Paul Spector 0 Posted October 29, 2007 Why are the board trying to flog us a new shirt to celebrate having sold 20,000 season tickets for the last few years?!?! I have been a season ticket holder for many years, but think it''s shocking that they are asking us to pay £40 for another new shirt. Presumebly the funds raised are going into paying for the champagne at the board meetings! This is just another money making idea to rip off the fans who love the club and the annoying thing is that the 5000 shirts they have made WILL get sold and they know it but we wont see a penny of it spent on new players, just the same old lies about how we have no money. 0ridgemanddMMyyyy0Falseen-USTrue 0 Posted October 29, 2007 They are thinking of changing the wording from averaging 20,000 season tickets for the last three years to - 2007/8 the last time we sold 20,000 season tickets - could last for some time.
Pyro Pete 2,354 Posted October 29, 2007 I know, it''s incredible, isn''t it. What numpty at the club thought this was a good idea?Yes, to celebrate what Darren Huckerby calls our "worst team ever" we are asking all the loyal supporters who have already forked out £400+ to buy this wonderful limited edition "Relegation Season Commemorative Shirt". So in future years you can fondly look back on the season when the club went truly tits-up.
Baldyboy 1 Posted October 29, 2007 at the end of the season if we stay up they are going to bring out a celebration dvd with all the great games on too!!!
lappinitup 629 Posted October 29, 2007 It may get the message across if NO-ONE bought the bloody shirts !! [:@]
Dr. Ink 0 Posted October 29, 2007 I suspect a bit of Turner influence here. Creating revenue from off field activity. 5000 shirts at £35 = £175000, or one washed out fringe player from Forfar Athletic had Mr Grant been in charge. Why knock it? If you don''t want another shirt don''t buy it, it''s really that simple. Those who do purchase another shirt by choice, its only for the benefit of the club.Negativity everywhere! ......and Smith must score. 1,600 Posted October 29, 2007 To be fair if the Club is indeed in such dire financial straits as they claim then extracting a few more shillings from gullible City fans is to be expected. What I would take issue with is the appalling timing. With the Club at what seems like an all time low surely it would have been better to have postponed the launch until the new manager is installed ?On second thoughts perhaps the Board reckons their managerial announcement will mean that they then won''t be able to give''em away............... jetstream 0 Posted October 29, 2007 That''s £175,000 less the cost of making them and marketing them, don''t forget. This is what the Turners have been ''brought in'' to do - maximise revenue and profits by making as much money as possible from us fans. Expect more of the same. They might want to consider timing the marketing of such gimmicks a bit better though.

lucky green trainers 0 Posted October 29, 2007 the timing of it is quite staggering given our freefall to the bottom of the league. why not released before the start of the season??? makes more sense - or is this a quiet spell for shirt manufacturers and we got a huge discount???what a PR own goal!!! its like, ''don''t panic! business as usual''!!!3 weeks and no manager, and a friendly ''thankyou'' offer comes through to a loyal 20,000 other ''idiots'' costing them £40 quid. quite unbelievable. gazzathegreat 0 Posted October 29, 2007 The Turners have not been brought in to turn us into marketing gurus...they are monitoring Mr Doncaster (as told at the AGM). The marketing dept is headed by Andrew Cullen.....seems he and his team have escaped for now.
BCanary 0 Posted October 29, 2007 Surely if you don''t like the idea of the shirt you just won''t buy one?
