  1. FOM allows people to live in, and look for work (therefore, the jobless), in their chosen country. However, FOM also requires those people to be able to support themselves. I know this; I did it. I had to submit paperwork in advance, including bank statements, then register with authorities upon arrival. No option of state benefits. With relatively low levels of unemployment, undercutting isn't going to be a huge problem. A bigger problem in the UK (and maybe elsewhere?), in my opinion, is some "employers" using gig economy "contractors" at cheap rates with no safeguards or rights....but I guess that's for another discussion
  2. Munich 93 I had "retired" from attending football by then, but felt I was owed a trip to Europe after what happened in the 80's. Some mates hired a van and left Norfolk on Sunday evening, picking me and another mate up in Brentwood. No seats in the back, we just sat around a big pile of beer cans in the middle We got an early morning ferry to Calais, arriving around an hour before the supermarket opened, so we had a game of football in the car park before buying more beer. I recall having to get on the roof of the store to retrieve the ball at one point. We weren't long out of Calais before getting an inevitable tug from French police. One of our number seemed to speak some passable French, and explained we were headed for Germany. This pleased the coppers no end and we were on our way Unfortunately, our bladders were not all in sync, so we stopped at virtually every service station on the way, for various people to relieve themselves in the holes in the ground that appeared to be toilets. Upon reaching the border, it turned out that the German police were a little less pleased than their French counterparts to see us. Around an hour and a half to get through after a thorough search of the van and accusations of possession of drugs. By the time we got to Munich it was night and the camp site we had been hoping to stay at was shut, so we had to sit in our van until the morning Once there, we were delighted to find the campsite had a vending machine that dispensed lager, so we took advantage of that before getting some rest and heading out later in the day for the match, of which many of you will need no reminder For some reason, I don't recall much about the trip home....
  3. That sounds a lot like the FOM process It's a good idea, but I'm not sure if the UK has the administrational system to implement it properly 😔
  4. Argentina 😲 They've only gone and voted in Harry Enfield!
  5. I've seen a few articles Like this in recent days, so it is entirely possible that it was the lights
  6. What have we told you before about eating the 'shrooms on Mulbarton common? 😊
  7. It's not looking good 😔 Predictions are that this could be worse than the Westman Islands eruption of 1973. At least everyone is out of town and safe
  8. Thanks. I live in Reykjavík so I'm ok Sadly, the situation has got much worse for the people of Grindavik. The magma is believed to have moved right underneath the town and everyone has been evacuated overnight 😔 Grindavík evacuated Only time will tell how this ends
  9. Blue Lagoon was closed yesterday morning. A M5.2 quake frightened the tourists and staff, so the management decided to take a 7 day break. I was in Grindavík for lunch today and we had a M4.2 quake that shook the restaurant around a bit. It's gone downhill since around 16.00 this afternoon. Loads of quakes over M3. The road to Grindavík, that I have been driving on every work day this year, including earlier today, is now closed as it is broken 😲
  10. There was one game, at least, where we got the middle pen back in the late 80's Probably people turning up to get vouchers for a semi final or something Bloody awful in there
  11. Stamford Bridge in the 1980's. Specifically 1985 when it absolutely píssed it down in a "post season" game. Which we won. Taking ages to drive through London. Everyone trying to take cover under the scoreboard, which was the only cover available, whilst watching the ball literally float down the flooded right wing. The delight in thinking we had endured this to watch us save our skins from relegation evaporated over the next couple of weeks as Coventry strung 3 wins together in the "post-post season"😡
  12. Jæja Another eruption is looking possible and this time Mother Nature is threatening not to play nicely At risk is the town of Grindavik (where I've been working for the last year, nearly finished now), Svartsengi power station and The Blue Lagoon All the previous eruptions have been in the middle of nowhere, where they haven't caused any harm. Contingency and emergency plans are in place. Hopefully, nothing will happen, but when this part of the world starts to shake it can last for decades. Sooner or later, something important will get trashed
  13. Does anyone else eat the stems of regular broccoli? If you peel off the skin, they steam, boil or roast a treat 😋
  14. At least the world cup only lasts a few weeks. The football season is 9 months! England 54-5, can we make it 3 figures?
  15. there´s already been one Islamic Party of Britain Are there plans for a new one? I´ve only seen a rumour in the Daily Express so far
  16. 🎵 My baby got the yippsMy baby got the yippsShe goes out in 32But comes home in 54Well I told her to see the club proBut she said n,n,n,n,n,n,noHave you tried the overlap grips?Yeah, still she got the yipps 🎶
  17. Øxn 🙂 If you press and hold on a vowel, all the different options should come up
  18. Probably the only exciting finish in the tournament so far This world cup has been a bit dull, apart from a couple of upsets. At just after the midway point of the group stage, NZ SA & India look nailed on for the semi finals, probably accompanied by Australia
  19. These 2 posts contradict each other. The paragraph quoted by Kim Dotcom refers to an emergency situation, but if covid had been brought in for the vaccine, there would have been no emergency...big pharma would have had it ready to roll
  20. I've always liked the idea of getting in Emery along with Kinnear 🙂
  21. Good to see the women's strike getting some international coverage The prime minister joining in has added some interest, I would think I'm not sure it is worth a Guardian live blog , but all attention is welcome 🙂
  22. Deciding to bowl first didn´t help, either
  23. And there was me posting about Pakistani car crashes...😳 I listened to the commentary on Guerilla cricket, I haven't heard the "F" word used so often since the last time I played Crass's "Feeding of the 5000"
