What are you expecting this summer with the signings?

Recommended Posts

A lot of us have spoken about the players Norwich should buy. People like Halford who would be perfect on the right and Koumas, Idiakez etc also joining to make us into a quality squad. But do you really think we will sign anyone like this?

I am pretty sure that all these players will be signed around june/july before Norwich have even inquired about a player. We wont sign anyone until late July/August when all these players have gone, so we will have to put up with more loans and more has beens. Or do you think we will do better this summer?

I would like to see Chris brunt, Greg Halford (because he''s so versatile) & Billy Jones. These are all signings that are building for the future aswell rather than going after 30+ Idiakez who is a quality player but with not many seasons left in him and its not like he giong to get us promoted single handedly but I do admit a player of his quality is just what we need.... Brunt is looking to the future and I would would prefer to see him at norwich.

I really don''t think koumas would sign for norwich... Halford would be ideal because he a great young talent who can play anywhere on the pitch so it says on the highly reliable Football manager 2006. He is good in the air aswell and he got a very long throw so he would be a good asset for us.

I dont know to much about Billy Jones but what I do know sounds good. He is 18, two footed and dubbed the next Jamie Carragher up in crewe. He also likes shoot from range. Jones like Halford is versatile. He can play left and right back, left and right wing back also. He plays in the hole safri role and he is good in the tackle.

I simply don''t trust Worthy with the money after seeing how he''s built our midfield!!! He would rather opt for work horses over gifted players. Ok, you need players who will give it large & go toe to toe with your Robbie Savages of this world. But, you need a mix & I don''t think Worthy can see this. Koumas would be a fantastic signing but you know what Worthy''s like with his bad apples!!!

I''m hoping that the board have learned a lesson they will never forget, and will enable the manager (whoever he may be) to assemble a big enough squad to mount a realistic challenge.

That would change almost everything, ie. a) we could sign more specialists and fewer utility players; b) we would not have to keep disrupting the squad (and depleting the transfer budget) with emergency loan players to cover injuries; c) it would increase the options at home and away - the 11 best players do not always blend into the best team; d) players would not have to keep playing out of position; e) there would be more players on the bench who can change a game; f) we could retain promising youngsters, and players at the other end of the age spectrum who provide experience and continuity but are unlikely to play many games; and g) we might even be able to think about a Cup run!

IMO the free-for-all caused by the transfer window will render it impossible to make all these changes in the summer. Our reputation in the transfer market for wanting "silly money" but not being prepared to spend it, has not done us any favours either.  IMO it will take at least 18 months to rebuild, even with full financial backing and regardless of who the manager is.  A top six finish would still be the target to aim for next season, but certainly not an expectation.

Personally, I would love Billy Jones and Halford to be signed. Jones I belive could be attainable, but with Colchester all but promoted at the moment, Halford could be harder to sign. Both players are young, hungry and great prospects, just the sort of players we need rather than the ageing journeyman. I agree that you need a mix of ages and signing those two would be great and go a long way to solving the problems down the right of the pitch.

Who says that we''ll have any money to buy these players, what if the board say that they want to keep hold of it. Can''t see us getting our money back on Hughes or Etuhu.....Robinson......

Worthy has had the money. As he will be here at the start of next season he should not be given any cash for the summer but the purse should be kept shut until Jan when a new improved Worthy?? or the new boss should be able to have it.

I have it on good authority that you''ll be seeing the following in the summer

Dave Storrey

Phil Weggle

Worthy has seen them both on paper and they look very good, very solid. He was incredibly impressed with the way Storrey has managed to keep hold of blond bombshell Ulrika for many years despite wearing naff clothes and still having curtains for a hairstyle. There is the possibility of Wayne Sutton coming on loan but Jack Hocherty is still undecided

i don''t think we should buy too many. i believe that the squad we have at the moment is good enough for automatic promotion if we sort out the right side and IF (a big if) worthington manages to make the most of his players. in my opinion, worthy has always signed good (and often great) players, but subsequently failed to get the most out of some of them (jonson, helveg, bentley, etuhu, rivers, doherty (for a bit) etc). lets hope this trend stops next season.

McKenzie''s Debut:  "I simply don''t trust Worthy with the money after seeing how he''s built our midfield!!! He would rather opt for work horses over gifted players."

are you suggesting etuhu is a workhorse?

I think that''s why Worthy signed him... To get box to box & cover every blade of grass over the 90 minutes! He was supposed to be the replacement for Damien Francis, however, Francis he is not!!
