  1. IMHO, the error was from Krul rather than Hanley. It looks to me like he called so Hanley leaves it but then chickened out and was left in no mans land!
  2. I’m a huge advocate of Mario and always have been. It annoys me so much how little game time he gets. The key is you can see how much all the other players give him the ball when he’s on the pitch. He always drives us forward. Technically one of the best players we’ve ever had but I fear he may not get the recognition he deserves. Although these free kicks will help!
  3. If everyone’s fit, same as Tues night. We played some very good football and as already mentioned, it would be good for some consistency in team selection. Something we’ve not had for many many months, if not longer.
  4. Don’t forget the other scapegoat Rupp, who was very good tonight as well.
  5. We weren’t good but we did win. I’ll reserve judgement on whether this is turning point or not, until after the next few matches. Although it does feel rather nice to win in such circumstances!
  6. Whether you think he should be in team or not, I’m struggling to see how Mount can be described as a fraud, who is he defrauding?
  7. Montenegro are ranked 63rd in the world so they’re a big improvement on Cyprus. Similar level to Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Greece and Bulgaria. Not a great deal lower than Scotland!
  8. Drmic is on £25k pw, he’s the highest earner.
  9. I’m not sure why we would alienate these players. Farke did the same with Nelson at a time when we were really struggling to score. It just seems odd. We’re paying their wages so keep them involved until they can move on. We may need them, although I expect Farke would never admit that. Unless they are causing problems, I don’t see what this achieves. However, I know for a fact that Nelson was actually well liked by the other players so the reason for him being banished was not that.
  10. Parts of the season were over 2 years ago now though. May 2019 was when we won the title, the whole season wasn’t played in a month. Yes but your original point was suggesting that I was out of my mind saying that I would pick Hanley over Zimbo, on the basis that the latter was more influential in our title winning season. Gibson wasn’t mentioned by you. I agree Zimbo was decent that season and I think he’s a great bloke but we still conceded a huge amount of goals. If Hanley has played more often, perhaps we’d have conceded less. On the basis that the rest of our defence from that season are being picked off one by one by superior clubs, that could suggest that Zimbo was perhaps the weakest link? Its all about opinions and that’s fair enough but your argument seems to be very fluid.
  11. Does anyone know where Winks is? Not in the match day squad. I’m not saying he’s a world beater but at least he moves the ball forward at more than a pedestrian pace. I really don’t get what Rice offers and certainly not if you’ve already got Henderson in there. Rice is a younger English version of Fozzy!
  12. How can people be saying to play Dean Henderson? He’s started one match so far this season and that was a cup game. On what grounds should he be playing for England? I do worry that Southgate thinks it’s a good idea to play a RB at CB and a RB at LB though. Not only does it hinder our play but what message does that send to other players who’s natural positions are CB and LB?
  13. I think the biggest issue with the team is that we have 3 RBs, 2 CBs, 2 DMs and no LBs. That’s an incredibly defensive unbalanced team.
  14. Wes came back from the point of no return twice throughout his time with us. He’s a legend. Give the lad a break. If he stays and performs next week at Rotherham, I’m sure all this nonsense will be forgotten. The fickle nature of football fans!
  15. In a word ‘yes’ TVB. Everyone seems fixated on what happened two years ago. On the basis of your argument, let’s ignore the present and bring back Fleming and Mackay as they’re championship winning CB’s. Last season our defensive record improved massively when Hanley came back into the team and he looked very decent when he played. Zimbo meanwhile has been pretty poor so far this season and actually is far less mobile than Hanley so what does he have, the turning circle of a whale?
  16. Are we looking for a first choice CB though? Gibson was brought in to replace Godfrey and Hanley is certainly more than capable at this level. Zimbo would be very good back-up, again for this level. This is the quandary. If we’re looking for additional back-up, it’s either going to have to be someone towards the end of their career or someone towards the start. But very few PL clubs will let decent youngsters leave to sit on someone else’s bench. So maybe it will have to a be Ryan Bennett type who would be happy to come and fight for their place but without a guarantee of first team football. Or we sign a rough diamond from another EFL club.
  17. The first line got me, which two seasons has he done very well? I can only recall one.
  18. Is this all getting a bit out of hand? What has he actually done? He was one of our better players in the run in last season when others had downed tools. Yes he likes the attention but so would many other people in the same situation. Just off the top of my head, Maguire, Walker, Barkley, Sancho, Greenwood, Foden, Grealish, Maddison Chilwell and Abraham have all done more stupid things over the last few months than Cantwell. Going back a little bit further, Rashford and Lingard. How are the supporters of these clubs reacting? I’m sure they’re not saying just get rid! There’s literally hundreds of players who have done more stupid things (I’m not talking really serious/illegal stuff here). Good job he’s not necking half dozen pints before a match, gambling his earnings away to fund a drug habit or sleeping with elderly prostitutes!
  19. Regards the free kick, he had no choice but to take the guy out but my only thoughts would be, why didn’t he take him out earlier in a less dangerous position. Gibson had gone walkabout upfield, Zimbo and Quintilla aren’t the quickest so just wipe the guy out before he gets anywhere near our box. As a team, we never ever seem to commit cynical/clever fouls.
  20. I’m guessing Russell Martin is next in line....
  21. You can refer back to what you want, it has no relevance to the current situation. How long do we wait for the fabled turnaround? Presumably it starts next match after the international break, as per last time. I know that I’m fed up watching us lose and barely trouble the opposition keeper. Just saying.
  22. It was nothing like the Stoke game. We cheered the players off the park after that match as they gave everything and played well. We were not unlucky today, we were powder puff in attack, showed no urgency and were average at best, against a poor Derby team.
  23. All managers have a shelf life and few survive longer than 2/3 seasons anymore, simply because players need revitalising periodically. Our players our playing nowhere near their peak and in order for Farkeball to work, they need to be. They don’t look sharp, the passing is off and most importantly, they don’t look confident. Pukki being the most obvious example of this. It’s just my opinion but I just cannot see this changing. With every defeat and quality player leaving, the situation simply worsens. The rot has set in and set in deep. It’s not working now so how bad is Farkeball going to be without Buendia and Aaron’s?
  24. It’s one win in sixteen, can someone please tell me another manager that has survived a run like that?
