Nuff Said 5,973 Posted November 19, 2012 The "bs" is that despite the situation being discussed frequently on here, you (granted you''re not the only fantastist by a long way) STILL have your head in the sand over our financial situation. Have a read of this thread, in particular this from shefcanary:Although one initially would think we were competely out of the financial mire now, the repayment of the Axa loan notes in May 2013 will mean the club run out of cash (albeit for a short time until cashflow from 2013-14 season starts to kick in) - the club estimate they will need to find £2 million if we remain in the PL, considerably more if we get relegated. So perhaps before asking who we should be buying for £10 million, perhaps you can suggest where we can borrow an additional £10 milliom, PLUS wages, from? Wonga perhaps?

shefcanary 2,956 Posted November 19, 2012 Can I just clarify something here. The cash flow projection discussed in the accounts where cash runs out in May will include some assumptions for January transfer dealings. Now I haven''t seen the forecasts at all, but given they would have been produced on a prudent basis (that is, we would be struggling to stay up) then an assumption of splashing out on a Dean Ashton type transfer (except in 2013 prices) I am sure would have been planned in. However saying how much this might be is difficult but could stretch to £10million if it was assumed that some sales would also occur. McNasty though has said we are not a selling club and that is why he is happy to project that the cash runs out and the club needs to borrow £2million to repay AXA. This means we really should only consider the budget for transfers in as being the gross amount. The only other bit of information publicly made available by the club is that the playing budget is the biggest the club has ever had. Although we can just about have a ballpark figure of what was spent last year, who knows if this was anywhere near what the budget was. However as Nuff Said rightly says the player budget will take account of salary increases of existing squad, so any outlay has to account for salary of the incoming player. I think £10m is not a bad shout for Hughton''s budget going into January, just that much of that will be taken up by salary costs. As others have said a good overseas littl''un or a young lower league striker is probably the most likely scenario on that basis, rather than an overblown, over-hyped and expensive Premier League english striker. Sorry but it will be some time before we see ourselves on that stage. [Which contradicts my rant in the Archant front page thread when I said we were bigger than what Archant were making out, but all things are relative, and if Wiz can do it........[;)]
Mungo Bumpkin 0 Posted November 19, 2012 Also, the 2013/4 season ticket income from those paying on monthly direct debit (which is a fair proportion of the total) starts to arrive in the clubs coffers in April 2013 which should avert embarrassing phone calls to wonga.com. priceyrice 133 Posted November 19, 2012 I imagine a quarter of the initial budget is left- purely guess work- that would put the figure at around 6-7M
mre2 5 Posted November 19, 2012 If you are paying tens of millions on players you are just not getting value for money, and without champions league football or a billionaire sugar daddy you can''t afford it. Plus 10 million only gets you a fairly average Premiership forward. I guess there is the option of going after Austin or Zaha, but it''s a lot of money to gamble on an unproven young player that might not pay off.

AJ 1,359 Posted November 19, 2012 If we had that much to splash out, I''d go for Long, or Hooper
mrs miggins 0 Posted November 19, 2012 I would get a loan for Guidetti for the rest of the season with a set price to buy him for the following season as it will be more than we can afford at this moment.
