  1. Well said. Certainly agree re ground capacity. Whether we like it or not when FCR becomes a 30,000 plus stadium you will see the media change it''s attitude. Portaloo Road helped the binners in that way. Pity they didn''t pay for the construction and got to host an English International for their wonderful business acumen!! By the way Mr Pedersen, I was at St James''s last night, just wait till you compare the Blackburn support to ours. Congrats to the Toon Army sitting near us. Trus football supporters and came up and shook hands at the end. Nuff respect!!
  2. Sorry Philip, can''t comment on ''cheeseboard'' stuff as I sit in the Upper Barclay but I agree 100% regarding the away support. Everyone who doesn''t attend away games will just have to get used to visiting supporters making a lot of noise at FCR. Most Premiership sides will take up their full allocation of tickets, unlike in the First Divison where perhaps only 4 or 5 sides did. What happened on Saturday is not surprising or a problem. The atmosphere was tremendous all first half. In the second half I could feel frustration creeping in with supporters with poor ref/linesman decisions and our usual tendency to drop deep. This is just human nature and every other ground in the country experiences the same thing. I remember going to Anfield when Goss scored the winner. We were already on our to relegation as Deehan had just volunteered to take over,(!) but we out sung the Scousers - no big deal. Those who have praised Pompey backing last year must remember they got tremendous support in the cup game against Arsenal but then we would have done the same. It''s a mental thing viz. cup game - playing the best team in the country and who wants to progress as premiership survival is most important so let''s enjoy, nothing to lose. They notably increased there vocal support in the later stages of the season when their team played some tremendous attacking football. Where the Canary support is justifiably proud is in the attendance over the last three years. If the ground was bigger we would have been getting nearer 30,000 and of course more than that now!! Finally on this little rant of mine - as someone posted elsewhere, the Barclay and Snake Pit enthusiasm needs to be replicated in other parts of the ground, particularly the City Stand. Perhaps when we finally get a second tier on the pensioners stand it will house a better cross section of support thus helping the atmosphere even more. Meanwhile everybody enjoy the season but less moaning abour our wonderful support please. I much prefer the contructive criticism of team performance from all points of view. See you at Old Trafford - Listen to Y''Army!!
  3. Better than The Guardian though. Sorry students!!
  4. tpotac suggest you get back to reading The Guardian
  5. Well done Wiz. You should work for the club''s PR. They need someone with a bit of go and, dare I say it, imagination. The scum down the road wipe the floor with us when it comes to commincation and getting the media on their side. I believe everything you say so don''t let me down! I''m sure we will all be upbeat prior to the season starting but I really would like some current info from the club. For example, unless I''ve missed something, there are no reports on the progress of the new corner infill or even an artists interpretation. Can''t you do something with your Hexy type things - pass it through a time warp and produce your own design. Sorry but bored out of mind and just looking forward to P.boro tomorrow. Yes I really am that shallow!! Been away for a while. I trust Mrs Wiz is fully fit now.
  6. I just can''t believe what I''m reading! I think he will an excellent addition to the midfield. Holt, Francis and Mulryne are not proven in the Premiership so I think Worthy was always going to strengthen that area and £500,000.00 aint a great sum of money for a player with Prem and international experience - do get real - we''re not a country bumkin club anymore - get used to it. Why is everyone worried about the other areas to be strengthened. I''m sure Worthy is already working on this. OK, if Safri ends up as being the last signing prior to the big kick off I would really worry. Hey folks - don''t panic!
  7. Noticed that they couldn''t sell all their tickets to Portaloo Road. No change there then! Mr John, the well known landlord that rents out all sorts of things, is going to finish with Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Graham Paddon''s Beard - I know you are one of the old Bury clan- when are you finally coming out of the closet. Come on, you know you want to!! Saw the scum executive(sic) on tv tonight. What is wrong with that lot? Whatever they take, I want some for Saturday nights!!
  8. Hi Carl Are you the scouser who frequents our local. You know, the cross dresser with the typical fantastic scouse humour that we all really appreciate?
  9. Sorry BD I think your missing the humour! A couple of great signings, no doubt a few more to come. Can''t wait for next season. Whilst we need some defensive cover, there will be a few opposition defences that won''t rest in their beds prior to a game at FCR. After supporting the Yella''s for 50 years this just has to be the most exciting period and I still can''t take it all in. Perhaps I will when the fixtures are announced. Scrimmage.
  10. Good points all. Plastic Scouser, you are being a bit negative but nevertheless realistic. You ask where were the 50,000 supporters over the last few years. Well the ground has been sold out more often than not over the last three years and part of that time we were playing dire football. 50,000 supporters? We haven''t been able to get 17,000 in the ground until the last couple of months and before that 19,000 maximum. When looking around the crowd on Monday I was impressed with the wonderful range of age groups - all wearing City colours. If only our ground had at least a 30,000 capacity now we would be attracting new and old supporters alike. If, say, we attracted an average of 7000 ''new'' customers, when the peaks turn into troughs like all clubs experience, we would hold on to approximately 3000 thus building up our hardcore support. This is how any organisation expands. Of course the current board are in no way responsible for the comparative small capacity of Carrow Road but it frustrates me that the club cannot take better advantage of this marvellous position we are in. I totally agree that we have to be prudent and I too have every confidence in this seasons attitude of the board but I can dream can''t I? After this fantastic season and following the team home and away with the best supporters in the land, I just want more to enjoy the experience!
  11. Thanks Kennyfoggo for doing this. Great idea. Just added my comments to what is a fantastic list of contributors. Very moving. What a season this has been! Eyes continuall moist, I''m like a wet rag - and there''s still three games to go!!!
  12. Hi Gazza. Yep know Glemsford well, lovely area. There are many yellas in the Bury area including a lot of local of business men. You can imagine after all these years we are having great fun now! You know, the greatest difference between the two sets of fans here, is that we have a great sense of humour and enjoy all things football. The binners, on the other hand, have no sense of humour, can only talk about Scumsville and live in a land of self denial. A bit of a generalistion I know but pretty accurate. The box was fantastic and the Watford staff were brilliant. We were told there were three other boxes with Canary folk in, including some of Craig Flemings party. Finally a word of praise for the poor Watford supporters sitting in front of us. We just could''nt stop singing and they put up with it with great grace. At the end of the game they lined up to shake our hands and wished us good luck next year. A fabulous day. I cried a bit, mixed my drinks and felt quite ill at about 4am on Sunday morning!!! OTBC (hic)
  13. Ok everyone Iam 58 years old I was introduced to the Y''Army 52 years ago. We were in executive box 17 today because, despite that we Bury Boys have been to every home and away game for the last 15 years (well nearly) the only way we could get to Vicarage Roard was by ordering an executive box. You will be pleased to know that, despite my well known right wing views on this board we were terribly well behaved and the Watford staff and supporters in the Rous stand were absolutely fantastic. For the first time in a hundred years we were not with the mighty yellow army for an away game and we were all worried that it would spoil the day-------Wrong. The sight of of you all behind the goal and the fantastic support brought tears to all our eyes. 1st Wizard: I haven''t caught up on how Mrs 1st Wiz is now but I hope all is well. For the rest of you ---- We in Bury St Edmunds are all terribly proud of the support. What a Club. What a Board.......and how about Delia? Can''t wait for Saturday. We love you all!!!
  14. If we could we would Mark! The only problem we have got to adhere to a dress code. No jeans. No replica shirts. No trainers. Looks like we will all arrive in our underpants! Not a pretty sight I can assure you. Gives a whole new meaning to ...... Have a little scrimmage!!
  15. Well said Stumpy. The last 10 years have just been a nightmare and I''ve been to most home and away games in that period. I don''t mind admitting I''ve shed some tears tonight. Not just for me but for all involved in the club and mainly our fantastic supporters. Simply we are the best in the land and now the media will have to recognise us. Look out for executive box 17 at Vicarage Road on Saturday. (The only we way we could get tickets for the Bury Boys!!!)
  16. Well done Susie B.You''ve done us proud. I''m afraid I''m one of the posters who only comes on here every now and then just to stir things up! I am, however, an avid reader of this board and thoroughly enjoy most of the contributors. It is without doubt the best board of all. Keep it up everybody, I''m just too lazy (and old and miserable!) to contribute and/or respond at times. Of course I still worship the Messiah 1st Wizard!!
  17. Free speech Canary Boy. Go read The Guardian!
  18. I see in the Sunday Mail today, Merson is quoted as saying '' Norwich are the best side in this league by a mile'' Over to you Fatty, Ignorant and Obnoxious!! Which description fits what Manager? I suggest Mix ''n Match !
  19. You just don''t seem to have any luck do you BES. One game you have racists sitting near you, the next it''s drunkards. With all that complaining to stewards it''s a wonder you have time for the game!
  20. Not so surprising folks, that Colin would say such nasty things. He is very aware that GM and Worthy would be first in line for the Father Ted equivalent of ''Kicking Father Brennan up the ar-e'' competition. Absolutely no love loss there!!
  21. Absolutely Helsinki. There has to be consistency. Why haven''t the Cardiff supporters had any action taken against them for their anti English chants? Anyhow, it''s not good that it happened but it is an extremely small minority at CR, now its onwards and upwards. From my view from the Barclay, the River End even joined in with the chanting and made it a great atmosphere. Well done all.
  22. I can understand your disgust BES especially as your 12 year old was with you. Would you have been equally upset if someone had called Holt a ''ginger b*****d''? It is sad that after a tremendous afternoons entertainment you had to go home in that frame of mind and I hope that you don''t have to experience that sort of thing again. Carrow Road must be one of the best grounds in the country for crowd behaviour. This is even more impressive when you think we also have growing reputation for creating an intimidating atmosphere for visiting teams. A great combination. By the way, we all know what the referee was being called of course!
  23. 100% agree with you Mook. Horror!!! In the old days when I was Bury Yellow and Bury Belvoir I could never have said that. Am I getting soft and maliable in my old age as I have agreed with most of your postings lately? No that can''t be because I''m still a follower of the one they call.......The Wizard!! How things have changed for us all since the fraught ''will he/ won''t he'' days of December. Anyhow Mook, enjoy your postings. If we do go up (of course there is still the dreaded ''if'' to consider), I think that with the guile of Worthy and the general organisation of the club we could well survive that vital first season. Splendid rush!
