Bradwell canary 112 Posted September 16, 2015 I would be interested to hear the views of the forum members on this.Personally I decline to pay this. Its a matter of principle, the amount of money ALL PL clubs have these day is in any language massive.Truthfully there is very little chance of any youngsters making into the first team while we remain in the PL. If we were a poor club in the lower leagues, where the odd player could make the first team, fair enough.I think its a total liberty, in that you have to opt out rather than opt in a renewal time.Football is a business, would you willing pay extra on any of your other bills. Its about time the club stopped this practice. What is your view?
nutty nigel 7,902 Posted September 16, 2015 I choiose to pay it. You choose to opt out. It''s something about which we have total freedom of choice.
Rustyboy 2 Posted September 16, 2015 I didn''t pay it but my friend did who has now won the price of his season ticket in the draw so not only is it a donation it is entry into a 22,000 lottery!
morty 0 Posted September 16, 2015 I do the lottery thing thats a couple of quid a month or something? Is that the same thing? We''re not a rich club, and in some way we are having to pay extra, here and there, because the current owners don''t have billions, but I wouldn''t change them for anyone. If I genuinely thought it was just the club cynically milking a few extra quid out of me, then I wouldn''t be paying it. morty 0 Posted September 16, 2015 And picking up on your point comparing it to paying other bills.Football isn''t value for money, and it has been a long time since it has been. It isn''t a logical way to spend your hard earned. I can spend £150 - £200 quid taking my kids to an away game, for 90 minutes entertainment. If you want to just break it down to value for money terms then I reckon I could get a good bottle of Whisky, a fine cigar and a months subscription to Sky for the same money. As NN says above, its freedom of choice. lappinitup 629 Posted September 16, 2015 I pay it, it''s £1 per game = £19pa. Spare a thought for the poor old binners - they pay £10 per month (£120pa) - and that''s for a grade two academy. Bless.

Lessingham Canary 108 Posted September 16, 2015 I pay it, have a chance of getting some money back, that''s my choice and I think its a good initiative by the club. You choose not to, that is purely your decision and I respect that, not really worthy of debate, other than everyone who doesn''t get involved means my chances of winning my money back must increase ?. westcoastcanary 173 Posted September 16, 2015 Would those who do subscribe agree that it heightens interest in how our Academy teams are doing, and maybe helps explain the fantastic turnouts we see at matches on a pretty regular basis?
[:D]
I haven''t a clue how many people pay this but say it was half the season ticket holders. This would produce a sum equivalent to the earnings of one first team player for about six weeks. In the overall scheme of things, not a make or break amount of money. Lessingham Canary 108 Posted September 17, 2015 In any well run business (football clubs as well) every £ is a prisoner, the more £''s you can attract the more you can improve your business, it does not mean you make a higher % profit, just increase your revenue and you can invest more and still make the same % as a return. So whilst does not seem like make or break amounts of money, it means that this money is earmarked solely for reinvesting in the academy, without impacting on the operating performance of the club, which keeps the banks and shareholders happy and gives supporters the confidence that their club is living within its means and being well run by looking after your £''s as a season ticket holder, member or shareholder and looking to the future also. Van wink 2,994 Posted September 17, 2015 Is the extra money spent in an identifyable way, or is the money absorbed into the total buget for the academy.
DDD In The Fine City 1 Posted September 17, 2015 I pay it and will continue to do so, the tickets for the under 21 games are free so £19 a season is nothing
DDD In The Fine City 1 Posted September 17, 2015 Also lots of other clubs have started doing the same now after seeing how popular it has been at carrow road
The Great Drinkell 51 Posted September 17, 2015 Being in the premiership is all about money, merchandise prices go up - ticket prices go up, but as has been said you don''t have to buy these things anything if you don''t want to. I only buy what I want. When the club were in trouble (remember On Digital) I put my hand in my pocket to the best of my ability at the time as the club really needed help then. now I feel the same as the OP we as fans get very little, if anything from being in the premiership. ricardo 8,034 Posted September 17, 2015 Its not a huge amount so I am happy to continue paying it.[Y]
