless.
 2.
Yes, thats right. I can see the boardroom now, Doncaster, Delia and spin Doctor Munby lasciviously rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of cashing in come January. Dear Prudence.
Dad, I was going to reply to your other thread re. the catering side but can''t find it now. We''re well on the way to becoming a hotel and restaurant with a nice little football club attached imo. Anyone else think we have a right to know how much money this enterprise is making for the club?  (You won''t find it among the smoke and mirrors of the Annual Report, by the way.)
 3. There''s a Dutch player called Van der Vaart (they pronounce Vs like Fs) - perhaps we can get him on loan? Or what about Dean Windass . . .? Any more suggestions?
 4. As posted elsewhere, there''ll be 1500 pissed off Palace fans here on Saturday after their 2-0 home defeat last night. We hate Palace.  Think back to the outrageous dive that deprived us of two vital points in the Prem season.  35 quid for a restricted view in their crappy stadium.  It''s payback time.  B***cks to Worthy Out. OTBC
 5. Balham, I''m not just happy to watch football,  I''d much prefer an ugly win to a pretty defeat. (I''d like a pretty win even more, needless to say.)  No one is satisfied with what happened last night.  But "A point against Southend can never be a good result"?  That''s arrogance not ambition.  "A loser mentality that . . . starts with the fans"?  You don''t still believe that the catchphrase "Prudence with Ambition" actually means anything, do you?  Lack of ambition starts in the boardroom. The problem is, what do we do about it?  If we continue to pack out the ground like we do, what motivation does the board have to alter the status quo?  They''re more likely to borrow silly amounts of money all over again and build another stand.  All they are interested in is bums on seats, balancing the books and catering. Football is way down their list of priorities imo.  But if we vote with our feet, what then?  It gives the board a ready made excuse to plead poverty.  We''re in a Catch-22 situation.
 6.
I take you point, Marty, but Worthington was bemoaning the lack of leaders and Hendo is not someone who fits that bill, he is likely to lose his head or his rag and Spillane looks a cooler custmer. Personally, I would have brought Flem on.
Not entirely relevant to this thread, but re. Spillane, in both games I''ve watched this season he has shown a tendency to retaliate after the event.  Of course he needs to show his opponent that he can look after himself, but if he does it like that he''ll have an impressive card collection before long.  He has raw talent but has a lot to learn. I can see both sides of the Henderson v. Fleming argument, but what it boils down to is that we have a chronic lack of options due to the size of the squad.
 7. It''s usually Hucks who gets the blame for that sort of thing (and to be fair, he has been guilty on occasion).  Interesting though that we fell into the same trap even though he wasn''t playing.  I didn''t expect that.  I was more concerned that we''d invite them on by sitting back too far.
 8.
3-3....but a great result according to some people on here ! mmmmmm not so sure.
Ahem.  Sussex, you appear to have a rather short memory.  On the "Southend Predictions" thread you were anticipating defeat . . . Be honest, most of us would have settled for a score draw at 7.45.  At 8.15 we''d have snatched at it.  By 9.45 we were gutted, not so much at the result but because we flushed a two goal lead down the toilet.  We didn''t lose but it certainly felt like it.  I could have kicked the telly in. Now for Crystal Palace. They lost 2-0 at home last night.  If their fans are half as pissed off as we are, there should be no lack of atmosphere.  Bring it on!
 9. There''s plenty of criticism on here of various aspects of management of our club both on the field and off it. But "hate-filled vitriol"?  Not any more, not much anyway.  Last season I was so ashamed to witness the protest degenerating into a hate campaign that I cancelled my season ticket, so I''m as sensitive as anyone to that sort of thing.  I''ve never been a Worthy Outer in any case. But the majority of posters on here at the moment are attempting to address unanswered questions in a constructive way.  Andrew, you have the same right as anyone to express your point of view, but please don''t try to send us back into the dark ages by polarising the debate all over again.  We''re trying to move on.
 10.

Message to modifiers: please make the print a bit bigger!  I''m even struggling to read the captions on Sky Sports now.  On Saturday Clint Hill scored, and I thought it said C*nt Hill . . .
What is the text size setting in your browser? Normal should be alright, but Larger may help. In Internet Explorer, find it in the View menu > Text Size > If you use Firefox, you can also press Ctrl and the + (plus) or - (minus) keys.
Many thanks Vince.  Guess what, I had it on Smaller.  It''s fantastic now and will encourage me to post even more often.  How lucky you are.
 11.

Cliff park High School, Gorleston.         1980 - 1985. Current Occupation, Merchant Seaman working in Trinidad, but soon to be back in Jolly ol'' Angola..... At least i don''t seem to be the oldest on here!
I have a horrible feeling thats going to be me. Wheres Peter Wolsey when you need him?
Worry not Kathy, I''m older than you and I think Beelsie and BlyBly are knocking on a bit too.  This board only goes to prove that anyone can talk out of their arse, regardless of age (yes, including yours truly). Message to modifiers: please make the print a bit bigger!  I''m even struggling to read the captions on Sky Sports now.  On Saturday Clint Hill scored, and I thought it said C*nt Hill . . .

 13. I hope Hucks hasn''t aggravated his groin by flooring it on the A55. Wasn''t Dean Ashton''s hamstring niggle caused by trying to cram his huge frame into a sports car? It''s the latest sports injury - "Lamborghini Syndrome".  Metatarsals are sooo last season.
 14. Firstly, let''s try to stick to the facts as we know them about the Cotterill non-deal.  We were told that Wigan offered "up to" £2 million while we offered half a million less.  It wasn''t just the attraction of the Premiership, Wigan offered more money.  "Up to" - what does that mean?  Promotion for a start I would have thought.  I''d be amazed if we offered more than £1 million up front.  That''s a realistic figure imo given that he''s already playing for Wales first team.  I''d be concerned about any business that had not tried to attract any significant inward investment in ten years and showed no signs of doing so.  As I understand it, the club can issue shares based on its asset value.  The asset value increased dramatically in 2004/5, from just under £20 million to nearly £34 million.  I assume this was due to completion of the Jarrold Stand and NU Corner. So there appears to be scope for a meaningful share issue.  I wonder if the club are thinking about going down that road, and if not why not?
 15. Six of the players who started or came off the bench on Monday also started or came off the bench on Saturday. Apologies to other posters for turning this thread into Pedants Corner, but really how low can you get, slagging off the youth team on the basis of one performance.  They are picked for their own development, not to please the fans.
 16. Attleborough Primary 1950s Poringland Primary 1960-62 Secondary - such an allround horrible experience that I''ve erased it from my memory.  I didn''t go if I could possibly avoid it. I believe Wiz is a (failed) product of Hogwarts . . .
 17.
The club needs several players in truth, but the club in part, is being controlled by the bank, so funds are less than some people realise. Coupled with an overpaid manager who the club cannot afford to pay off, the overall scenario is not looking good. It is very difficult to attact players here, partly due to finance, partly due to location and partly due to the lack of an inspirational and/or respected manager at this club. NCFC is the oldest hooker at the back of a brothel - no one wants to go there unless they really have to. Maybe God has told Delia that Worthington will come good?
. . . and partly due to the fact that ambition has died an unnatural death.  Prudence did the dirty deed about 18 months ago and buried the body in a shallow grave.  She put a cardboard cutout in its place, and for a while no one noticed.  Then the corpse began to stink . . . and now everyone in football can smell it.
 18.
There was a very funny McKenzie song before the game today - prob won''t get past the moderators, hence the gaps: (to the tune of My old man''s a dustman) McKenzie is a winker He has been all his life He spent a long time in a XXXXXX home And Francis ....
lol superb
 19. If the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal can put in a rubbish display after international call-ups, even with the squads they''ve got, it''s not altogether surprising that we were below par.  Ditto Leeds: David Healy scored a hat trick against Spain but was non-existent against Wolves.  It''s not an excuse, but it is a partial explanation imo. It''s yet another reason why we need a bigger squad if we are to have any chance whatever of finishing in the top six.
 20.
As could not get to coventry match took myself down to colney to watch the youths was hoping i would see how good our back up was if needed.Sorry to say there was none. spurs gave the youngsters a lesson in how to play football and well and truly beat them 4-0You can read report on the pink-un where to my surprise they had a m.o.m in one patrick bexfield had to laugh as he played right back and the defence leaked 4 goals
Bexfield turned out for the reserves on Monday night and gave a good account of himself against bigger and stronger opposition.  So did half the  youth team. I expect they were knackered.
 21. How long have you lot been watching football?  Winning makes your weekend, losing ruins it.  Always has, always will. "Unless there is investment in the squad we are going nowhere." That was Mike Newell''s comment about Luton yesterday, but the same applies to us.  Everybody knows that, but as soon as we put in a sh*te performance it''s Worthy Out all over again.  Are you related to Stupid Barry? Sacking the manager is like taking an aspirin for a brain tumour.
 22.
Yes, didn''t quite get the sacasim in my post...
Yes I did CC, just pressed "quote" by mistake . . .
