  1. Starter already starting to row back on his non-dom pledge. The guy is establishment to the core. Anyone thinking we're going to get anything significantly different from the current shower is in for a shock I'm afraid. It might be wrapped up in a more outwardly looking competent exterior, but he'll do what Knights of the Realm have done for centuries and fight gallantly for the elite. Policy-wise there will be little difference between a Starmer government and a Sunak Premiership. He's even hinted that the only issue with the Rwanda policy is the destination.
  2. Probably the lineup I'd have gone for in Wagner's shoes. It's not often I've said that this season.
  3. Can't believe they weren't selling them on Saturday to be honest. Gutted.
  4. I want us to win. Then I can get a half and half scarf.
  5. Is he at some training camp? I know he climbed Chimborazo in Ecuador a few months back, I wouldn't be surprised if he's now at home doing some gym work. Someone I know saw him watching his kid play football at Old Catton a few weeks back. It's not the feat it once was. Rich people with personality disorders have poured so much money into it that there are so many guides and Sherpas to basically do it all for you that legs are not even a requirement anymore. I can almost guarantee you that there will be people on the mountain with him who've never been as high as Kinder Scout and won't even wear a backpack the entire time they're on the expedition.
  6. Pretty much anyone senior with any backbone has left the club under the Webber regime, all to be replaced by millennial-aged Head ofs. This was no coincidence, Webber deliberately engineered a situation where he was completely and utterly unaccountable and surrounded by sycophantic yes-men. And his wife. I'm a millennial myself, but the structure needed a few older, experienced heads. Without it, well, just look at our decline. I think the only old guy in a position of any influence is Neil Adams. I like the bloke, but he's absolutely in the NCFC friendzone and not the sort of guy who is going to say, "Hang on a minute Stu, is that right?". The trouble is, in NCFC parlance, "Hang on a minute Stu, is that right?" has been the equivalent of saying, "Hey, here's my notice".
  7. You say that, but at how many other clubs where a failed Sporting Director leaves a job do they stick around and "help out" the other guy. I suspect you're right and that is what's happening. But even that is ridiculous.
  8. Excellent article and the comment from Steve Stone, if genuine, is very eye-opening. Another example of the brain-drain facilitated by a fragile ego in Stuart Webber, who couldn't stand accountability from anyone. It's a crime that a narcissist like that was allowed to create a position where he was virtually untouchable. Particularly when it turned out that the guy is useless.
  9. He's far from a weird Twitter troll making up rumours. Bloke contributes to My Football Writer and was Sky's go-to guy for that Football Fanzone thing they used to do (or still do?). Put it this way, he's unlikely to have put something like this out there without genuinely believing it has legs. It's not as easy to dismiss as total garbage as most of the ITK stuff you see on social media, nor as easy to dismiss as the defend-the-club-at-all-costs lobby group will tell you it is. For me, it would be incredibly naive to believe that he doesn't have some influence over proceedings, especially whilst his wife is still in such a senior position. However, that's not the same as the utterly ridiculous handover process continuing as planned only with some clandestine manoeuvres taking place to hide it from supporters. To treat someone who has completely and objectively failed at their role for the past 2-3 years, and whose failure has had a devastating impact on the position and direction of this club, as some sort of indispensable genius whose sage knowledge we cannot do without even with his replacement through the door is a total dereliction of duty from Delia and MWJ.
  10. I've heard this little rumour too. Apparently they won't consider it until the end of the season as he doesn't want to jump ship during what could be an historic season for Arsenal and the club don't want to do anything that might jeapordise their chances this season. Silly really, as it's Arsenal, it doesn't matter what they do they will inevitably bottle it. Without the Knapper link I wouldn't think it has any legs. To be honest, I'm not sure it does have legs anyway, but I think it would be amazing if true. He sounds likes a wonderkid of the coaching world.
  11. This is the problem with these stats. There is absolutely no way we were quite fortunate to get a point at St Mary's. We were massively unfortunate not to get all three, denied only by rank officiating. Looking at it holisticly rather than as a single game in isolation, it is embarrassing and depressing that we adopted that approach at home in the Championship. It should never have arrived at the point where anyone deemed it necessary, but we're here because the club has been so woefully mismanaged for years.
  12. I do wonder how different things would have been if Sarge had been fit all season.
  13. Ref is a clown, lino even worse. Somehow, we should be winning this 1-0.
  14. Every **** lineup that leads to losing winnable games that Wagner avoids the chop, Knapper loses credit with more fans. It might not be fair or right, but it's what is happening.
  15. Rumoured to be on £30k plus a year so you'd be wanting a 7 or 8 out of 10 player at this level. He's not performing anywhere near his salary currently. Dreadful to think that Gibson and Stacey are taking home close to £80k a week between them. Think what that could afford. Webber is a total and utter failure.
  16. You missed Stacey. Probably a 4. Webber has had some truly shambolic transfer windows but his last one was the worst. Never in the history of football has so much been wasted on so little. It's like what an Ipswich fan would do on Football Manager, take over Norwich, spaff their season's resources on crap and then resign.
  17. Wagner lost his head when he filled out his team sheet. In fact, I suspect he lost his head during that historically awful run at Schalke which included the worst ever start to a season in Bundesliga history. And he's not found it since. But for being mates with a busted flush of a Sporting Director, he'd be sat on the managerial scrap heap wondering whether his pride will allow him to accept a regional German job or a gig in League Two.
  18. Struggling with this one, Martin has regularly been gushing of his praise of Webber since he left, including this a couple of years ago; "One of Stuart's best traits is that he's a doer. He really gets things done. He's brutally honest with people so everyone knows where they stand from day one," Martin told the Training Ground Guru podcast." He also said he calls him for advice and we sent him a couple of loans whilst at MK Dons. All seemed pretty amiable to me.
  19. Good news for anyone on the season ticket waiting list. There won't be one next year.
