TeemuVanBasten 3,327 Posted December 14, 2020 Credited with transforming Liverpool as a club, they were at real danger of losing their status in the game when he reminded them what winning felt like.
Fuzzar 1,703 Posted December 14, 2020 Nice guy, always appeared considered and respectful.
crispeduk 282 Posted December 14, 2020 Terrible, terrible news. Worth reading about his life and times - he fell in love with Liverpool while watching from the terraces when studying/teaching on Merseyside and later returned as (joint) manager, so achieving the sort of thing any one of us might have dreamed about. We've lost so many of the good guys this year.

Ken Hairy 3,781 Posted December 14, 2020 Really sad news, been a run of horrible news in the football world lately, this year really has sucked. RIP.
king canary 7,679 Posted December 14, 2020 Always came across as hugely likeable. Totally forgot about his spell at Villa- I quite like this cutting line at the bottom of his wikipidea entry about that spell- 'In Houllier's only season, Villa finished 9th: they have not finished higher than 15th since his departure'
wcorkcanary 4,342 Posted December 14, 2020 Sad news, always came across as honest plus respectful of ' smaller' Clubs. Decent man. RIP.
