  1. Just had a glance at Tuesday''s fixtures. You''d assume we are now in a mini-league with Cardiff, Swansea and Reading for 2nd place. Well, we all play teams who really have to win for different reasons. Scunthorpe V Reading. Scunthorpe will surely have renewed hope after their amazing victory today. However, they must keep winning to give themselves a chance (5 points off safety) Sheffield U V Cardiff. It has to be the last chance for the Blades. I expect their fans can''t believe the position they''re in. I think it''s 7 points from safety, so they quite simply have to win. Swansea V Hull. A good win for Hull at Watford today keeps them in with an outside shot of the Play-Offs. They surely have to win. Watford V Norwich. Watford''s final chance to keep themselves in with a chance of the top 6 finish. These fixtures make this league so interesting game after game. Tuesday should make thing a bit clearer at both ends of the table.............or not? Which fixture would you prefer? If we can just keep ourselves a point clear by the end of the evening, then we''ll have a great opportunity to extend that to 4 points on Friday and put the pressure back on the other chasing teams. This is still fun at the moment isn''t it?!. . . . . . .
  2. I thought Crofts played well too and was determined to win the ball and not afraid to put in a challenge. I was quite suprised when he was substituted.
  3. You may need to include Reading in that list Wembley, with the form they''ve been in. They would need to win at least 5 though and possibly all 6. We will probably need to win at least 4. The one positive from today is that the gap to 7th is still 10 points, so it''s very hard to see us not getting a play-off place now.
  4. Agree, we as fans must do our bit. No room for negativity here. Let''s push the lads on.
  5. It was one of those days. You could argue they deserved that after the reverse fixture. In the end I was quite relieved we didn''t get anyone sent off. Pleased we''ve got another game so soon, so we don''t have time to dwell on this. Let us all pray for Wes.............
  6. Good to see us having a go, we just need a little luck to get that first goal.
  7. The Ruddy save and Whitbread tackle were massive and have kept us in the game. Lambert has always proved his worth when he''s needed to change things and he will today. As long as we get the next goal, I expect them to feel the pressure and us to take advantage. Two great goals though.
  8. Got mine this afternoon having missed out in the ballot. Should be a good atmosphere.
  9. When we signed Holt, I believe we had competition from another team- Colchester. I remember Lambert was very keen to get him in but Holt was always going to choose us, even if Colchester could find the fee. I think it was another attraction for him taking the City job- he''d finally got his man. That aside, it was obvious Holt was hot property and bound to do very well in League 1. Not Rocket Science, but a great signing. I have to say that Gunn did well to spot Cody''s potential. Did he cost us 25K or something? Last season''s strike force were perfect. It''s been harder for Lambert this season as we are playing in a better quality league. We know he hasn''t had a big budget to play with and strikers is the position where prices are so inflated. Perhaps we should reserve judgement for when he manages in the Premiership and should have a bit of money to play with??
  10. Great comment IncH HigH! Wow, bit of shocker this one, don''t think any of us expected this. Michael''s done brilliantly for us. He''s improved as a player and looked more and more solid. The goal against Charlton (as has been mentioned) will be a treasured memory and the celebration that followed in front of us was awesome! He scored some cracking goals in fact. I also remember when we were 1-0 up at home to Brentford last season and we''d done it with 10 men. It was the dying moments of the game and we were under pressure when The Admiral put his foot the the ball and it literally travelled the length of the pitch and you''d have thought we''d scored, the cheer it got. Thanks for the memories Michael and good luck in the future. Was hoping the Iron stayed up anyway, but really hope they do now!
  11. Delighted with this. Wes is a fabulous player and a key component of the squad.
  12. Shame, I needed 1x adult and 2x U12. Left it so late as my youngest has been unwell, but has recovered well today. Never mind, will venture to the ground tomorrow, I''m sure they''ll be a few left!
  13. Well done to the club for making a statement so promptly. Interesting day tomorrow then.
  14. Chris Martin was having a good old laugh when the bus passed us.
  15. Glad you had the same experience Andy. Obviously being in the thick of all the hype surrounding us, I didn''t quite realise how big a game it was for them with regard to automatic promotion. A win would have put them joint second.
  16. Thank you Phil, A very enjoyable and entertaining video. Thank you for your kind words. We have played really well this season and Saturday demonstrated that we could also dig in and get a result. Norwich haven''t played as defensively and sat so deep all season, but under the circumstances and with the personnel he had available, Lambert was again spot-on. I had a wonderful day on Saturday. I have to say that all the Charlton fans I spoke to were really friendly. I was particularly impressed with one chap who, while we were walking back to the car, stopped his car on the main road, wound down the window and offered his congratulations. It was a fabulous gesture and one that demonstates most football fans are thoroughly decent people. Good luck to Charlton for the rest of the season. Another big club, who have fallen on hard times. They have clearly been very solid defensively in the past few weeks and this could well lead to them being promoted.
  17. Just got back from football and saw that result.  Well done Exeter, hope they push on now and stay in this league.  Just goes to show that the teams around us cannot afford any slips or they''re stuffed.  We could probably lose all our games and still have a good chance of going up (not that I think we will!)
  18. I''m backing the boys to be well prepared and up for getting this done as soon as possible.  We''re due a clean sheet and we always score. We are definitely a ''team'' this season and the backing from the fans will spur them on.  0-3
  19. It''s hard to see past a Swindon win.  They''ll be hurting from the defeat Saturday and will want to bounce back quickly.  We know they''re strong at home.  I think we have to assume that this is a very winnable fixture and try and match that tomorrow. However, with a bit of luck Exeter will hold out (or even score first) as long as possible and start to frustrate the anxious crowd and this will transfer to the players and then you never know. On the subject of Exeter, I really hope they get enough points to survive.  Friendly little club.  I remember going along to one of their games about 20 years ago, when they were playing Fulham, who at the time were in the same division!  How times change eh?
