  1. This is from ESPN, the Liverpool guy was playing at left back, hence why Giannoulis was further up the pitch
  2. ...and a year later he's been told to find himself another club. You can force a player to stay, but you can't force them to motivate themselves.
  3. I don't know if they get any scoops, but it was founded by ex-Archant reporter Rick Waghorn, has ex-Fleet Street Mick Dennis contributing, and Pinkun's Connor Southwell used to write for them.
  4. We'll see. Webber's said to judge the strength of the squad at the end of the transfer window, and I think he's earned the right for some patience. If the squad isn't good enough at the end of the window, then you can all raise your burning torches and pitchforks. Realistically we've got a £25m-30m budget for transfers, and Webber wants to grow that by selling a player or two. He's already said he expects us to break our transfer record and that we're targetting some top quality players.
  5. I remember when Nigel Worthington was interviewed by Darren Huckerby and he'd basically said it was a mistake to try to keep Dean Ashton and that they should have just sold him in the summer we got relegated from the Premiership. I also remember an exasperated Alex Neil being asked about our miraculous improvement in form once the January transfer window was open in 2017 and him pointing out that he hadn't told the players to do anything differently.
  6. “Don’t put a lid on it,” he said. “Why should we put a lid on it? Why can we not do what Sheffield United have done? Why can we not do what Bournemouth have done? “There’s a club that’s up the road they keep telling me, why can’t we do more than they’ve done? “There’s no reason why. If we can get the right people together, working in the right direction, there is no limit on what this club can do. The fanbase is big enough to be competitive in any division," Ashton told the EADT. It would be a stretch if he said that about his previous job at Bristol City, let alone Ipswich Town
  7. Tim Cahill is 41 and retired two years ago
  8. The whole Brexit immigration argument was that we wouldn't let C2DE semi and unskilled immigration workers into the country unless there was a dire need, and this would drive up workers wages for the British citizens. Tim Martin now seems to have done a total 180 on his position.
  9. I've posted this before, but this always comes to mind when people talk about club funding
  10. game on 1-1. both keepers should have done better for the goals though
  11. how many seconds was that? own goal in the first minute of play [edit] BBC say 47 seconds, Sky say 37 seconds
  12. Could be a good game. Both teams play good football, and it's great to see two young British managers doing well, Neil Critchley was Liverpool U-23s coach and Michael Appleton has been around the block a bit, but was well thought of at one point.
  13. Pep got his tactics all wrong, no number 9 or a holding midfielder. Well played Tuchel
  14. Aguero to write his own script and get the equaliser?
  15. de Bruyne with an icepack on his face with a massive shiner
  16. Thought the odds for a Man City win in 90 minutes were stupidly low odds given that Tuchel knocked them out of the FA cup and beat them in the league. I cashed out my Chelsea win bet as I'm expecting an equaliser though.
  17. Koln won 5-1 to stay in the Bundesliga, which means Sebastiaan Bornauw isn't relegated. Not sure how keen we were on him, but probably doesn't help us much.
  18. Will be interesting to see what Brentford's recruitment is like next season, since many markets are now closed off to them because of Brexit (eg French Ligue 2) and a reduced window in which to recruit. Historically their recruitment's been very good but can they scale with a larger budget?
  19. Yeah, Hondermarck was a surprise for me, as he'd been on loan at Harrogate Town in League 2, was still only 20 and I thought he'd had a decent EFL trophy run.
  20. https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2021/may/city-confirm-outgoing-players/ As previously announced, long-serving midfield duo Alex Tettey and Mario Vrancic have not been offered new deals, whilst loan players Oliver Skipp and Xavi Quintilla will return to their respective parent clubs. Full-back Jordan Thomas, who made a solitary first team appearance as a substitute away at Manchester City in July 2020, has not been offered a new deal and will depart. Fellow youngsters Zach Dronfield, William Hondermarck, Louis Lomas and Ethen Vaughan will all also officially leave the club when their respective contracts expire on June 30th.
