ShrewsCanary 0 Posted October 12, 2006 Am I the only one here that thinks Carl Robinson is a useful member of our squad... All I ever seem to read on here is how rubbish he is and should leave. He does a lot of unnoticed work just in front of the back four, plays it simple, and can pick a pass... Players like this do tend to get a lot of stick for misplaced passes, but if you watch the amount of ball he gets, very few go astrayAnyone any thoughts? lambert gonzales 0 Posted October 12, 2006 i think Robinson is a handy guy to have in the squad, it''s just people on here like to pick holes in the slightest thing a player of ours does wrong
Tom NCFC 0 Posted October 12, 2006 He''s ok but there are better! If Penney is appointed I''d like to see Sean Thornton come in, he can play Robinson role better than Robbo can

Canary Poirot 1 Posted October 12, 2006 Robinson is an average Championship player most of the time. I''ve seen him put in some good performances since he''s joined, but most of the time he''s either been average or below par. I think a sufficiently fired up Robinson could do a decent job - but he''s needs motivating and he needs to be consistently above average, as oppossed to consistently average which he arguably has been with us(assuming a long run average of his performances). Maybe he, along with a few others at the club at the moment could do well to be reminded what happens to pros when they don''t put the required effort or performances in - Philip Mulryne anyone? Unemployed professional footballer and not yet 30.
ShrewsCanary 0 Posted October 12, 2006 I disagree im afraid, i think his real work goes unnoticed, and people only notice when he loses possession..Just my opinion tho... its a hard role to play
Ulf Ottosson 0 Posted October 12, 2006 He''s a good player on his day and for 50,000 or 1/10 of what we paid for Andy Hughes he isn''t a bad three choice centre midfielder. Butgod he was awful against Burnley!
Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted October 12, 2006 Have you ever seen Robinson run with the ball?
Hardhouse44 289 Posted October 12, 2006 I believe he is one of the worst players to ever play for us.
Northern Canary 0 Posted October 12, 2006 I think he is good if the team is playing well, but he is not going to change games and have a big enough effect at the times when its needed.
Marty 0 Posted October 12, 2006
Philip Mulryne anyone? Unemployed professional footballer and not yet 30.
last time I saw him he was munching on a burger, just about sums him up, always had talent but didn''t think he had to work hard enough to deserve his place in the squad. Physically not good enough.

I have mad a point of watching Wales over the past six months, and Robbo is a key part of how Wales play - when Robbo plays well, Wales play well. Watching him on Wednesday night summed it up exactly for me: the player in the Welsh midfield who caught the eye was Koumas, by a country mile - but that was because the work that Robbo does allows Koumas the freedom to play his natural game. No, Robbo will never be a world beater and is not an eye-catching player, but as a midfielder I bet players love playing alongside him because he does all the dirty work and simple stuff that allows those with more talent to play a bit more. I just don''t think we have the right kind of player in our midfield to exploit this sufficiently.
Baldyboy 1 Posted October 13, 2006 watched the wales game on wed and thought he played better than ive ever seen him play for us. the position he played was just in front of back three and he was very good. maybe its time he played in safris place and we may see more from him? also thought earny was typical earnie, five shots one goal, and shooting from bizarre positions when others better placed.(shot near corner flag i mean!!) misses more than he scores, having said that at least he has confidence to have a go. Faded Jaded Semi Plastic SOB 1,220 Posted October 13, 2006 I think he is a good squad player, although he does have the tendency to look casual in his passing and chooses the sideways ball a lot, that said he gets through a lot of work and seems to pop up in attacking positions more often than other midfielders. Syteanric 1 Posted October 13, 2006 Robinson is Awful! Its like having 10 men with him sometimes, he goes missing. His passing nearl always goes to an opponenet and once possesion is lost he seems incapable of getting the ball get, and either just fouls or misses completely. His movement is sometimes good however and he fins himself in good positions but he isnt much of a footballer and i dobt we''d really miss him to be honestjas :)
