1. Well if we can''t sign Ched and/or players of similar ability then what''s the point of letting Huckerby go? If we''re not going to sign good players like that then we''ll be going backwards. So I would hope Glenn feels confident he can (and is aiming to) sign players of that quality.
 2. I really hope that the money saved from Hucks wages goes towards signing Ched permanently. I seem to remember a few months ago it looked like we were prepared to pay a couple of million for Billy Sharp and Ched is streets ahead of him.
 3.
no.. if you want a replacement for dion who can score goals at this level its Dele Adebola.. ok Knocking on a bit now but his record at this level over the past 10/12 years is very good. Coventry, Birmingham, Crewe and Bristol City have all benefitted from his goals over the years.. he''s not a 20 a season man... but is quality and would benefit curo no end. jas :)
I don''t always agree with your opinions but I do agree with you on this one. I''ve often thought he would be a very handy player for us to sign. Doesn''t necessarily score loads and loads of goals but he does bring a lot to the team. Much like someone like Emile Heskey does. People don''t always appreciate how much those types of players contribute.
 4. Whoops, kinda made a mess of that quote. So to pick out my actual reply: Even looking back at it now I''d still play a first choice team of senior players. If there were any youngsters that might be worth giving a run to then that''s different but the likes of Spillane and Eagle don''t particularly inspire me.
 5.

For me I don''t give a monkeys about being fair to the team fighting relegation. We should be looking at what is best for NCFC. I would go for;                              Gilks Cave-Brown  Spillane  Shackell  Eagle Chadwick  Russell  Fotheringham  Pattison                       Martin   Cureton Subs - Dublin, Hucks, Lathrope, Daley, Doc No point in playing the loanees and it is chance to have a look at a couple of the fringe players.
Even looking back at it now I''d still play a first choice team of senior players. The best thing for Norwich would playing a full strength side and trying to pick up 3 points. Ending this season how we intend to start next. If we sent out that defensive lineup at Hillsborough with Wednesday fighting for their lives we''d get stuffed.
Honestly, this isn''t hindsight speaking but it was fairly obvious we were going to get stuffed whatever team we put out; We had nothing to play for. We have a shocking record against Wednesday of late (6 straight defeats). We were taking a large following to an away game which guarantees a heavy defeat. My mate James went and we always lose and concede 4 when he goes! Therefore, playing a few of the youngsters would be of more benefit to the club than playing loanees he won''t be here.
6.
I would have Carr here in a heartbeat.  Quality right back.  Hasn''t quite worked out for him at Newcastle, but he was class at Spurs....
Looked a good prospect, failed to progress. Too many big pay packets.
 7.

ok.. most of you are not going to agree and think roeder is now the scum of the earth.. but lets face facts. 1. Darren Huckerby was in his 30''s 2. Darren Huckerby was a High Earner. 3. Darren Said he wouldnt sign "what was put in front of him" and wasn''t prepared to "sit on the bench" what makes better sense to the club.. offering an ageing winger who i slosing his pace a lucrative 1 year deal.. or signing a younge rman, who can only get bettert, for a fraction of the wages on a longer contract?  Only an Idiot will say option 1 wont they? Like it or not Darrec Huckerby is slowing down, too many hard tackles, too much strain on the sinews. Apart from pace what else has hucks got? He cant Tackle, He cant head, he cant pass.... he isnt much of a footballer if he cant put his head down and go.  He wasn''t perhaps prepared to take a wage cut to stay here.. despite his "i''ll never leave" speaches of years past... Suppose then we had offered hucks another year... then Glenn Roeder went out and signed someone Younger, Faster and cheaper than Hucks... and hucks sits on the bench... bleeding money out of the football club... the people angry about Hucks being released would be the first complaining that he either wasnt playing or was drawing a wage for doing sod all! as for saying goodbye to hucks...we all did that aginst QPR.. we all knew, deep down, he was off... Would you rather the board accepted an offer and shipped him out just like that with no fanfare and farewell.. Darren Eadie, Ashley Ward and Jon Newsome anyone? Yes im sorry to see Hucks go and hope he is happy wheever life takes him and wish him all the best... Perhaps he''ll come back as a coach, perhaps he''s off to America.. Maybe he will turn his back on football altogether and persue other interests in his life.. who knows... but lets put the "Roeder out" banners away shall we... the decision is made.. he''s gone.. and nothing we all say will bring him back. Support Roeder dont slag him off! jas :)
Ther is no "Other side" to this argument. He was our best player by a country mile and one of the best ever in my opinion. He was well worth another year. Who else in this team is going to win matches for us? None that I can see and by the sounds coming from Doomcaster nothing much will be bought to replace him. A sad sad day for me and another milestone in the road on NCFC''s long decline.
Agreed. Players who are comfortable going past a man on the inside or outside are rare. To be able to do that and committ defenders the way Huckerby can is a gift. He can play people in and he can score goals. For people to suggest that he''s started to lose his pace and doesn''t have much else to his game is ignorance. Far better footballer than some people realise.
 8. Time to see what Roeder is made of. He''s prepared to let the best player at the club go. If we''re starting next season relying on the likes of Shack, Cureton and the very average Fotheringham as captain to take us forward then we''ll know that Roeder isn''t the man for the job and we''ve all been let down.
 9. I usually try to stay positive and not whinge too much but this is a flipping disgrace. We''ve just let the best player at the club go. I will be very surprised if we sign anybody who has anywhere near his quality. Wrong decision, without doubt.
 10. Not unless we get the old cliché of "silly money" for him. I very much doubt we''ll be able to improve on David Marshall. There are plenty worse goalkeepers in this league and to be honest I wouldn''t swap him for some ''keepers currently in the Premier League.
 11. I''m still pleased that we''ve signed him. I think we''ll see improvement in his game the more he plays. He''s never really had a good run of games until he came here, he''s still young and learning the ropes.
 12. Lovely little footballer, if he had a bit more pace he''d have played for a bigger club than Norwich.

 14.

I''m sure Scunthorpe would be open to offers, just been relegated and Patersons vaule now is much more than it will be come January and a quick sale now will bring in the most amount of revenue possible.
So if Paterson has scored 25 goals by January and Scunthorpe are chasing promotion he''d be available for less than he would this summer just after relegation?
Actually I suppose it might be less in January if his contract was up in the summer...

 16.
I think it''s also a case of ignorance breeds hate. - GJP I don''t hate Doherty, I just realize he is not nearly the force many of you blinded by his............well, whatever it is he does to make you so determined that he is great, you''re blinded by it.  He is okay, sometimes very good, sometimes irritatingly stupid, and nothing any other team has to make special plans for. City fans seems to have a habit of holding onto some very average player as their favorite we can''t do without, and lately it is Doherty.  He does not belong in a conversation on par with the impact of losing consistenly good player the opposition has to plan around.  That''s just my humble opinion.  Ha, Humble is a suburb of Houston! It is even pronouced with a silent H, like you would say it!
For the record, I didn''t actually think that you do hate Gary Doherty. My point was more that I''m not convinced you''ve watched him play enough or know enough about his game to justify some of your opinions on him. My opinion on Gary Doherty is basically that he''s a good solid Championship defender and usually one of our better/more consistent performers but if Norwich were really trying to challenge at the top of the league then we''d probably need someone better. I''ve said that for a long time. But I also appreciate that where Norwich have been in recent times and with the money that has been available that we''d struggle to do better than the Doc.
 17.
I notice you had to go round the whole premier league to pick out a few top english players!
And I notice you said "home grown talent doesn''t seem to exist in the top tier" yet here I am picking out these players.
 18.
Two English clubs in the Champions league final? - I don''t think so just look at the squads - they are both International teams with very few actual Englishmen playing for them. Still we can all thank Sky Sports and the Premier League for the state of our national game since money took over home grown talent dosern''t seem to exist in the top tier.
Yet Chelsea are captained by John Terry and Man Utd are captained by Rio Ferdinand. And then you''ve got the likes of Wazza, Lampard, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, Scholesy, Wes Brown, Wayne Bridge, Michael Carrick and even Gary Neville. As for the home grown talent... Theo Walcott, Michael Johnson, Tom Huddlestone, Gabby Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, Mark Noble, Steven Taylor and Giles Barnes are just a few that spring to mind who play first team football in the Premier League and there are plenty more.
 19.
Silly me for not realising that. - GJP No problem, GJP.  I''m always happy to help others see the light, even from way over here.
If only you were prepared to let others enlighten you. Oh well, as they say, ignorance is bliss. And as far as you and Gary Doherty are concerned I think it''s also a case of ignorance breeds hate.
 20.
How would you know other teams aren''t interested? Are you his agent or something? - GJP I would know this because I read the Pinkun.  When was the last time there was anything in the Pinkun about Doherty just maybe being sought by someone else? When was the last time any of it turned out to be accurate?  If he was considered to be ''all that'' by other teams, we''d hear at least SOMETHING about interest from other clubs.  And the Pinkun would be right there to cover it.  (I now dare the site operator to not put my message up!)
Oh right. Yeah, that''s fair enough then. If there isn''t transfer speculation on the Pinkun then there can''t be any other clubs interested. Silly me for not realising that.
 21.

I would be more excited by Earnshaw, Eastwood or Evans signing for us.
I would be concerned if we signed Eastwood. He has failed so far to deliver (if you exclude penalties) in this division.
I''d be chuffed if we got Eastwood. Would be a very good player for us.
 22.

It is true that you''ve got to be there to miss them. But it''s not just the misses that bother me it''s more that Cureton brings very little else to the team. He struggles to win the ball  and he doesn''t have the pace or power to take people on. It''d be a bit different if he was missing chances but still contributing in other areas but for the most part he does very little.
So you were happy with Chris Brown ?
I didn''t have a problem with Brown, I''ve said that all along. Shame he didn''t score more but if I had to pick between a partnership of Brown and Evans or Cureton and Evans then it''d very Brown and Evans everytime. I''m sure there''s a lot of people who would disagree with that but there ya go. If Jamie Cureton had worked harder at the start of the season then Chris Browns efforts wouldn''t have been in vain.
I totally agree with this and all your thoughts on Cureton, absolutely spot on.
Cheers mate, glad there are other people who think along the same lines.
It''s an interesting debate, I''m sure that if Brown could have found the net some of the time, he''d still be here.  But it''s the goal tally that counts, and Cureton is our top scorer this season, and has scored more than the other players we were linked with over the summer.
Indeed. And although Cureton is our top goalscorer me thinks that some of our suggested targets would have stuck more away for us this season than he has. Regdardless of how they''ve performed at other clubs.
 24. Not even close to being as good as David James. Probably only linked with Liverpool to get a better deal at Newcastle. He''s hardly likely to replace Reina (not that I rate Reina that highly). He''s spent most of his career being backup at Newcastle, I can''t see him moving to Liverpool just to be backup.
 25.
Too many of you lord over Doherty because he ''tries hard'' and is gritty.  He is deemed untouchable by so many, but to those more open minded, he is somewhat of a liability in terms of smarts and distribution quality.
It''s not that he''s untouchable it''s just that I think people tend to realise he''s a good defender at this level. For me the real weakness in his game is his speed on the turn, that''s when he looks sluggish. But he reads the game pretty well, rarely found of position, good tackler, good in the air and it''s very rare you see anyone go past him with pace (he shifts a bit quicker than people realise). He''s not exactly Cesc Fabregas with his distribution but for the most part his distribution is sensible even if sometimes his diagonal ball across the pitch doesn''t land on a penny.
