Bradwell canary 112 Posted December 8, 2018 After reading this in today’s daily mail, it goes a long way to confirming what we always knew here in Norwich. Not only what a great talent he is, but seems like a wonderful human being. He and his family seems to have a wonderful relationship, and takes advice from his dad. In short, thankfully seems to be very grounded, so different from most of the young PL players we get sick of hearing about in the press. He will without doubt be playing for one of the top sides in the meantime he has wisely gone to the right club, to showcase his talent at the highest level. just hope we have got a very good sell on clause
Hucks6 186 Posted December 8, 2018 Agree one of city’s best players ever,But at Norwich we have a better squad without him,This love in for Madderson really

I went to visit a mate in Nuneaton the other day, and one of his mates is a Cov fan and gave a similar story that he claimed to have seen first hand, that happened during JM's time there. Not really sure what to make of it as Maddison genuinely comes across as a top bloke, but the guy sounded totally legitimate and credible and had no reason to make it up.... I guess maybe Madders can't really handle his pop, but is a decent fella when sober. Seems to be the likely story here. Yes we are so much better this season and we have a fantastic squad but imagine the side we have now with Maddison in it as well. The goals he could create for Pukki, the goals he’d score. Class player who’d improve most sides.

Maybe true but unless someone has done something seriously cruel or committed a serious crime I think I can look past one mistake - I've not yet met a human who has never made one. As for being a better squad without him people just mean this current squad trumps last seasons. Theres no doubt Maddison would be a massive plus for this side but the truth is our side today wouldn't exist as we know if without the Maddison sale. Maddison & Pukki would be great but Buendi and the new look Leitner aren't too bad with Pukki either! Edited December 8, 2018 by ThorpeCanary
kirku 1,358 Posted December 8, 2018 (edited) Looking past one mistake is fine, but by many accounts it wasn't an isolated incident and being involved in that stuff certainly doesn't make someone a "wonderful human being" - quite the opposite, in fact. On the field, brilliant player but I think one of the main strengths of this team is the team mentality and lack of superstars. Bethnal Yellow and Green 2,424 Posted December 9, 2018 Maddison is very media savvy. What he portrays in the press is quite different to reality.
Hoola Han Solo 448 Posted December 9, 2018 (edited) Maddison’s behaviour on Norwich nights out has been reported as pretty unsavoury according to lots on Twitter. A friend saw him and Vrancic in a club a few months ago. Said Mario was a decent chap but Madders a cocky little s hit. Apparently if he’s waiting for a taxi, he’ll wanna jump to the front of the queue in a “don’t you know who I am?” manner. Great footballer, annoying brat outside of it. Agree Bethnal, he has a manner about him which signals to me that he will be a success...at football. That doesn't necessarily make him an all round nice guy. You'd have to be pretty lazy not to do a bit of community work when you have so much time and money on your hands.
lake district canary 4,826 Posted December 9, 2018 Most people have several sides to their character, James likes doing charity work and doing good stuff off the field - but is a bit different on a night out. So what makes him a terrible person or a good person? His good side or his bad side? Or is he a young man still growing up and trying to find his way totally in the spotlight and for who maybe once he has matured a bit, maybe settles down, will show more of his good side. wcorkcanary 4,782 Posted December 9, 2018 True LDC, I wasn't writing him off as a person, just not 100% sure that he's a 'wonderful human being'. Very hard to be critical in this day and age without creating polarisation.
