  1. Because we got 7 points from Idah's last three games? Everton, Watford and Palace. He then got injured and during the Southampton game the commentators kept pointing out our inability to hold the ball up, which is what Idah had been praised for doing especially in the Everton game.
  2. But when Farke got sacked, Danny Murphy said we'd been far too easy to play against.
  3. “When I look back at what I experienced, I think it’s unfair to label players injury-prone,” he says. “My injuries were all unfortunate. They were the hardest three years of my life. “I got offered a payout at Norwich and I didn’t accept it. I wanted to get back fit and play football. I gave it everything in my career. I was able to get back, play football and enjoy what I wanted to do. When I retired it wasn’t down to injury, it was on my terms and I’m really proud of that.”
  4. “Let’s say I had a dinner booked in town with my wife and some friends. I’d cancel it. I look back now and think, ‘Why did it do that? They did nothing wrong’. During my time at Norwich, I hardly went out. The lads and staff were great with me but I didn’t want to be seen going out. That’s one side of football that a lot of people don’t see. I was getting messages from people asking why I was still injured. I’d respond and say, ‘I’d love you to come here and see what I’m doing to get fit, then you might rethink what you’ve just said’.”
  5. “I had a great debut (for Norwich, scoring in a 3-1 win over Bournemouth) and it gave me such a lift. I almost felt as if I had a point to prove. I scored again in my third game, against West Brom, and everything just clicked. “Then we played Manchester City and I decided to do my first proper tackle against Toure and it didn’t go well for me. “Straight away, I knew I’d done my knee. I just knew it wasn’t right. But because I was new at Norwich, I wanted to carry on. The physio came on and I kept telling him, ‘I’m fine, I can play’. I went back, we were on the attack and I sprinted into the box. As soon as I tried to turn, my knee was gone.”
  6. Our only central midfield options are Sorenson, McLean, PLM and Rupp (contract expires at the end of this season). PLM may want to go back to France, so I can't see us getting rid of Kenny.
  7. I think the defining moment was McNally's inability to establish us as a Premier league club. I'm not saying Webber hasn't made mistakes, but by the time he took over, we had an average salary of 28k in the Championship, one year left of parachute payments, and had to replace almost the entire squad because we couldn't afford to keep any of them. Crystal Palace went up with Hull in 2013, and Palace had stayed in the premiership since. That third year when we spent the money on RVW and others and got relegated I think is worse than anything Webber's done. we even managed a second chance in 2016
  8. The "What credentials does Neil Adams have" seems a stupid argument when West Ham's head of recruitment is his former team mate Rob Newman. Whilst he might not have made it as a manager, the general consensus from everyone I've known who had dealings with Neil Adams was that he's a very sound footballing guy. FA Youth Cup winning coach and well regarded as loans manager.
  9. with Carlton Morris for Barnsley and Hondermarck on the bench.
  10. Not sure if we've done this already, but there's a very good article in the Guardian on Boris's origins at Oxford University and his runs for the Student Union presidency. https://www.theguardian.com/news/2022/apr/19/oxford-union-created-ruling-political-class-boris-johnson-michael-gove-theresa-may-rees-mogg?
  11. Though it sounds like a lot of the press are complicit in this
  12. The Daily Heil tubthumping again
  13. He's trying to lie his way out of it PM: I want to offer a fulsome apology Boris Johnson has now given a statement. He says: "Today I've received a fixed penalty notice from the Metropolitan police relating to a Downing Street Event on 19 June 2020. "Let me say immediately, I have paid the fine and want to offer a fulsome apology." Going through the events of that day, he says: "There was a brief gathering in the Cabinet Room shortly after 2pm lasting less than 10 minutes during which people I worked with passed on their good wishes. "In that time it did not occur to me this might have been a breach of the rules. "The police have found otherwise and I fully respect the outcome of their investigation."
  14. Paul Moy crying in a corner somewhere, even his beloved Express are turning now https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1594658/brexit-news-boris-johnson-uk-france-fishing-licences-british-waters-ben-habib
  15. More problems for farmers https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-61039876
  16. Went for a drink with a guy from the National Grid a few weeks back, who was basically saying that Nuclear plants always want to be pumping out the maximum amount, which makes it hard to manage. There's natural peaks and troughs in electricity usage (ie spikes during commercial breaks for popular shows), and with gas it was easy to vary the output. Some pretty scathing interviews has come out recently, how Tories blocked new wind farms since 2015 because they were predominantly in Tory voting areas and they didn't want to lose votes. The Tories sold off the utilities in the early nineties and I can remember in school in 1992 or 1993 being taught how oil/gas/coal was going to run out in 2030-2040. The sad thing is the absence of a plan, and that the electorate have let this useless Tory government get away with it.
  17. "Uefa has brought in new financial regulations which will limit clubs' spending on wages, transfers and agents' fees to 70% of their revenue. Permitted losses over a three-year period have also risen from 30m euros (£24.98m) to 60m euros (£49.96m)." https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60973786 Unlikely to affect us as we don't have a rich owner to bankroll us, and arguably helps the 'big 6' to keep their stranglehold on the game, but would affect any super rich investor wanting to buy a club.
  18. Seriously question though, would anyone have preferred Lampard? Everton looking in real trouble now, and Lampard definitely can't organise a defence.
  19. Ben Godfrey will want to forget that goal in a hurry
  20. Two fairly soft penalties. When Gary Neville says "it's the greatest Premier League ever" for marketing hype he's not referring to games like these.
  21. Not really Brexit related, but does remind me of trying to argue with some people on here
  22. They say you get the government you deserve
