Charlie Gilmour has been released.

An inexpensive gamble that didn't come off. You win some, you lose some.

Hopefully he manages to find a decent club.

Another weird one, makes you wonder if it's a physical problem.

He was highly thought of at Arsenal and even made first team appearances, he seemed to do ok when we loaned him but I had heard that he had been injured so maybe he's just one of those.

Guess there is a pathway issue for him at Norwich. Not likely to get ahead of Sorenson, Skipp, Rupp or Mclean anytime soon.

Is he fit and ready to play somewhere else?

Very sad, it will be difficult for him to get another club in the circumstances.

Once a very good prospect, hasn't really done anything wrong. On reflection he could think that he would have been better joining a lesser club.

I wonder how many of our players out on loan will end up this way. It has probably cost us agents fees etc. and now we are paying him off.

We are also having to pay players who are not going to play which is bad news when we can't afford cover for important positions.

Hondermark and McAlear seem to be really pushing on this year. My guess is we rate them higher.

Yep, it’s the nature of the beast. In years gone by he’d very likely still be on our books, so it just goes to show now the high level that it takes to qualify through our youth system and U23’s etc. Not great for Charlie, but shows where we’re at now. Good luck to the him though, hope he finds a good club soon 👍

Read somewhere  a couple of years back that 93% of 16 year olds that leave Ireland to join english top two tier clubs never make a first team appearance for the Club they join. Most drop down a level or two or return home. You really to have to be good...and fortunate, to get through the system to play at prem or Champs level.

Good enough reasons to suggest Adam Idah will very much be in the minority there, Corkio 👍

Very much so, early days for him yet though. Seems to have grown physically  the last 2 years too.
