  1. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Foley was made a scapegoat. I have it on good authority from a well respected professional footballer with no NCFC connections that Foley is a very well respected coach. I have yet to hear any confirmation from players that Worthy is of a similar standard. As for Keith Webb and Doug Livermore? Do me a favour! I wish Foley the best of luck in his new job. They will at least play football in the correct manner even if they are in a critical financial position.
  2. Sorry to have to debate with you again GOTF but where do you get the impression we are broke? Where have you read in the accounts that would justify your statement? If the two majority shareholders walked away tomorrow and just took with them the money they loaned to the club plus an agreed interest rate - the club would be in a healthy state assets wise mainly because of the land we own and potentially going to sell less what we own in loans. Of course that wouldn''t happen as they would only sell their shares to a high bidder. Anyone got a few million to spare? Now we know that no ongoing business gets to that position because it continues to invest and trade but to say the club is broke is rather like me saying I have a mortgage of £250,000.00 on a house worth £500,000.00 and stating that I am broke because I owe £250,000.00. Apologies for simplistic example, but I hope you get my drift. Finally I do agree that there would be a provison to rid us of Worthy if the board so wished but why would they when he is so highly rated within football and constantly mentioned when managerial vacanies that arise.....not!
  3. Goodness me Fence. You are remarkable fellow (I assume you are of the male gender). Apart from the fact that your comments always seem to be crass, with the greatest of respect, I don''t think you get it. Most of us are not complaining that we dont win matches, it''s the style of play and the wonderment of what exactly the coaching staff do to earn their money. It is no exageration to say that I see better football being played on the local pitches on a Sunday. I sit in the Upper Barclay and I can assure you there is nobody in our vicinity that would agree with any of your postings. You seem constantly to imply that because most of us have renewed our season tickets that we actually support Worthington and everything the club does. You are wrong - it''s just that we are all loyal supporters of the club and I would say the vast majority of us can''t wait for Worthy to go. Now, you never know, Worthy might go through some type of time warp and with a really decent coach we could start playing pass and move football again. The board might emphasise ''ambition'' a bit more rather than the prudence which seems to have given the directors a healthy balance sheet. I hope for all this but I just can''t see it happening. I sincerely hope I wrong.
  4. Herb You are another of the small clan who seems to think that anyone who criticises anyone or anything about the club is not a supporter. I could even accept that, but you, Squit and the others never put forward your a point of view without making some sort of infantile remark more suitable for the playground. If you think ''Foghorn'' is wrong then why not put forward your reasons. For example, if your philosophy in life is that you should never strive that little bit extra, make some calculated risks for yourself, friends or family in order to improve your situation( Sorry Worthy); if you attend Carrow Road on a regular basis, which I assume you do, and you go there for a nice cup of tea and a chat with your mates and cannot get worked up about what''s happening on the pitch - then that''s fine but do let us all know without being rude to your fellow supporters. I have to say I feel Worthy is a very lucky man to have kept his job but I happen to think that the board could well be culpable in all this and now appears to lack any decent ambition. It could well be that Worthy has suffered because of it. I worry when examining the financial reports for last year and see how much Delia and Michael are worth within the club. It does not rest easily with me when so many supporters seem to slavishly follow the words (wise??) of Delia. I am not so sure that success on the pitch is now the main target. When I mean success I do not mean middle/lower of the Championship. Mr Munby has come out with his usual excellent statement today that, if I could believe it, would bring a bit of hope but frankly words are cheap - where is the action. I hope my gloomy attitude is proved wrong but I aint holding my breath. Meanwhile keep posting ''Foghorn'' I agree with all your sentiments.
  5. Well blow me blahblahblah. All your posts and opinions fall into place. You used the word ''Narrich'' You are a binner. You could even work for Norwich Union!!
  6. Totally agree. All your points are well made. I have thought for a long time the City Stand is an embarrasment to look at and there is no doubt it does effect the atmosphere in the ground and, as you mention, the overall look of the stadium. The old wooden main stand was bigger and allowed for a more cross section of supporter types which generated much more noise than the existing stand. It has also been mentioned on past threads that if the great Worthy One is to stay, then it''s best to invest the money elsewhere other than give to him. After all, what player has improved under Worthy? Nope can''t think of one.
  7. I reluctantly renewed my season ticket last week and sent a letter to Mr Doncaster under separate cover expressing my WO views. Frankly I was shocked at his reply which intimated there was no way Worthington was going and this was AFTER the Preston disgrace. I am not a great one for mass demonstrations and, generally, would much prefer to rely on the intelligence and football knowledge of some members of the board to win through. I am now of the very strong opinion, however, that we must now follow our genuine instincts and protest in the ground vociforously. I cannot believe the garbage that is eminating from the club. It is so incredulous as to make one beleive there is some deep mysterious agreement between Worthy and the board, for example it could have gone like this ''we want to build up capital in the company, we wont give you much money to spend but in return we guarantee you a job irrespective of performances on the field'' It may not be true but just look at the latest balance sheet from the club and see who benefits from this wonderful property company that we support - then look at what we have achieved on the pitch these last two seasons. Come on all --- Let''s be havin'' him and his coaches out and if that doesn''t work it''s time to look at the board!!
  8. Well said mate. I couldn''t put it better. I''ve supported City for 50 years and I too cannot recall being so downhearted and frustrated with the situation. The board did a magnificent job galvanising support and now it will drip away unless our wishes are granted. I couldn''t bring myself to renew my season ticket but I will in the next few weeks and like my mates it will be accompanied by a letter to Doomcaster (although perhaps we can call him Doncaster again as I feel he might just be a Worthy outer now!) OTBC whatever
  9. Noting the time of your post Mello, whatever you are on I don''t want it. All the KTfs points of view have a common thread and that is ''we are only a small club be grateful for where we are'' I think this is one of the main areas of disagreement with the rest of us. You have your point of view Mello but I just don''t agree with you. I also take exception to the tone of your post and the likes of ''Squit'' ''Dicky'' et al whereby there is this implication that the W/outers are either fairweather supporters or are disloyal. If you are happy with the style of football that is being served up. If you are happy that funds distributed for players are of the correct percentage. If you are happy with the Manager. If you are happy and accept the Robinson transfer fee loan etc etc was a marvellous gesture by some of our directors for example. Well great good for you. You obviously enjoy your trips to Carrow Road not forgetting the away trips we all go on. What an education that is you will agree. I and many others will continue to support the club but just as importantly we need Executive boxes sold and the bigger independent investors to stay on board with the club. I know of at least two who will not renew their investment next year should this situation continue. It could well be that there will be some exciting signings in this week befitting a club our size. The problem is I cannot recall one player that Worthy has signed who has improved under his coaching. Oh dear!!
  10. George Burley and I actually think there is every chance he will take over. A friend of Delia plus he and family live locally. Whoever it is - pleeeeese sooner rather than later. I''m off to Crewe and I''m desperate to rekindle pride in my team!!
  11. But this is just what the board wanted. Cetain members of our board worship at the alter of New Labour and have obviously had training at spin and avoiding the big questions. Anyone at the AGM would have experienced it. I readily admit I went there to say my bit but after the first few cap doffers had had their say me,and all of the other shareholders who sympathised with the ''Worthy out'' point of view had the same feeling ie. ''This has been manipulated so if you tell it how it is you risk being humiliated'' Call me a coward but me and my Bury chums left after question 11 (I think). It was pointless so we retired to a pub agreeing that Worthy will eventually have to go anyhow, unless our board really are that thick! Frankly this never ending pouring out of players quotes is extremely embarrasing. Is there anyone out there who really believes all this tripe? Of course they are not going to say what they really feel are they? I also fell that this moral outrage against the message board rumours is simply a diversion for the real problems. I hope the board are proud of themselves because they have made the national press with these crocodile tears and in doing so started to destroy the image of supporters who are the best in the land. To drag Leon into the latest PR excercise simply doesnt wash. If Leon was worried about his child at school why didnt he come out with all this a few months ago? No, it stinks of diversary tactics and a lot of supporters buy it!! I hope and think that the board are not stupid but they have dugged themselves into an ever deepening hole and sometime soon the nettle will have to be grasped. I appeal to them that when they do, please do not blame or involve the supporters in the delayed decisions. The irony is that we have a board of talented people who are experienced in running businesses (except Delia of course!) I just do not know how they could have sat there on Monday night and listened to pathetic mind wandering explanations from Worthy as to why we have been awful for the last 15 months. It has often been said that a team reflects the personality of the manager. I just do not understand the boards motives. The spin that comes out via the media is unbelievable and Iam beginning to wonder what are the motives behind all this. Finally Iam happy to disclose my identity together with all like minded supporters.
  12. Oh No!! I agree with you Mook. I would add that it appears many people forget the influence Williams had on the team when he became coach under David Stringer. We previously had enjoyed a wonderful spell and then Williams came along. We then started passing the ball sideways and backwards and the fortune of the club mirrored that culminating in Stringer resigning. Williams then ended up as youth coach at Leeds and Man Utd and was not a success at either club. He was then in the wilderness for a long time. His last job (I think) was as a driving instructor when Worthy rescued him. Worthy only appoints people who are not a danger to his job - Nuff said. For goodness sake if this weak board finally gives Worthy the push, please please lets appoint a good proven manager. We should be a great attraction, so long as the board sells the club as a big vibrant go ahead set up with fantastic supporters......... or should I just dream on!
  13. Ah Good Old Dicky - and I suppose you thought Sutch was a good player too. We all have our opinions and we all have the club at heart, I just dont think you agree with that statement Dicky do you? I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend with all the other blind loyalty lot. I won''t. I am pig sick as to what is happening to our club. If Delia wants to release any more sanctimonious statements like the one earlier this week she will find she is going to have a fight on her hands - starting at the AGM on Monday. Of course if she doesnt like it she can sell all the Carrow Road land for development at a very nice figure and pocket a very nice profit from her involvement in NCFC. How''s that Doff Cappers.
  14. Two brilliant posts. I have thought this for a long time now and couldn''t put it better. This is highlighted all the more by the teams that got promoted to the Premisership this season. I can guarantee the word ''little'' will not be used by their staff to describe their teams. I can only add that I think the ''Litttle Norwich'' attitude does us no good at all and can have an effect on players, managre and coaching staff. I know of no business that would portray itself this way. This goes further of course, with Doomcaster coming out with his usual  ''we,ve no money'' act. This often occurs just before an important match, so folks, listen out for some utterings tomorrow!!
  15. I. like many others, have been reading all the posts since the ''Worthy problem'' has really raised it''s ugly head. I admit that I am an anti Worthy man, even during the promotion year and certainly during last year; but to sum up the whole clubs attitude and in a way, a defence of Worthy to positive progress, my question is ''Are the board REALLY in it for the sporting achievements and the fans, or is it the comfort of land ownership and all the security that it achieves?'' To help you in this answer I ask you this one question - West Brom, who are if anything a smaller club than us have just spent 3 million on the 20 year old Luton centre half Davies(?). If we had survived last year would we have done the same thing? In my opinion I would say No Chance! I also hope the board are thinking more sensible thoughts than that reflected in the outpourings of the press. What do they take us for? It really is totally embarassing telling us who they were after and why we didn''t secure their signatures. Geography was not a problem in the past. Could it be that the whole set up of the club is not quite right. Please don''t quote Ashton, because anyone who was at Stoke this week didn''t need a GSCE A pass to realise that the old boy is p---d off like the rest of the dressing room. To Dicky and all the other admirably blinkered supporters, I will lay prostrate in front of you if Worthy gets us out of this. I also appeal to you to be more inquisitive to what your board is doing (ie if you are shareholders of course!) It is the same ''supporters'' who criticise that we don''t get behind the team. They simply miss the point. Those of us who go to home and away games DO get behind the team but we also see 90 minutes not the highlights. We know how simply awful we are. If I''m proved right, I appeal to all supporters to have a mindset that we are a reasonable size club that continually under achieves. We should aim for middle of Premiership which is our rightful place. Nothing is achieved unless you aim high. I say to the board ''I know you know what a poor position we now find ourselves in so lets raise ourselves to the next level if we cant get Martin O''Neill lets go for Kevin Keegan or at least someone whose been there and done it. If you are serious in improving our club, cut the spin. Please ignore the small minded brigade, who you take advantage of and bleed on a regular basis. Who are you kidding? Get real and join the real world!!! Lets have some action. I admit I will always be part of the crowd but I want to see a regular crowd of 30,000 plus before I die !! With our catchment area it is a disgrace that we still cant get that many customers into our ground. Sorry for the usual rant but NCFC is my outlet from a highly pressurised but enjoyable life. Perhaps it is made more sensitive being amongst the Binners where BFG continues to do a fine job against all odds but at least does have a positive club behind him despite all their distasteful actions amongst the local business community. OTBC
  16. I too thought that the Foley illness might have had an effect on the statrt of the season. I understand from Colchester contacts that Foley is very popular with the players. The Davis Williams point I am not sure on at all. If you all remember he was the coach that joined David Stringers staff when we were doing really well and as he became more of an influence changed us into a ''Ray Wilkens'' style nightmare. This resulted in Stringer eventually resigning. Williams was not successful at either Leeds or Man Utd and was latterly a driving instructor apparently until being rescued by Norwich.
  17. Of course it''s not Worthy''s fault. We can all see what he''s trying to do. Pass and move football, after all he keeps saying he encourages the traditional Norwich passing game. It''s not his fault that any moderately intelligent Yella can''t perceive what pass and when!! What ever you do don''t criticise him or his highly qualified coaching team or you''ll be crucified on this board for not being loyal!! Yeh right
  18. As a regular reader of the site but cannot contribute that often, I must say this is an excellent thread with sensible comments from all sides of the ''argument'' I saw all the pre season games and there is no doubt that Colin is a far better player than MLR, but then Flem/Doc were a complete disaster and when Shacks came on he looked a class act but still didn''t influence the great Worthy''s selection for the Coventry game!! I must say that whilst Colin would be in ahead of MLR any day I did think MLR showed signs of improvement as the Crewe game developed. Remember that MLR did not play too many games last year so didn''t really contribute too much to Forest''s relegation. Some of Worthys signings have been sensible (Jarrett will be a firm crowd favourite) but that old thorny question regarding the quality of coaching staff simply will not go away. If Worthy will not act to improve the quality of his coaching team and if he will not come clean on why he is not willing to invest on another central defender and proper ball playing midfielder, he very much risks being out of a job by January if results are not up to expectations. If the board are doing the dirty on him again then he should let us know. We will never have a better chance for promotion than this year. I have to say, though, that it''s not just results, it''s tactics and substitutions etc. that worry me as well. Just look at the coaching team - who are they? What have they achieved? I rest my case. Please do not mention David Williams - he was the coach that encouraged the side ways movement  a la Ray Wilkins and destroyed everything Dave Stringer built, resulting in relegation and Stringer''s resignation. If anyone can reassure me that this current team know what what their responsibilities are on the pitch I will be delighted. Most of the time it''s like watching local football. The club has no excuse now. Whether they like it or not they are favourites to go up. Whether they like it or not they have more money than most in this league. The board have to decide why they exist. Is it to be dynamic and be involved in sport or is it to run a property development company!! Sorry folks - there are some really super contributions on this board but I still really worry about the whole set up of the club. Our supporters who can attend the games are brilliant. Those who say we do not get behind the team should go to away games. The team must play in a way that encourages vocal support. It''s the same whether you are Geordie, Scouser, Cockney or a Yella! I think that covers most things. Mrs BY wants my body now - so - off to bed!
  19. Dont hold your breath. Did you read Doomcasters answer to the question why we didn''t sign Ashton at the beginning of the season when we apparently had the chance? Absolute nonsense. Never mind whilst there''s Chicken and the rest who protest against anyone who fails to worship at the alter of the Reverend Worthy and (some) of the board, they will think they are getting away with it. Got my letter from Roger Munby today - now he really is a top bloke! See you all next year -home and away. OTBC
  20. Totally shocked to hear the news Wiz. As you are aware I m away for many days during the week and can only update at certain weekends, plus to aggrevate all this my nephew knows my password and stirs it all up!!! Hence my peculiar postings at times!! My thoughts are with you and so are all my fellow south west suffolk yellas. Get well soon but relax - we will give a shout on your behalf tomorrow. OTBC
  21. Yeh well - Yeh thats right innit? All who left early are morons aren''t they - Yeh right. Some fans of 50 years plus have to leave early for various reasons. Whether it''s for family reasons or for old war wounds because they (me) cannot walk in crowds because of knee probs. I will keep attending all home games and most away game despite big time pain - Yeh right? It''s probably not your fault that your school didn''t teach you to compose a letter correctly but try to give some thought to the English language before posting in future. Go on give it a go!
  22. I appreciate I can only get on this board occasionally but the above headline on the Pink un site seems to sum up what I have gone on and on and on about over the last couple of years, ie. the PR of the club and the very poor image they portray of NCFC. In reality we are a medium to large club that has, over the years, underachieved. Arguably there are several reasons for this but whatever goes on, on the field, there is no excuse whatever how we portray ourselves off the field. The Thomas comment, although not quite as bad as the headline suggests, typifies the poor performance of our PR department. When you think what this club is achieving, mainly through the fantastic support, what on earth is the PR departments standing when such naff information gets through to the national media when Thomas suggests Ashton is too good for city!! If you run a business, you may have the finest product in the world but if you don''t sell it correctly, it is a complete waste of time. I digress: What club does Thomas suggest Ashton should have gone to? Well what do you know - Crystal Palarse. Why not other media friendly clubs? West Brom, Spurs (Yeh right). I acknowledge it is very difficult with our geographical position to impress ignorant media people but that shouldn''t stop us trying. I think we fail miserably. I also think it is extremely important whether we go down or not that we start a campaign to change the image of NCFC from this parochial, small family club to a professional, potential 35000 supported dynamic ambitious football club. A second tier to the awful City Stand that looks like a renegade from the Vauxhall Conference will help when we can afford it. ASAP please! Dont agree with me? Well we all know that we are a bigger club than Ipsh-- but just ask any media Johnny which club is the bigger and you won''t like the answer. Fair do''s to the binners, they have always been more progressive than us and they never, ever, ever, criticise their supporters! I have to admit, that living amongst them is difficult, and that their financial actions are a disgrace, but PR wise they have been absolutely brilliant. The national media thinks Sheepshanks and co are brilliant and the purple cheeked one will never ever criticise their support or even mention so called ''fair weather'' support. Quite right too, because, unlike some comments on this board, all clubs have very keen support but also ''fair weather types'' who are not prepared to watch sub standard rubbish that is put before them. What''s wrong with that? They have the right to do that although I admit I have supported City home and away for 40 years but then I''m just stupid! Before all the ''I will not hear any criticism of my club - Get behind your team whatever'', get out of their pram and jump on my back, let me say that what would make me more proud of the club is, if I could listen to the national media giving us a fair report on a level playing field with other clubs our size and not this condescending nonsense where the impression is - ''Oh it''s little Norwich - we feel sorry for them, let''s give then a pat on the head - jolly good. They''ll soon be back with the Crewe''s of this world. Now then where are the bigger clubs? Ah good Ipswich should be back where they belong soon. Marvellous club. Big club 30,000 plus capacity - held an England international you know.(Funny - No mention that it was held in a ground not paid for!) Don''t believe me? I invite you to investigate further. Would Thomas have commented the same way on Ipswich? I apologise for ranting on, but apart from being bored on this Easter Saturday, I just want to be part of a dynamic organisation that portrays everything good about Norfolk and Norwich. I fear we sell ourselves well short at the moment. So much so that our local paper picks up a comment from a third rate pl
  23. Fantastic post BBB. I agree will your points and very well made too. Our gang have had many discussions on Worthy having a top adviser. We have come to the consclusion that he would refuse. He appears to be very much his own man. My worry is that the coaching staff lacks experience at the top level with Livermore and Webb (Who he?) in a comfort zone. Now that Micheal W Jones has more time to get involved I am reasonably confident that all the coaching staff will have to maintain and improve pretty damn quick. This man is a winner and will not be happy if the club fails to progress. Another inference of your post is the continual attitude that permeates from the club that we are only a small club and still come forward with ''we have no money'' etc. With a stadium of 30,000 plus we would fill it. Every thing is relative but that doesnt equate to a small club.  Our PR has still a lot to learn. To be honed as a friendly club is ''nice''; to be lauded as a go ahead club with brilliant support would be better!
