I know Ashley Cole is a top class player but I really think Leighton Baines is the best left back in the country on current form. He is absolutely unstoppable at times and really pins the opposition winger back into his own half.

I know it''s Movember but I think Leyton Baines looked fantastically ''70s. I almost got nostalgic about how footy was back then and half-expected to see the club car park full of Mk3 Cortinas!

Top effort and for a worthy cause.

I''m not sporting a ''tash this year but am sponsoring those at work who are.

From brief highlights on MOTD it looked as if Baines given too much room to operate Snoddy seemingly not tracking back enough, Elliott Bennet may hae been better option in this role.  Was this an illusion or did we give too much room?

I thought the same.   Maybe we improved in the second half because this was addressed at half time.  Baines plays like that every match, from what I''ve seen - terrific player.

Spot on for me; everything that threatened us came down our right where snodgrass was off the pace and whittaker was not at his best and baines made the most of it.

Baines is a throw back in all respects - a truly talented committed left back who defends well and attacks better, his run and shot in the second half showed holt what he was meaning to do in the first half - which was the defender??

In the first half Baines looked good but I did think this was mainly due to Snoddy failing to pick him up.  Disappointing that Snoddy did very little going forward or defending.  On yesterday''s performance it is hard to see how he''s keeping Elliott B out of the team.

Second half it was harder to see over the other side of the pitch but Everton were mainly sitting back so if Baines posed less of a threat this could have just been becase they were pushing forward less.

I like young Snoddy but would like to see Elliot given another little run in the team, I think he will do well coming into a team that is on a good run, all players need to be confident but I think he particularly needs to feel he is on the top of his game and doing well, this is so much easier when you come into a side on a good run. Sitting on the bench is not going to help his confidence. One of my most enjoyable days out last season was a little trip down to White Hart Lane and seeing the lovely boy smash the back of the net right in front of me, it made me go all wobbly, he went on to play so well after that. I think Mr Hughton should give him a little lift and a start on Wednesday night, however he is the manager and I am just a silly old woman!

MOTD highlights showed Snoddy & Wes standing 10 yards off Baines at times with no attempt whatsoever to close the space he loves to romp into. We rode our luck by doing that. Mind you, which team had the higher energy levels in the last 15 mins? Maybe that''s why we nicked the leveller!

Interesting to note, maybe, is that the two you mentioned that seemed to be standing off - Snodgrass and Hoolahan - were the ones subbed - and then we scored.................

Snoddy did seem to struggle yesterday but Baines is a top player. We did get a better view in the first half though. Would support EB being given a run. Wes had less of an impact yesterday than recently. His creative ability will be needed over the next four games - would hope for 6 points.

Snodgrass did not have a good game defensively; baines is a left back so directly his responsibility and repeatedly (not just the few examples shown on MOTD) he was found wanting in giving whittaker the cover he needed - he was again absent when baines drew the save from ruddy in the second half.

Wes, like the whole team, was sluggish in the first half highlighted in being slow to close down hitzelburger in the build up to the goal (as was BJ in covering Naismiths run when asked by I think Bassong), but covering for baines was not his brief.

As far as the goal being contributed to by either the removal of Snod or Wes or the introduction of Moro or Jackson is a million miles from the truth, with our revival more down to the half time team talk and the whole team putting in a 45 min shift making the difference

I was sat in amongst the Everton fans in the main stand, opposite the City faithful - Baines is simply a class act, nothing more to say.  Better players than Snoddy will struggle to deal with him all season.  That and the performance from Oviedo down the left meant that Whittaker & Snoddy had a tough afternoon.

I noticed a slight tactical switch following half time - Tettey seemed to be given a bit more freedom and licence to move forward, while BJ sat a lot deeper - for me, this was the biggest single reason that we dominated the second half.  I did think Moro gave us a little extra when he came on - I can imagine Heitinga & Distin giving a collective groan at the thought of facing him & Holt together - as rightly described on the radio after the game, Holt bullied the Everton central defenders all afternoon.
