  1. Harry Kane looked out of his depth when he played for us, and I’d say that ended differently to how this board predicted.
  2. Spot on. The audience for the women’s game is different and likely a bigger pool than the men’s game. I live in Birmingham and whilst I will be travelling down to Norwich my wife, daughter and grandkids will be in a pub watching the England game. Interestingly it wasn’t that easy to get into the main pubs as tickets only and some of the big venues are sold out. Villa are at home and most Villa supporters I know will be packing the pubs out around the ground from 11. SKY’s viewing figure for our game tomorrow will be tiny as it would be for any championship game, clashing with this game. Who really wants to go to a game at 12 on a Sunday, even in normal circumstances ?. It’s not a case the game should be moved, it’s a case that no game should have been scheduled for this time slot, as there was always as favourites a fair chance England would be playing in the final. Should England win, SKY will be clambering for interviews from the women and swearing dying allegiance to the women’s game. I bet they are regretting their decision not to televise the event, especially based on the small in comparison cost.
  3. That’s a statement from the WBA manager, you make a mistake and are immediately subbed. Good job he wasn’t our manager last year, wouldn’t have had enough subs.
  4. Would it be a delayed KO though if the England game goes to extra time let alone penalties ?
  5. I thought if it hits an attacking players hand / arm it was a free kick wherever your arm is, or maybe that’s changed again ? Stone wall penalty though in fairness, but lovely to see Leeds losing.
  6. Nah she was 15, and that wasn’t a low standard. In the last few years the FA have changed the rules to allow girls to play with boys up to the age of 18, but those that are that good are with professional clubs, earning more money a year than most of us. This pay is till low in comparison to the men’s game, the highest paid player believed to be at Barcelona. Lauren Hemp is a very good example of somebody who was helped out by playing boys football. She as you are probably aware was at the Norwich school of excellence. When that closed she was left with no option but to play back with the boy’s ( her words ) and played for North Walsham Under 16’s. Through this she moved to Bristol City.
  7. Please show me where I have said I follow the women’s game or I won’t be at the Norwich game on Sunday. I can assure you though the women’s game will carry on growing. The women’s game will never have the riches or the skill of the men’s game, but it does have the potential to be as well supported.
  8. It is an interesting scenario with season tickets. Most of the WSL play currently in much smaller grounds. Arsenal for instance are limited to 1500 season tickets and they sold out very quickly this season and there is now a big waiting list. However they played 3 WSL games at the Emirates attracting large crowds, one in excess of 53,000. This year Arsenal will play 5 games at the Emirates + any knockout game in the champions league. This I believe is a 1/3 of their games. You would suspect if England win the World Cup those crowds will grow further. If the women’s game keeps growing, then it is not inconceivable that the women’s crowds could be as big as the men’s. You must also remember the people watching women’s football are largely different to the men’s game. They are often families and children that would not attend a men’s game, certainly regularly. This is down of course to cost as well as availability of tickets. Barcelona had 3 games last year with attendances in excess of 91,000.
  9. The pubs and clubs have certainly missed out in Norwich. Had SKY not moved this game, the usual pubs would have got much better trade on Saturday and then ( if here in Birmingham is anything to go by ) had a bumper day on Sunday. Wether people like it or not, the women’s game is growing and the winning of the World Cup will move it on again in the U.K. I bet outside Norfolk if you ask on Monday who is the Norwich goalkeeper and who is the women’s England goalkeeper a sizeable % would know the latter, rather than the former. And just a quick one for @ron obvious I watched local kids football up to about 3 years ago and there was one girl that trained with England that was certainly as good as most of the boys.
  10. I remember that Harry Kane guy being considered s***. The moral of the tale is you never know how good these players are going to turn out.
  11. I suspect the main losers here will be SKY, who moved the game to show on TV. Away from Norwich and Millwall supporters, I don’t think they would have expected huge numbers watching anyway. For the average person wanting to watch a game on Sunday, you would think the World Cup final, had more appeal than Norwich v Millwall.
  12. Remind me how the other EU countries are fairing, and also the other G7 countries while you are at it ?
  13. Apparently no penalty as not a clear and obvious error. Clearly the VAR decision was a clear and obvious error.
  14. Just saw it again and he didn’t get the one player, he got 2 players. Both players contact was to the head, not the chest as you claim.
  15. Indeed I don’t think I have ever seen such a blatant penalty. I know as @Duncan Edwards says we don’t like Wolves, but that affects us all. Normally you would argue incompetence, but that seemed blatant cheating. Hooper again initially, it was right in front of him. If he can rule an overhead kick a free kick for dangerous play, how on earth is a goalkeeper completely wiping out an opposing player not a penalty.
  16. Lol Complete bias though. That was so blatant that there is no longer an argument that VAR favours the likes of Man U and LiVARpool
  17. Anyone watching Wolves v Man U. How on earth is that not a penalty, goalie absoloutely clatters the Wolves player. Corrupt ?
  18. With VAR yesterday op, we would probably of won. However like many you hate VAR. Yes we all wish the officiating was much better, but you can’t have it both ways, we either live with the refs decisions, or we have VAR in the Championship and destroy the elation of celebrating a goal.
  19. They did in every other game I watched yesterday, especially in the Newcastle Villa game, where the commentator even explained why such incidents would not be given as free kicks ( let alone penalties ) this season. Plenty on here saying 1st goal was a push on Stacey and 2nd penalty was not a penalty but surely if the ref was consistent it would be one decision was right and one wrong ie if it was not a push on Stacey, then it wasn’t a penalty and vice versa if it was a push on Stacey ( that goal disallowed ) then it was a penalty. Either way one should have been given and one not, if there was consistency.
  20. Going forward as well I would argue as good as any of our wingers
  21. Yet without him we fell apart last season.
  22. A few on here slating him yesterday lol
  23. If I remember, we should have had a penalty 1st game of the season last year, which would have resulted in a red card, if it had been given
