  1. Worthy Nigelton, do you, or have you ever played football? I doubt it by your post. OK I appreciate that we all have different opinions about many things including who is good and not so good at footy. But to call a player like Hendo crap is moronic really isn''t it? You seem to imply that if he goes on to play for another Premiership team is is not crap and if he drops down a division he is crap, that''s a very simplistic way of judging players isn''t it? I guess that means there are many crap players in the Championship (like all of them!). My point is that he may not be you favourite player but he is not crap, he may even be average in your opinion, but crap, that pretty much implies he can barely kick the ball. I presume you have a job Worthy Nigelton? if so are you the dogs boll*cks at work or just mediocre? do you have off days? if so I guess you must be crap also! maybe use more constructive language next time. By the way, I play a bit of footy, now I am close to being crap, I don''t feel too bad about that any more cos it means on a par with Hendo!!!
  2. I didn''t know Wynn was a popular Chinese name! That''s a terrible joke, It would have been more accurate to say Half Chinese half Welsh I think.
  3. I have to admit that I have mixed feelings about the minutes silence at football matches, I guess it is OK when a footballer dies, or there has been a football related tragedy, something that unites football fans, other than that i think it is futile. Don''t get me wrong, i would still respect the silence and think the people who didn''t on Saturday are scum, but who decides who gets a minutes silence and who doesn''t? For every high profile case like the one at the weekend there thousands of other people dying, what''s the difference? OK so they may not be such high profile but that means nothing. It''s like the whole riduculous media driven thing when Lady Di died, that was so over the top it was amazing. No disrespect but I didn''t really care, in fact I think a fair few people felt the same way but felt obliged to pretend they cared because of the massive over the top media campaign. In fact I was cheesed off because for days it messed up the tv and sport schedule! it was on pretty much all channels all day, why? sorry I''m getting off the point a bit. I''m not being heartless, but some poor kid born with disabilities that struggles through life until they eventually pass away would be more worthy of a minutes silence than an over privileged royal member who lived and died like some sort of film star, or someone choosing to work in an unstable country but getting payed well and knowing the risks. I suppose the point I am trying to make is that we should not have random minutes silences for people unrelated to football.
  4. well said Mello Yello, I wanted to voice my disgust about the so called minutes silence but I think you had put very well. I was disapointed that the comentators didn''t highlight what disrespectful vermin were present in the crowd after this incident but then again I guess that would give them more publicity and enable them to feel even more proud of themselves. I really hope they were ejected, I would certainly have no bother in grassing them up to the stewards / police, there is no place in football for this filth. The anthem booing is moronic too but we must realise it is only carried out by a minority of the crowd and that most footy fans are good humoured and know where to draw the line.
  5. I think it is fairly moronic to start complaining about the future after only 4 games. Many people have added their more positive views about the situation and I think until we have reason to worry we should be relatively optamistic and hopefull. Running a football club involves many decisions that we don''t that we don''t know about, some of us think it is so simple. Well i think considering we have many new players, most of which are yet to settle, we should stick with the team we''ve got and support them for the immediate future. In a month of so I let''s re-evaluate the situation. As for the ground improvements, surely they are necessary or am i missing something, so the original title to the post seems futile rather than merely thought provoking. I understand the concerns but I think it''s too early to start on this track yet.
  6. Wizard, I think I speak on behalf of a fair few posters (loyal NCFC fans) on this board in saying "you are getting on our nerves", I suggest you take some prozac and wisen up like a true wizard would. Look at the bigger picture and stop whinging on about not signing a striker, that''s life, it''s not all doom and gloom. Am I right or what? I can expect a mixture of support and probably some abuse, but at the end of the day (great footballing Cliche that!) we should remain optamistic and upbeat. Keep the (blind) faith - Wizard.
  7. So what, he hit the bar at Man U, he spent the rest of the game passing to the opposition! don''t forget that. He scored a fortunate goal at newcastle also. He still has a lot to prove, lets take our blinkers off for a minute, OK so Arsene says he''s good, let''s not belive too much yet. Good luck to him but he isn''t the the Norwich City saviour yet! I still think he should be refering to Norwich as "we" and not Arsenal, minor point possibly, but still seems obvious to me since NCFC are his current employer.
  8. I think Bentley still has a lot to prove, in a way I think we played better against Arsenal than if Bentley would have been in the line-up. Has had a couple of good shots and seems keen to run with the ball but he is a little light weight and his passing is far from consistent at the moment. I think Huckerby looks better on the left wing than Bentley also. I hope he doesn''t get automatic starts all the time, you need to earn your place in the squad. I think we played very well in the second half against Arsenal, and that was with 3 central midfielders, maybe that''s the way we need to play in some games, more guts in the middle of the park, and Bentley doesn''t provide that. Don''t miss quote me, he could be a great catch for the year but he isn''t the solution to all our problems. As for interview, I can understand his tricky predicament but saying "we" whilst referring to Arsenal was foolish and a little more diplomacy will be required next time. He is on loan at Norwich City FC and his commitment for 1 year should be with us, or as he would say "them" !
  9. Are there any other supermarkets in Norwich, or do the stars only get their weekly shopping in ASDA? They are always spotted by estate agents, taxi drivers or in Macdonalds or ASDA (although I saw Mulryne in Little Chef!). Whats wrong with Tescos or Sainsbury''s? I thought these were a better class of supermarket than ASDA and therefore the more likely places to see potential signings?
  10. Rich Most of these points are futile, you can use your reverse argument in many cases, i.e. Lineker played for England, does that means he was good or bad since so did Geoff Thomas! pointless argument. Doherty is still playing for Ireland and has more caps than Geoff Thomas / ricketts, yes? I would imagine there is a link between playing for your country and being any good, generally speaking that is, and not refering to the rare exceptions. As for Dean Richards, maybe he wants to stay in the capital for personal reasons, as is often the case. And, financially the deal may be worth more to Dean Richards since it is clearly not a straight cash deal, they are part exchanging him for a well respected talent. So, maybe if Norwich had Carrick to swap we may have got Dean Richards? but we don''t, so we haven''t, therefore we keep trying other options, some of which may have included the other players you seem to think would want to come to Norwich. I don''t advocate setting our sights too low but we must have realistic expectations. As for you disrespecting any player with premiership experience is mindless, yes I could probably name a few less than impressive Prem players but that would be pointless. I actually think Petite would be a bad signing, too old and lazy, my opinion mind! Anyway I have things to do and a life to lead so maybe I''ll leave it there and look forward to the next futile batch of critisisms of our new signing, personally I wish him all the best and have heard good things about him too, lets dwell on them for the time being? Anyone got Figo''s tel no.?
  11. to answer your question "at least one person tell me what doherty offers that we dont already have." More versatility. More experience. And, I would imagine, more attributes that we are yet to see (given a chance). Most Premier league teams have good squad players, sounds like a sensible option to me.
  12. Rich, Do you not think we are trying to temp quality palyers to Carrow Road? Imagine for how many players we sign how many we have been in talks with? there is always going to be stiff competion for good players and financially we have a lot less to offer than other clubs, that''s a fact. So maybe the best we can expect is to sign players from lower leagues, abroad or ones that have fallen down the pecking order at Prem clubs. Obviously we can hope for more, but our expectations should be realistic also. Good luck to Doherty. Now who was it that saw Henry and Zidane in the Swafham branch of B & Q ?
  13. To reiterate what many people are saying, give the guy a chance, i''m ashamed to be a Norwich fan when i see some of the abuse written already and he hasn''t even kicked a ball. I thought our fans were better than that. As for the guy saying we should have got Dean Richards, as it ever crossed your mind that he was either too expensive or wouldn''t want to take a step down and come to an un-proven premiership club like Norwich. We should be a little more realistic and fair. For all you so called Norwich fans that think we are as bigger draw as Man U , Arsenal etc. your supporting the wrong club! our options are more limited, let''s suppost the manager whatever and hope he''s made another shrewd signing. I know one thing for sure, if fans get on the backs of new signings it''s not going to help them settle. Be patient and stop thinking we are too good for some proven premiership players. When are we bidding for Zidane?
  14. I vote for the captain, I saw him watching a game from the stand once, it looked rather sureal!
  15. LCFC, ever tried posting on you own teams site? I can understand you maybe wanting to post at a more high brow forum but you really should stick to your own club! have you eaten that humble pie yet? I guess it doesn''t taste too good?
  16. nice reply Dom Jay, takes care of our friend from the East Midlands, now maybe he will remove his "rose tinted" specs. As for connolly, 14 goals last season isn''t that good and at the end of the season he looked like utter dross, he is a tempramental chap too, so good luck! I know we shouldn''t give him too much time but I do feel the urge to remind him of something he seems to have forgotten........................................................................................ WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE, DIV 1 CHAMPIONS (BY MILES!) and you are? relegated from the premier league (it wasn''t even close!) and about to realise how hard it is to get out of Div 1 (sorry, i mean the championship) - take a reality check fella, climb down off you rather high horse and eat a big slice of humble pie (or a packet of cheese n onion stollen from a small boy!).
  17. This guy sounds like he is suffering from a touch of the old "sour grapes", I think the best cure for this is a long and humbling stay in Div 1 (or whatever it has been re-named to make it sound better). I live in Loughborough and to be honest most Leicester fans are bit more respectful and open minded, maybe this one will remove his blinkers later in the season? I have to agree with some of the posters regarding the awful and pathetic atmosphere at the "cheese n onion Bowl" a couple of years back after LCFC got promotion. Well said Amarillo, most of my points already well put!
  18. I''m a Senior Synthetic Organic Chemist, just in case anybody needs some novel compounds or drug analogues synthesising - i''m your man! at last I can chat to work colleagues about footy since they all support Premiership teams, although a Leeds fan has just joined the company - that''s funny (he still talks like they are premierleague and has no respect for NCFC).
  19. I can''t really be bothered to read the entire thread but I think i get the gist of it, have you mentioned which part of the USA you are currently residing in? I reckon I could come up with a few patronising and un-funny comments about it too! And for the record I don''t live in Norwich (or even near it) and I have lived for a few years in the USA. Maybe you could spend you time more wisely on a local baseball web forum? or even better, football (not soccer or course!), you know the game, poor mans rugby, the game that lasts about 10 minutes but goes on for hours! Also I think any comment joking about people walking is rich coming from a USA resident (I pressume). I don''t think many Yanks know what the process of walking is for, well apart from getting to and from the car of course! (or the Burger bar) Right i''m off back to work, and later on I might look for that coach you refer to, does it go via Loughborough? For any genuine Yanks reading this (I doubt there is any though), I like the Yanks, but just like the Brits, they ain''t perfect!
  20. That''s a valid point, maybe it''s because the football pundits and media are failing to acknowledge how well Norwich have actually done. Let''s face it, Div 1 was probably no better or worse than it was during the previous few seasons. A while back I would have said it was because the top teams weren''t running away with it like in previosu seasons, but this is not really true since we finished with 94 points, and that''s a good total and 15 points clear of 3rd place is a big margin in my mind!
  21. I think I suffer this too! you lot have short memories, he was very instrumental in our good start to the season, remember? scoring goals and all that sort of stuff! well he has had fitness problems and hasn''t been given a significant run in the team since then. People seem to think thats following injury you come back as a player and go out on Saturday full of confidence and play 100%, well this isn''t so, it takes time and with all the adverse comments it must hit a players confidence. I think they guy has talent, however it also seems like many football fans like to have some targets at their club they can mock and jeer however they play. It wasn''t long ago a substantial amount of fans were chanting for Iwan when Svennson was on the ball, a few goals later and it doesn''t happen so much. I think Easton got similar treatment. Players have off games, or indeed bad spells, why don''t we give them more support. Any of you lot play footy?
  22. I would also like to wish Clint all the best in his career and I hope he can take a positive step by moving on from Norwich. I think he has had some undeserved treatment from the fans and I hope he goes to prove a few fans wrong. Good luck Clint.
  23. I lived in Florida for 2 years and went to see the Florida Gators play American football, the sun was shinning, the stadium was full (90,000) and the game lasted about 4 hours. To be honest it was a great atmosphere but 60 mins of dull actions dragged out to last 4 hours is not my idea of fun! give me Norwich away to the likes of Grimsby or Rotherham any day! I saw the college league Baskeball, that was well worth watching. I saw baseball but that isn''t worth mentioning! I used to watch the RAC rally years ago when it went on through the night, this was really exciting as a young lad, you could get very close to the cars after trapesing for miles though the forest, it was always wet and freezing too. I was lucky enough to see some of the Monte Carlos Rally this year, it was just a coincidence that I went to Monacco for that weekend. I''d love to watch the F1 GrandPrix there too. I saw the Nottingham Panthers play a year or so ago, I could watch that more regularly, very fast and lots of action and fighting. But to be honest nothing beats the old footy.
  24. I must admit this has annoyed me a little too. I am aware that I must be careful what I say for legal reasons but considering the severity of the allegations (and I''m sure you all have views on these), I am amazed he is allowed to carry on playing football. It must awful for the family members to see his grinning face after scoring goals. This seems tasteless to me. Yes I know he is awaiting the court case, and this highlights how messed up our legal system is, but the allegations are so serious that he should not be carrying on a normal sports start life style. I can think of many walks of life where this would not be deemed acceptible, so what are the excpetions in this case?
