  1. Can''t help but feel that if Lehmann does anything wrong - anything - and Greeno does a couple of superb things, as we know he can - frequently - that it might just speed up what some people think is the sad inevitable, whether it''s now (very unlikely), in January (more likely), or next summer (very likely if the worst happens to us).
  2. westoncanary, no I wasn''t on fanzone. Why do you ask? (Was there a blonde midget who knows very little about football on there then?)
  3. I''ve just got in the usual way for the first time in two days! Yippee! Hopefully things are now ok. Thanks to all concerned for sorting it out.
  4. The cheese is going mouldy in all of this horrid rain, gazza! I still have about 30 CHEESEBOARD signs (laminated) in a box in my office. Am waiting to hear from Mr. Cheeseboard (or his son) to make arrangements for these to be collected before a game; however I would love to know what happened to the first batch I made. Are any lurking in cupboards as bizarre promotion souvenirs, I wonder?
  5. Like you guys, I love this formation too, although I can see Worthy being too cautious to adopt it, at least in the beginning. I just wonder if there will come a time when he feels he has to throw caution to the wind in order to get some serious points on the board (well, more than one anyway!) as we might be losing regardless of his preferred 4-4-2. I''m convinced we create and hence score more playing 4-3-3, it''s just a case of can we pack the midfield when we need to, to protect the defence adequately, and simply score more than the opposition to make it work? Won''t know until we try!!!
  6. I know it wasn''t a quiz question, westoncanary, but this time last year I think we might have been suffering a humiliating defeat at the hands of Northampton Town if my memory serves me right. As you said, remember where we were this time last season! Makes you think, doesn''t it?
  7. Ooooh - cheese! Need a small fix right now. Anyway, just to say that, whilst I am still being patient re: the problems with the site, I am still not able to access the site normally at all. The pretty blank screen prevails at every attempt, and I end up getting in the same way as I did yesterday. Am I alone in having these problems today?
  8. With all the sentiments here being directed towards a ritual stuffing for the ignorant peasant, never mind him not coming to Norwich, perhaps he should try Bernard Matthew''s factory at Gt. Witchingham! Whoever gets him is welcome to him - him and his inflated ego. Why the need to even mention any particular club in his sideswipe? If we ever come up against him I predict a Muscatesque reception. Can''t wait!!!
  9. Interesting that Iain Dowie says there will be players leaving as well as some arriving. I don''t think this is necessarily for financial reasons just that those falling down the pecking order will be looking for first team football elsewhere. I just hope that none of our current squad who got us promoted last season will feel that way if we buy anyone else before 31/8. Would like them to stay together for this season at least.
  10. I was there too, gazza, and really enjoyed it. The one thing that struck me about the young lads who came on in the second half was their size - or lack of it! I know that this is a case of ''pot calling kettle black'' as I''m knee-high to a stunted grasshopper, but you couldn''t help but notice. (Get a supply of grow bags Worthy, and make them stand in them overnight!) Would love to meet up with you gazza at a forthcoming ressies game, if that is possible. Would be good to have a chat and a sing song!
  11. The more clubs in turmoil the better for us. Now imagine if we can get something tomorrow. Newcastle will join the list - if only temporarily! Brum Uni Canary - Hucks obviously cannot make up his mind between Sainsburys and Waitrose at Eaton, as he''s been seen in there several times as well. At least he''s not an Asda man, hey?!
  12. But, gazza, Johansson is just as long as Scowcroft so you''ll still end up paying the same!!!
  13. Have any of you seen a post on the ncfc-fans site about a City scout being at the Crewe v Hammers game on Saturday? Makes for interesting reading and a photo of the alleged scout is there too via a link. If true, this begs the question of whether he was indeed watching Harewood or Ashton (or Nowland, who is mentioned in the West ham site link), or killing two birdies (or three!) with the proverbial one stone. The plot thickens!
  14. "United''s support in strong voice"...don''t make me laugh! How do they account for the fact that 3000 outsang 64000+ for more than 90 minutes then?
  15. I am having problems today and am only into the mb now as I have accessed through a NewsNow story published on the site. Like others, all I am getting is a white screen when I try to access the site in the normal way. Is anyone else having the same problems today?
  16. Must admit my heart skipped a beat when I drove past FCR yesterday and saw the advertising board that said ''Next Home Game v Arsenal''!!! It''s little things like that that really bring home the reality of it all.
  17. You probably won''t get any takers for this now, but you might if you say something like: Green to Arsenal in January for 2 million plus Bentley. Not that I think it will happen, but it''s possibly more likely than it actually happening right now.
  18. Yeah - like he would have done, of course! Greeno did himself no harm whatsoever with that display yesterday. More of the same and I think Sven might remember his phone number, if he isn''t too busy with other things!!!
  19. I feel a bit like you, cityangel - life is indeed too short, although some of the above-mentioned can be very irritating sometimes. Then again, I''m sure I am...sometimes!
  20. hucks fizz, you''ve hit the nail on the head re: the fans. To outsing 64000 (supposed) ManUre fans was a terrific achievement. More of the same at St. James'' on Wednesday please! Also, I hope there will be a massive effort to emulate their decibels next Saturday when the guys are going to need every ounce of support they can get. Remember Portsmouth! 0-5 down and still singing their hearts out. We MUST do the same - we wear the No 13 shirt after all!
  21. I feel 50+ after that game today but I''m so proud of our efforts that I''m still 21-and-a-bit having looked in the mirror!!! (Hope you are feeling better today than yesterday cityangel. Bet the bill was a nasty shock! You should be dentalphobic and have to have special treatment. You don''t pay anything then!)
  22. I think we have to remember that Helveg flew back from Poland on Thursday having played 90 mins out there the day before. He did look a bit tired, so maybe Eddy could get the nod on Wednesday to give him a rest. Francis did indeed have a stormer - he looked physically up to it and, should Safri be fit, I would go with those two on Wednesday, especially if Safri is as tough as people seem to think he is. Again (I know XXL will hate me for saying this) Holty stood off too much and did not get tackles in when it was most important to do so. (Remember, he didn''t get a tackle in on Routledge last weekend before the ball was slipped through to Johnson). At the moment I just feel that he is not being as effective as we know he can be, but perhaps he is finding it tougher than some. Still, great for McVeigh to score and nice to hear Alan Smith give us some credit for putting them under the cosh for the last 15/20 minutes. Neil Adams on Canary Call said our season effectively begins after 28th August. Perhaps it''s then when we can begin to see our true Premiership credentials and when there needs to be some serious picking up of points as any this week would be such a bonus!
  23. Pincer -well done! You''ve beaten me to it with this thread. I only want to talk in positive terms so will just say that McKenzie gave us pace and he looked menacing. Could have levelled it near the end too. Football in the Prem (so far) doesn''t seem so much about having a big target man, but more about slicing defences apart with swift passing moves - and McK gives us that. I would start him on Wednesday, but I''m not the manager!
  24. Poor Mullers - he''s much nicer in real life! Don''t like picking on youngsters but James Milner anyone?
  25. I thought it was Blackburn, rich, although I might be wrong - but either way we should be grateful we have nothing going for us. Norwich is not a place to tether an ego of that size! Presumably he has bigger fish to fry, but we all know what can happen to fish in bigger ponds, don''t we? Obviously he doesn''t know Steeno the Great!
