Step forward The Horse

Out of form, much maligned and little used. The stage is set for Holt to show his resilience once again and step up to the mark. Off the bench at half time and two goals to rescue a 2-1 win.

"Out of form"  -  hasn''t had enough service to be "in form""Much maligned"  -  by those with no marbles"Little used"     -   Doesn''t need using, he works his socks off for the whole match.   "Resilience"  -  Never in doubt"Off the bench"  -   Should start, Swansea don''t like him"Rescue"    -      No rescue needed if he starts the match"2-1"   -    I''d settle for that.  [:)]

I have already made a bet with Marcus Evans equal to the amount of the Ipswich Town debt that Holt will be in the starting line-up tomorrow.

Surely any debt is internal and belongs to Mucus not the club Purple ? [;)]

A real horse from the Grand National tomorrow would probably do better...

He has to start tomorrow and we have to get give him the ball where he can do some damage. I hope the Swansea fans have been winding him up all week on twitter, like they used to do,

I think that there is not much to choose between Holt and Kei, except in pace, but I think that Becchio is probably a better converter of chances than either (- or he used to be in the Championship!)

In a sense, the problem at Wigan was not that we failed to take our chances, - there weren''t any, I exaggerate but only slightly. The problem is one of delivery now, although perhaps earlier in the season it was of conversion of chances. I used to think that playing two strikers would increase our scoring, but currently I am not sure.

We need Wes at his best, and we need someone to replace Pilks in this game - step forward Kei?, and Snoddy and Johnson, with Garrido and Martin/Whittaker, all need to put in some accurate crosses.(As I pointed out in another posting, EPL statistics show that our defenders have also  scored more goals proportionately than those of every other Premiership club. This is mainly for set pieces, but remember Whittaker?)

I can''t agree that Becchio is a better converter of chances than Holt.  Look at their respective stats from League 1 and The Championship.

I don''t know if it just going to take him a while to find his feet in the Prem or if he just won''t be good enough, but Becchio looked way off the pace and way off being a Prem striker to me.

IMHO there is too much at stake now to be experimenting with Becchio.  Once we are safe by all means, or if we are comfortably winning a game, bring him on as a sub, but otherwise, no thanks.

I can''t think of a single reason why Becchio warrants getting in ahead of Kei or Holty at this stage?

Of course I want Becchio to do well, but it''s just too much of a gamble trying him now, when the likes of Holt, Kamara, and Hoolahan are all fit.

"Becchio better converter of chances than Holt"

agree Norfolk, that has to be one of the most ridiculous claims I have ever heard. I''ve never seen Becchio score a goal in the Prem have you?

He has not adapted to the pace of the Prem and now is not the time for him to learn.

Not adapted to the pace of the prem? That''s equally as stupid, Wiz. He has had almost a full game at which point he came close to scoring just as often as Holt has this season, if not more.

I better just clear up what I meant, because it''s not very clear.
What I mean to say is, Holt has wasted a lot of opportunities recently - Becchio in the Fulham game came close to scoring on a couple of occasions. So in recent games, Becchio is near enough on the same form.

For me Becchio was brought in as a bit of a low-risk gamble.

We swapped an out-of-sorts lower-Premiership target man for an in-form higher-Championship target man in the hopes he''d add a few goals, which at this point he has not.

Either way, if I had to put my faith in one of them to score today it''s still Holt. He''s a game changer.

Off the pace, lightweight and easily pushed off the ball, slow to turn!
