So I invite the critics to argue over some more detailed and very well sourced stats, which show him actually scoring many goals for Rochdale and showing his subs appearances, as well as his cup goals. If you are going to place a player under scrutiny then at least do it properly. Lets av it.
4. 10 points in 10 games and Gunn should be sacked! 2 point per game is the standard needed for promotion and about 1.7 points per game for the bottom play-off spot. Any less than 17 points from the first 10 games would be a disaster Please dont think I am being anti-Gunn, I have belief in him and have had from the very start, but 10 points in 10 games would.... for me.... be the point where he loses his job.
5. In my opinion we only need one more player before we have a squad capable of competing with Leeds & Co. That is a quality right back, im sure there has to be a right footed Rhoys Wiggans somewhere. Otsemober is sh*te, and the sooner he is banished to the reserves the better. I guess if both Russell and Clingan leave then we will need one more centre midfielder. Im sure a few will say that we need another striker, but I feel that Cody McDonald and Chris Martin will be enough. I would welcome Maric, but at the same time think that Cureton could still do a job with a target man (he hasnt had one for the last two years). For me at least, a right back would complete the squad (subject to Russell staying, otherwise a centre mid). I am absolutely delighted with the standard of player that we have brought in. Simon Whaley, Grant Holt, Stephen Hughes, Owain Tudor Jones and Rhoys Wiggans are.... in my opinion, championship quality. Im not too sure about Micky Nelson and Matty Gill (have not seen much of them) but time will tell on them. I think we are stronger now then we were for the whole of last season.
6. I have to agree 100% with the other bloke, what a stupid thread. Most of us have better things to do then read exactly the same news story in slightly different words about 4 times.
7. Never scores? averages 3.3 goals in every 46 games...... better than Fozzy, probably better than Russell.... better than Clingan pre-Norwich....
8. What a load of rubbish, why are you singling out Delia for blame with regards to the Clingan situation? how do you know that they did not consult Gunn? The reason that Clingan is leaving is because he wants to, as simple as, and although I too would have liked Clingan to leave.... its not as if the club have rejected £1m and accepted 650k from another club is it? They got the price that the market would pay for a player who has a history of leaving on a bosman free. And you do also realise that Notts County are potentially a bigger club than Norwich? who had next to no debts, and are based in a huge catchment area?
9. "6,988.....should have passed 7,000 about 5 minutes ago then.." Somebody clearly finds it hard to grasp the principles of the post count, which is in real time e.g. his first ever post would still say 6,988.
10. When Sammy Clingan is worth 650k and only has interest from mid table championship teams, and then Daryl Russell gets interest from the premiership and is supposedly worth more than 500k. Weird logic there, considering the what.... 4 years between them? Personally I expect to see Coventry pushing for a championship play off place next year and Burnley having one of the worst premiership seasons in history. I cannot believe for one second that Burnley bid 500k for Russell. More like they bid 250k and we want 500k. It looks like they are preparing for their season back in the championship already. For the record, I believe that we should bit off Burnley''s hand if they offer 400k+. Russell out, Grant Holt in.... wouldn''t be the worst bit of business.
11. "Couldn''t we of got Leory Lita for around that price last season?" What a player that rejected 26k per week from Sheffield United? Since he is out of contract now, we could technically get him for free. We will sign him don''t worry. Just as soon as you right a cheque for the £1.5m a year that he wants.
12. Is your girlfiend from the Larkman then Fuglestad? or just a heat reading big brother fan?
13. "I hope you realise which Stephen Hughes we''re signing..." Yes the better one. The old, ex-Arsenal, Hughes has always been injury prone and lightweight.
14. Stephen Hughes for Daryl Russell..... Fantastic, absolutely fantastic. To be blunt and straight to the point, Russell has been a liability for us and to replace him with a player of the calibre of Hughes is a big big coup for us. Finances aside (we don''t know if the 7k is true), this is a great deal, and I am sure that the club isn''t losing money on this. Assuming that Russell goes for 500k-600k, and was on say 5k a week, the transfer fee for Russell will more than cover the extra expense for Hughes. Superb bit of business. But Delia, be aware, that this would mean the rebate money still hasn''t be spent! I expect to see a top striker and a decent right winger arriving too before I am content, and a new right back before I am happy!
15. You always sound so hard done by vic! Its ok saying that you ''could'' have gone into the city, but surely you know what has happened in the ''city''? People who have lost 50k jobs are applying for 15k jobs, people that have lost 100k jobs are applying for 25k jobs and so on. The ''city'' which of course normally refers to the moving about of money of some sort, aka the financial sector, is one of the worst hit sectors; and there is every chance that you would be unemployed now if you had taken that well trodden route. I appreciate that you have two degrees, but I have friends with phd''s that are taking call centre jobs to meet their loan repayments at the moment. I myself have a first called degree and have an interview tomorrow for an ''Accounts Manager''. How much do you think they are willing to pay me? £12,850 a year. Thats 2k less than I was on before I had a degree, working as an administrator! I could still get more than that as an administrator if I wasnt desperate, and it is actually good experience, but two years ago they probably would have paid 20k - 25k. Thats the way it is right now. In three or four years time, when everything is bouyont again, people can sympathise about your predicament. In the meantime I wish that you would stop moaning about your salary, and the house that you don''t get to own, and think about those people who DID buy there house, only to subsequently lose the house.... who are now paying rent, and wish that they had a job which provided free accommodation. Some of those people are likely to be local to your church.
16.
Don''t you know what size shoes you wear?
I asked him this in a private message, he went for a bath and they "shrunk in the wash". Seems perfectly feasible to me!On a serious note OP, people would be more willing to take an interest if you sold them on ebay, where they are protected against scammers by paypal. It would be better if you just said "I''m selling some norwich city golf shoes on ebay, heres the link".  You could ask the club for a list of players shoe sizes, maybe one of our new found Norwich crazy players would want a pair.
17. Considering there is already a thread called ''Whaley???'', which was started this afternoon, don''t you think you could have written on there? If anybody had any news on Whaley, which Archant didn''t, don''t you think they would post it without being prompted?Just a thought.
18.
anyone know what maric would cost to buy i rekon a couple of hundred  grand at least.
I thought that he was a free agent? may be wrong....
19. Right, let me put this one to bed. Stefanovic was the one that recommended Maric to the club, they know each other well and share an agent. Stefanovic wants to get into coaching but isn''t ready to stop playing just yet, there are a number of Serbian team that would like him as a player-coach or even player-assistant manager. He will stay if he is wanted by Gunn, and happily leave if he isn''t.... with no pay off, as long as he finds a suitable job first. He also wants to stay if he is wanted around the place, but only if he feels he can get in the team. The whole thing is in Gunn''s hands, but Stefanovic is happy to stay for another year and he believes that Gunn wants him around - he has already sorted this out with the club, and Stefanovic is a Norwich player. He has also started this season as a mentor to two youth players, including Dumic, he is pretty much their personal coach and this is something he is enjoying too. As far as the club are concerned, as well as Stefanovic, if he can get in or around the team the he is a Norwich player this season. Personally I suspect that Stefanovic is still our best centre back, and we will probably see that a couple of months into the season. Remember that Gary Doherty stated that "he is on trial". Same with all of the players, if he plays well he is in the team. Source:- My auntie, friend of a player that IS leaving.
20. Out of all of the trialists we have had, which two would you sign? My instinct (purely instinct, as I am relying on reports and friends that have seen them) would be:- Askou and Maric. But I would only want them at the right price (so reasonable wages). I would also like to see McVeigh on a one year deal, and Troy Powell, so if I could only choose two, then replace either of the above with either of them. If Powell is prepared to play for cheap, then take him on and tell him that he has a year to learn how to use his weaker foot, put him out on loan (to Luton or somebody)...... and see how he does......
21. Would you prefer it if we just called him ''That ol'' riverdancin, Guiness drinkin'', fiddle-a-playin'',  Irish leprachaun''? There have been times when 2 or 3 thousand people have sung "we love you paul mcveigh, despite your lack of height........" Clearly a bloke on a forum can happily called him Paul McSmall if he wishes. Paul McSmall, Paul McSmall, Paul McSmall, Paul McSmall, Paul McSmall, Paul McSmall    <-------------- Does this offend you?
22.

Well done Common Sense. Going back to Doncaster''s analysis in the paper a few months back, £805k was listed as being spent on accommodation, travel, medical etc. We are a Division 3 (old money) club, not a Premiership club.
Too right Tangy, must be a Butlins nearby. If not the YHA is only £9 a night. Let''s get real, fed up with being a laughing stock!
Oh yeah good one, lets put them all in youth hostels full of screaming drunk 18 year old Kiwi''s and Aussies, 4 per room. Then lets see us beat St Johnstone having players that have not slept at all, and then discover that the manky shared air conditioning of those little dives has given our entire squad swine flu. You are lucky to get a Travel Lodge room for £50 a night these days, so seriously get with it!  Me and my missus paid more than that per night in Las Vegas, and I was an office administrator. £100 a night is pretty normal for a half decent hotel. We arent going to sign Preston wingers and Palace forwards by promising them £9 a night slums.
Are you saying youth hostels are slums? Better let the YHA know as soon as possible. Didn''t an expensive player of ours drive out of Dunstan Hall last year stiff stone drunk in his underpants? Nothing wrong with a Travelodge room if its not in a noisy location. OTBC
I wouldn''t begrudge making the players stay at a Travelodge, but a youth hostel is going too far.... I have stayed in some prenty manky youth hostels in my time mate, sorry..... but many of them are nothing better than prison cells!
23. Surely Matty Pattison is a centre midfielder, who can ''do a job'' on the left?
