1. We could have a Dion theme where we all pay homage to the ''big'' man. What are the two things he''s famous for again? Playing the saxophone and....
2. I think the scariest thing about next season will be that we will have (thus far): Goalkeepers - 2 Right backs - 2 (I assume Velasco has a two-year contract at least), Left backs - 1, Centre backs - 2 Right wing - 2, Left wing - 2 (I''m counting Pattison and Lappin), Central midfield - 2 (and that IS counting Fozzy) Strikers - 2 I admit that those figures are not exactly definite (Hucks might stay, we may keep the Jarvis brothers etc) and only counts players who are in the first team on a regular basis so no Steer, Rudd, Cave-Brown, Renton, Spillane and co. Roeders needs money and desperately; even if we fill in the blanks with loans they are not cheap. I have full faith in Mr Roeder but his hands looked very tied....
3. Popping onto the BBC Football website, the Norwich section seemed to be dominated by ''naughty'' stories which are extremely rare in all the time I''ve supported the club. Roeder and Clark being hit by FA fines, drink-driving bans and so on. Are Norwich finally shaking off their image as a nicey-nicey club? Is this a good thing or bad?
4. Blimey! I was tempted to go along and give a bit of support to a ''local'' team but at £20 a ticket?! Nuts to that
5. Don''t worry Mr Chops, we''re not going down. However next season we''ll have a team without Dublin, Huckerby, Evans, Bertrand etc and come July 1st will have a squad of roughly 15 players. Still, at least Roeder will have lots of money to get in replacements......
6. Only started watching since the mid-90s and though I''m aware of Keelan, Peters et al I''ll only include players I''ve seen pull on the shirt when I''ve been there. Green Nedergaard Kenton Mackay Drury Bentley Francis Holt Eadie Ashton Bellamy No Huckerby?! Blimey.
7. From having the ''official'' number-and-name on the back of the shirt thing, Eadie was always 11. Mulryne was 10. I also know he became number 9 at Leicester
8. I''d love to see Kris Commons here. He''s another who''s out of contract at the end of the season. He does love Forest though which may make things tricky. £300,000 may be enough. I''m not a big fan of short-term loans. They cost a lot of money and the player either does badly and it''s a waste (Lisbie, Benjamin, Boyle etc), or they do well and get recalled and their value goes through the roof (Taylor, Parker, nearly Huckerby etc).
9. I was going to ask about that. I thought we''d got a new kit but then realised it was the old one. I''ve always thought our away kit being red was stupid as we''re always going to wear it when playing teams who wear yellow and red, orange or gold. I think our away kit would clash more with Wolves, Blackpool and, say, Hull than our lighter home one
10. Great question! Huckerby Malky Ashton Roberts Green Kenton Francis McVeigh (pre-2005) Bellamy Mulryne (pre-2005)
11. Please can people stop doing this?! It''s not funny, it''s not clever, it just wastes five seconds of my life I''ll never get back.
12. Sorry but he was rubbish. I''m surprised we managed to get any money for him let alone £125k. Don''t dislike him as a person but then again I don''t dislike him as a person but then again I didn''t dislike Steve Walsh but am not lamenting his absence from our current squad
13. I agree with most of what''s been said but don''t forget the ''needs must'' for Ipswich at the moment. Youth players can often come through with over-inflated fanfare and then fade away into nothing. Think of Ryan Jarvis, Billy Clarke, Matty Fryatt, Kevin Lisbie or Trevor Benjamin. At the end of the ''90s when we had no money and lots of injuries we had in our ranks: A Marshall (Eng u-21), L Marshall (Eng U-21), Green (went on to become full Eng), Eadie (Eng U-21, trained with full squad), O''Neill (Rep Ire), Coote (N. Ire), Bellamy (Wales), Llwellyen (Wales) Mills (Eng U-21) and Russell, Forbes, Kenton, Allen and Wilson. Probably forgotten one or two as well. What I''m trying to say is that youth players often come through and thrive if 1) they''re an exceptional talent like Rooney or the ManYoo ''kids'' or 2) the clubs are forced to use them because they can''t afford to bring in other players which ultimately aids in their development. Too lately our board have been shelling out on journeymen. If we REALLY had no money for signings I''m sure Cave-Brown, Spillane, Rossi Jarvis and Lewis would all have come through and people would be waxing lyrical about the POTENTIAL of our youth policy. On a lighter note, and if people are bored, why doesn''t everyone post their all-time favourite Norwich Youth Team XI? I''ve only supported Norwich ardently for about 11 years so my knowledge will be lss than a lot of others (I noticed it was really tough getting a good LB and CMs) Green; Drury (technically!), Shackell, Kenton, Mills; Eadie, L Marshall, Russell, Forbes; Bellamy, Sutton
14. We struggled because we lost Edworthy, Jonsson, Svensson, Helveg and Francis whilst other players like Holt and Fleming had already peaked and David ''Bnetley'' returned to Arsenal. Mackay and Roberts had already been shown the door. Worthington then brought in a load of rubbish in the form of Thorne, Marney, Hughes, Robinson, Louis-Jean and Colin. All on long and expensive contracts. Finally we changed from our attacking, passing 4-3-3 system which had worked so well when we got promoted to a kind of 4-4-1-1 which involved players lumping the ball up from our penalty box to Dean Ashton who was supposed to win these, beat five men and score. Huckerby at this point was being marked out of the game by three defenders at any one time. Add to this players being played ridiculously out of position (Simon Charlton in central midfield anyone?), an over-use of the loan system and Green, Ashton, McVeigh and McKenzie being riled up and that''s how it happened. Possibly missed loads out but that''s out downfall in four easy steps.
15.

Then u obviously dont undertand what a ''fact'' is then do ya
sorry simon did i wright fact wrong
No but you did write wright wrong
no he didnt, he spelt wright correctly W-R-I-G-H-T. thats exactly how id spell wright. now if he meant to write "write", then indeed he spelt it incorrectly. [:)]
Blimey Fattyowls, my head hurts. Are you saying he wrote write right but spelt write wrong?
It''s ''wrongly'' anyway
16. I see your point but QPR are, of course, a London club and just down the road from Chelsea and WHam. If players available for loan really care more about money and location than playing, which I believe is the case, do you think they''d rather go to West London or Norwich? This isn''t meant to sound like a rude response, it just goes to show how our perceived location ("perceived" because Norwich really is a fantastic city) lets us down.
17. Can the moderators not just ban rubbish like this? For every person that finds this funny (you not included) I''ll give you a pound. You''d never tell it was half-term
18. Actually Gazza, I wouldn''t mind if the new manager was your dog. I''ve always thought he was a bit of a legend. What''s his name?
19. I don''t care how old or how vocal the new manager is. I just want flowing, passing (on the deck) and, yes even, attacking football by 11 men being played in their proper positions and who care about the club.
20. What?! How is Hartson a bad player? How many strikers in The Championship have played in continental cup finals and won league titles? Hartson is about as talented an old-fashioned British #9 you''ll find. I''m very happy we''ve got him and am amazed that everyone else seems to be aghast at the idea
21. I''d absolutely love Jewell, not so much for what he did at Wigan but what he did with Bradford (except of course for Carbone). Whoever the new manager is going to be one from this list: Jim Duffy, Ricky Martin, Dion Dublin, Malky Mackay, Gary Holt, Nigel Worthington or Danny Wilson
22. I agree with Jas. Grant is obviously not a world-class manager and though he didn''t successfully manage to sort out the dross he inherited from Worthless (who is still attributable IMHO) I genuinely believe he gave it a good shot. He saw all his star players walk out thanks to ridiculous loopholes in their contracts, kicked out a lot of rubbish like Hughes, Robinson, Louis-Jean etc, was unlucky with injuries and I do believe that he wasn''t too bad in the transfer market (Marshall, Otsemobor, Cureton, Russell etc). I''ll probably get slated for saying this but I didn''t think Grant was too bad a manager given the mess he took over and the ''prudence with stupid contracts'' of the board. All the best PG!
23. Also I''m not an expert on football accounts but don''t when a club sells a player, doesn''t the selling club have to completely pay the remainder of that player''s contract? For instance if Earnshaw is on £10,000pw and he has another 2 years left and we sell him, WE have to pay HIM over a million to effectively terminate his contract and allow us to cash in. So we get £3.5m which is whittled down to £2.5m (in terms of balancing the books). When we signed Huckerby, this was a big sticking point from Man City''s point of view until Huckerby decided to waive the right to be paid the remainder of his contract. Personally I find this all ridiculous but I''m fairly sure it''s true. So when we release players, flog them off cheaply or even make a profit on them, we still lose money from doing so. Selling Hooze for £250,000 would have shown up on the accounts as being -£500,000 or something silly. This is why people always bang on about wages being such a big part of the problem with regards to finance. And don''t even get me started on signing-on and agent''s fees
