Dean Ashton close to stoke deal....

Recommended Posts

If he goes then we have a 15pc sell on clause according to Football Manager 2009, as well as being reported at the time.

According to the daily telegraph in june West Ham are likely to demand a 10m fee for Ashton, giving us a possible 1.5m transfer kitty bonus!

According the the daily mail on the 28th july...."West Ham have not been impressed with Ashton''s physical condition as he struggles to get himself back on track for the new season.

Manager Gianfranco Zola has made up his mind he is surplus to requirements and, as revealed in Sportsmail, Stoke are ready to back up their initial interest with a firm offer.

Originally the two parties were miles apart on wages but Ashton realises he does not have many options and a meeting this week will help determine his fate though a departure is inevitable."

As well as this, according to Darren Lewis of the Daily Mirror West Ham are lining up replacements such as Luca Toni and Eidur Gudjohnsen.

Tony Pullis has said this...You are always taking a risk, you are always taking a chance with people who have had injuries.

"But we took Ricardo Fuller and nobody would touch Rick. We paid Southampton a nominal fee for him.

"He''s come to the club and I don''t think he has missed a day''s training. The only time he has missed game has been through suspension! Not injuries.

"So now and then you have to take a chance. And if they''ve got the quality that you can''t get anywhere else then even more so."

I doubt Stoke would, or could pay anything other than a ''nominal fee''.

Definitely won''t be 10 mill! But anything is a bonus.

Its 15% of profit, and we received 7 million for him. In the extremely unlikely event he goes for 10 million (should be 5-6) then we would net 450k. I can''t think he would go for more than 7 million. We''ll get nothing.

pffft id rather rely on that than wikipedia like the rest of you......i suppose you know much much more than me and have a ''friend'' that supplies you with endless amounts of information about the club from an ''inside source'' and you have all of your football coaching badges, that means you MUST know more than me about football

I can''t believe that any club are rich enough or stupid enough to pay the fee quoted in earlier posts for a player who has been crocked for two of the last three seasons and looks huge compared to his short stay at Norwich.

Surely any fee would be loaded on appearances and goals?

row, let me quote you this

"On the evening of 21st January 2006, Norwich finally agreed terms with West Ham that made Ashton City''s record sale as he departed to Upton Park for a fee of £7million which could rise by £250,000 based on whether Dean is capped by England (£125,000) or whether West Ham make it into Europe with him in their squad (£125,000). There is also a 15% sell off clause of any profit that West Ham might make from any future sale. Crewe received £1.5million as part of the deal that took Ashton to Carrow Road."

15% of PROFIT made by west ham, now please stop picking fights with anyone and everyone who insults your precious football manager

joking aside, is there a FM09 thread about on these boards anywhere ?Would be good to swap players , tactics with other Norwich fans or talk FM. I have 2 saves, 1 (obviously) as Norwich, and my other ( dare I say favourite game ) as Blyth Spartans. I plan to dominate Europe from the bottom with Blyth :-p
