donnievic 0 Posted October 22, 2008 Looking forward coming down on Saturday by train and would be grateful of some decent pubs to try.As for the game it will no doubt be hard for us after your great win last night. We pass it around well but struggle to create many chances. But at least over the last 2 games we have looked more solid at the back. Syteanric 1 Posted October 22, 2008 the complete Angler is accross the road from the station... they should be welcoming!as Lincoln canary says go to riverside, theres a bar called "Queen of the iceni" half way down opposite the cinema.. away fans welcome and the grub isnt bad.... I reccomend the Chicken Tikka Masala!jas :)
donnievic 0 Posted October 22, 2008 Took about 350 to Reading last night,so would of thought about 500-
WeAreYellows49 0 Posted October 22, 2008 Like Lincoln said there are lots of nice bars down by riverside, not too far from the ground that you will get lost. Lloyds is ok and you get fans from home and away fans in there, good atmosphere and drink is reasonable, also you can get eats there too.Safe journey. Hooleyfan 0 Posted October 22, 2008 Donnievic - the Compleat Angler by Norwich Railway Station is a common haunt for visiting fans, but you will find that the Wetherspoons pub Queen of Iceni, in the riverside development closer to the ground has a mix of both home and away supporters. WeAreYellows49 0 Posted October 22, 2008 I meant will not get lost, lol long day.
singingriverender 0 Posted October 22, 2008 Compleat Angler seems to be place for away fans, out of the train station and head straight ahead along the padestrian walkway, and pub is visible on the other side of road across bridge (on other side of traffic light crossroads).Coach and Horses is also a good place for away fans, just do a right turn out of train station and turn right again (u turn basically out of station exit) and its not far down the road on the left.Lloyds on riverside (left out of train station and over crossing, theres a gym on the corner) does serve away fans as long as colours are covered. Most Norwich fans are approachable and always friendly to away fans, so any problems, dont be afraid to ask us! And from the riverside area, there is always a big flow of yellow shirts heading to ground to just follow them!Hope this helps, and enjoy the game
norfolkbroadslim 225 Posted October 22, 2008 Donny! Donny! Donny!I hope and think we will beat you, but I have a soft spot for Donny. My dad used to watch them as a lad way back when.Hope you have a good time, and the good folk of Norwich appreciate a team who likes to pass the ball around.[Y][:)]
Lord Horn 0 Posted October 22, 2008 If you like real ale and good food, turn right out of the station - head up the hill and opposite Royal Mail is the Coach and Horses. Has its own micro-brewery on site and is excellent for pre-match. Enjoy your trip to Norwich (at least up until the game kicks off!).
Mister Chops 7 Posted October 22, 2008 The Rosary Tavern is an excellent pre and post-match pub, and I''ve even got you directions from Doncaster straight to its front door. I''ll even buy you a pint unless you beat us in which case I''ll get you some pork scratchings or mini cheddars.
Mister Chops 7 Posted October 22, 2008 Well, that was ineffective. The URL is here:http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?daddr=95+Rosary+Rd,+Norwich,+Norfolk,+NR1+4BX+(Rosary+Tavern)&geocode=CQHRdrYoYht_FU8JIwMdpv0TACHSIcuS3nI9RQ&dirflg=&saddr=doncaster&f=d&dq=rosary+tavern+norwich&sll=52.627791,1.310118&sspn=0.006295,0.006295&cid=52627791,1310118,4989270262467469778&ie=UTF8&z=
gazzathegreat 0 Posted October 22, 2008 To add to the directions for the Rosary, come out of train station, turn right and go up the hill (Thorpe Road) go past the large Royal Mail sorting office and cross road, there is another fine pub opposite you (Coach and Horses). It gets very crowded if you arrive there after say 1.30pm. If you just walk straight through that pub (we will allow you a pint or two first) then go out back door and turn left. You are now in Rosary Road - go along road until you see a multi storey office building on one side and some flats on the other, Rosary Tavern is just on the other side of road and there''s a small park opposite.Tim is a great landlord and will welcome you. Lots of Norwich stuff up on walls in pub; great selection of real ales and good food. You might bump into some of us in there.Have a safe journey and enjoy our fine city! 6088m canary 4 Posted October 23, 2008 or if you really really like your ales.....head past carrow road and up the hill at the back of the stadium,,.,,Rose Tavern is an adnams pub and if you head in the general direction of sainsburys....(ask for Hall ROad) you can find the Kings ARms......Loads of norwich in there, all friendly, independent ale house so all manner of ales and pilsners from all over the place....me uncle drinks in there and i used to until exiled.....slightly older crowd (40s i guess) but they certainly know their ales and they know their football.either way, norwich has just about the finest pubs in the country matey... Fuglestad 0 Posted October 23, 2008 Norwich does indeed have some very fine pubs. However I am astounded people are recommending this chap goes to a bloody Weatherspoons, possibly the most dull, characterless pubs known to man. Go to a proper pub. Coach and Horses, The Rosary, King''s Arms, The Trafford, The Rose, all of these are grand and will give you a taste of the fine city and it''s people.
