1. The username is WeWantWorthyBack, Polar. Without a doubt losing Huckerby is a big blow. He is a creative influence that is very capable at this level. But equally the defensive frailities he left us vulnerable to is obviously something Roeder decided outweighed the offensive capabilities he brought to the side.
2.
Oh dear... The evidence is on the football pitch. In the last ten games, Huckerby has been one of, if not our best player. Unless Roeder''s planning on releasing the entire team and fielding a completely new XI next season, then I''m this was for personal reasons, not footballing ones.
Yes indeed, the evidence is on the football pitch. That''s why we see, week in, week out a player that Will not head the ball Will not track back Does not get into the box when attacking down the other flank, preferring to hug his own flank and wait for the ball to come out. Leaves acres of space behind him. I think Roeder is of the opinion that we can''t build a side around someone as one dimensional as Huckerby is anymore. It leaves us very vulnerable and at risk. Rick Waghorn has it right with this: http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter.com/full_article.asp?i=3400 Look, I totally agree the way he''s been treated is not good at all and personally I''d have kept him. But Roeder clearly wants to take the team in a new direction, as is his perogative to do as manager of this football club. Which is completely a footballing decision, not a personal decision. Saying otherwise is totally ridiculous.
3.
Thats sorted then because haven''t Sunderland, Palace and now Stoke already shown interest in him??
Can you honestly see Roy Keane being interested? Honestly? Just think about that for a second. Warnock is only quoted as to being interested previously and Stoke is new on me.
4.
The personal attacks towards Roeder are because most fans can see that the decision to release Hucks was a "personal decision" by Roeder, and not a footballing one.
Absolute rubbish, and there''s not a scrap of evidence to support your claim. This is far from a personal decision and Huckerby has stated that. It''s football, at the end of the day, players that have come to the end of their usefulness - in the opinion of the manager - will be released. Absolutely nothing against Huckerby personally who is a smashing bloke.
5. I agree with we8wba. We need to move quickly and secure targets to prevent being gazumped by teams with large bank accounts. But I do think the players are out there and available - all that''s needed is the cash to secure them.
6. I''d be tempted to look at all three players Newcastle have released. Carr is supposedly off to Villa, though, so that might be out. But I''d take Troisi and Ramage in a heart beat. Troisi in particular has surprised many Geordies as he was thought to be a very good prospect. Let''s hope that Roeder agrees and is on it already.
7. In my mind, this is the squad we''re left with: No.  Position Player 1  GK David Marshall 2  DF Jon Otsemobor 3  DF Adam Drury 4  DF Jason Shackell 7  MF Lee Croft 10  FW Jamie Cureton 11  MF Luke Chadwick 12  GK Matthew Gilks 13  GK Declan Rudd 16  MF Mark Fotheringham (captain)  19  MF Simon Lappin 20  MF Darel Russell 24  MF Matty Pattison 26  MF Robert Eagle 27  DF Gary Doherty 28  MF Michael Spillane 33  FW Kris Renton 35  FW Chris Martin 38  MF Damon Lathrope 39  FW Luke Daley  So, who of those would you allow to leave if you got an offer in, and for how much?
8. Frankly, City Devil, I wonder whether you are an NCFC fan or a Darren Huckerby fan. I agree he deserved another season or, at worst, a decent send off. And I''m as disappointed he didn''t get it as any. But it can''t be denied that this team is in need of a decent overhaul and I''m sure this isn''t the last first team player to leave.
9. For what it''s worth, Jas, I think Roeder has got it wrong. I think he should have kept Hucks for another season or if not, given him a decent send off. But Roeder''s the boss and the arguments against Huckerby are just as compelling as the arguments for Huckerby. We have to trust Roeder to get it right and move this club forward. With luck, we''ll see a decent summer of good transfer activity.
10.
Rodent is an egotistical prat. Hucks will always be a hero.
Based on what exactly? I bet you''ve never met Roeder! You''re a complete idiot.
11. I think you''ll find Gilks is off in the summer to look for regular first team football. Hardly a sign of crap management to give Declan Rudd a spot on the bench.
12.
A decent manager would have announced the departure before Sunday. First poster is spot on with his description of Roeder
"A decent manager" is one who brings success to the football club, not announce when they''re releasing a player when we''d all like it. The description of Roeder is unwarranted - he''s just doing his job.
13. I can''t believe what I''m reading on this forum; post after post of very personal attacks on Glenn Roeder. Let''s get things in perspective. Glenn is in charge of a professional football club. I appreciate football invokes a great deal of passion and loyalty but frankly this is unbelievable. On this site, I''ve seen Glenn called cowardly and spineless. I''ve seen people call for Roeder''s head. There''s even a demonstration going on against his decision. On another site I''ve seen Glenn called all manner of four lettered names. Fair enough, disagree with Glenn''s decision - that''s your perogative. But leave personal attacks out of it, can you? Some of you are acting like children who have thrown their toys out of the pram.
14. I''ll take you on that bet. Quite happily, actually.
15.
Bring on Chadwick ..  bring on Lappin ... bring on cheap young Henry .... bring on never scoring Pattison ... or bring on another cheap young Bertrand on the left wing ... all worse ... and not ....scoring any goals ... not scoring goals ... not scoring ... any goals .... no goals .... nothing on the wing ... bye bye Hucks ... bye bye ..Carrow Road ... it''s a disgrace !   At the open day .. the supporters forum ... it was clear for everybody that Roeder didn''t want Hucks to sign on ...   Bring on Alahors ... 3rd division in Sweden !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reading that was like listening to someone rocking backward and forward muttering to themselves in a padded cell. Are you well?
16. I agree with you Jas. Which must be a first. At the end of the day, Hucks has had his best days. His performances this season weren''t good, and we would be paying him good money which could be better spent elsewhere. Yes, not giving him a decent send off is criminal. But the contract decision is, IMO, a good one.
17.
i''d have him back.. replace that huckerby fellow jas :)
Who?
18. Newcastle have also released Troisi as well, a very capable young winger who was thought very highly of at one point. I''d be tempted to give all three a go, although with Carr I''d only give him a year long contract to make sure his injuries are cured.
19.
No Spillane or Martin however.
Neither are out of contract. If they leave, it has to be to another club.
20. Absolutely gutted, especially with his end of season form. However, it cannot be said that he has been ultimately disappointing this season and probably didn''t deserve a new contract. However, he''s still and always will be a legend at this club and he''ll be back soon enough - probably as one of us, sitting in the stands. Thanks, Darren.
21.
Click Wikipedia has all the answers.
I think I''ll leave that for viewing at home rather than at work :)
22.
OHHH! YOUNGMAN! All this talk of condoms is taking me back to that bomb shelter experience in 1940 which I would rather not discuss at this time of night. All my love Lillian x x
I didn''t think condoms existed in the ''40s. Might be wrong!
23. Actually for very good reasons I would believe Roeder may well allow Curo to leave. But Russel? Can''t see it myself, but we''ll wait and see!
