1.
How do you know what did and didnt work well, you were at the Gooners game today. Hold on, it''s just struck me, you must have had your 50 inch TV with you, you know the one that lets you see more of the pitch. Bet they loved you at the Emirates.
wait, so by his standards - Since I watched the game today on my roommates 60" Telly, I got a better view of what really happened during the game today? Wooo! I''m about to email my resume w/ tv size to the beeb. Maybe they''ll replace lawro and his 30" with me?
2.
Even Zak Whitbread scored today, and Henderson!
I completely forgot about Zak Whitbread! Was a great lad and I was a big fan of his. was actually quite shocked when we decided to let him go! Jacob seems to be doing fantastically, and is making a big statement this season. I''m hoping he will be ready to be a squad player for us next season if/when we are still in the prem. would love for him to start racking up appearances for us at that point.
3. may not of been the most exciting fixture, but an excellent result nonetheless. 4 points from our next 3 league games and we are looking very, very good in terms of survival.
4. IF the rest of your predictions come true, we now only need 6 points from an available 27 away. Now, having picked up 8 points from an available 30 in away fixtures, including playing at spurs, united, city, liverpool, and chelsea. one doesn''t need to know ''anything about football outside of Norfolk or the premier league'' to know that this doesn''t seem like such a grueling task.
5. a long 5 or so minutes still to play out... but IF... IF we can pull out back to back victories and clean sheets, it should not be underestimated the effect that can have on a players attitude and decision towards us in the transfer window...
6. Sorry for the late pick again, but I''ll take Athleti Bilbao home win this week, Nutty.
7. Mildly interesting note - http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/35155778 BBC Article on what prem clubs need who in January, with several pundits (Including Chris Sutton) giving their two pence. when it came to us, SAM (some super computer) Calculated our expected points of if we finish the season with rudd/Ruddy, or if we finish it with Mandanda, and w/ Mandanda, we finish with near 2 more points. only thing I really found interesting is that I haven''t seen the Mandanda link anywhere reliable, and seeing on the beeb made me think there may be something slight in it. but for all we know we could of just inquired and left it at that.
8. The overall impression by neutrals on twitter seem to be that Ranocchia isn''t all he''s cracked up to be. lot''s saying he would be the slowest CB in the league and not a very solid defender. But if Italy and inter have both seen something in him in the past, then I''m sure AN could be just the man to bring it back out of him. Will reserve all judgements until we get him and have seen him play a few games. can almost predict it now though. We sign him - he plays his first game and it''s less than ideal. Everyone gets on him and skip forward 5 months and he''s our POTS.
9.
Interesting stat: he''s never scored a goal at senior club or international level in a total of 251 appearances (according to Wikipedia).
his assist stat''s don''t read much better with just two in the last two seasons, but honestly we don''t really need a full back that will be putting in direct crosses and scoring goals. if he can defend well and get up the field to help w build up play and get back to defend in a flash, then he will do fine in our team. without ever seeing him play, it''s hard to tell whether or not he can do that, but if AN thinks he''s the right fit for us then bring him in, if reports are true he may be ready to play v City in the cup. should be interesting.
10.
Re Having 4 right backs. This does not seem excessive to me as, with Wisdom currently injured and at risk of being recalled, at the moment an injury to just one of our CBs would mean Martin at CB and Whitts at RB.... enough said.
Wisdom can''t be recalled. I believe we have to cancel the loan for that to happen. We paid a sizable loan fee for him, in essence buying him for the season. Liverpool can''t take our money and then cut the loan short.
11. A quick google search for the headlines the day we signed him, and both ESPN and The Guardian say we signed a season-long loan with an option to buy at the end of the season. Neither state how much the option is for, but I would highly think that the price is there in the contract, so our cost won''t rise any more than whatever that number is.
12. "but if AN could tame him what a player be a upgrade on Redmond " DEAR GOD! It''s been a rough couple of days at work. I really did need a good laugh, thank you for that.
13.
Ambitious, but a good player. Id rather nkoulou or Michy from OM tho. Rudd has been tremendous recently but if we can find a buyer for ruddy then mandanda would be a top upgrade!
If we get Batshuayi I will eat my own hat. It was only last month that there were reports of arsenal and chelsea fighting it out for him for like 25m
14. For me Mbokani is Jerome with one difference - finishing quality. Making Mbokani our only premier league striker. Not hating on Jerome at all. he works his socks off every game and holds the ball up well. but he shows season after season that in the prem he''s a squad player. He''s an unfortunate part of the cliche "Too good for the championship, can''t cut it in the prem." I think he would possibly thrive in the bundeliga, and that''s where I would like to see him end up. He deserves to be a top player for a team in a good league.
15. Don''t know much about him but I love him on Ultimate Team!
16. It''s a good result and I''m not complaining, but we made it hard work for ourselves. few places up the table, which is great. I''m more looking at the points end of the table rather than the position side. 3 points clear of the relegation zone. but three tough fixtures coming up in soton, stoke and bournemouth, with a man city fa cup tie inbetween. I think most of us on here would of snatched at 6 points from the past 9 available if offered to us before the run, and I''d love to see something similar again. Hopefully we have a few new faces in by the time we see stoke. Hopefully a few new faces I also take back everything I said on a different thread the other day. Love Brady at left back. much more of that, please.
17. Mbokani wins it just before he gets subbed off! well done! got the goal he more than deserved!
18. Gary is on - we''re shutting up shop. Howsons done well today, but that was a poor ball he played for Mbokani
19. also - after the Flack he''s gotten for his passing recently, Tettey has been quite good today
20. Really want to see that tackle on Mbokani again, may well of been clean but to me it looked a straight red
21. Glad I''m not the only one seeing the class that Mbokani is showing today. he deserves a goal today, hopefully he''ll get it. I wouldn''t call hoolahan poor, I''d say we havent done enough to get him involved. Will agree Dorrans has been poor. not showing his early season promise and would like to see Ofoe on for him. And howson!!!! just on target and that has a chance for 2-0
22.
Perhaps life for Fer is not so great in the championship, maybe Holloway is talking up a January sale. A real shame for Fer, he couldnt wait to get away from us quick enough when qpr came knocking. Remind me again how their premier league adventure worked out...
where did this notion come from? we sold Fer because we got an offer of over 2x what we paid for him, just a season after we paid it. I don''t recall Fer making statements during the summer such as "I will not play in the championship" or "I will only play for a premier league team" Nor do I remember him refusing to play for us or any stories of him not showing for practice. people get all upset because we lost him and we lost Snoddy - we got relegated, we sold players for profit. It happens. Get over it.
23.
My point was Morty that our team didn''t really turn up ,, not that we lost ,, it''s the lack of effort that gets me . We were looking ok until the penalty , but Spurs were not that good , and anybody who thinks they will finish top four , will be disappointed at that even if they aren''t disappointed at " our" team not giving it a go . I could pick out all sorts of things , like players not trying to go past their man , to defenders walking back down the pitch after we lost the ball at the Spurs end , except for Bennet who at least tried to recover his position ...... Like I said surprised .
Spurs weren''t that good and won''t finish top 4? bit of an outrageous statement IMO. The only thing that will keep spurs out of the top four this season is selling 3 key players (which would be the most likely reason, historically they tend to do that) Or an unimaginable run of games from Chelsea. Spurs are looking like the team they''ve threatened to be for seasons. I, along with many others, will be very shocked if they don''t finish top four.
24.
I keep reading this plenty of pace that Redmond has but when do we ever see it - how often do we see him beating a full back and getting in crosses - never has done enough in a game on a regular basis to win me over I''m afraid
For me Redmond uses his pace every game. Beating defenders does not relate to pace necessarily. our last run in the prem he was beating defenders left right and centre and putting in crosses to a box with no one in it, and the beginning of the championship campaign he made opposition fullbacks look like schoolboys. However AN has been developing redmond in to more of a direct threat, which he has mentioned many times this season. His role is to no longer beat his man and to put in a cross, although that may sometimes be necessary. he''s more of a central player now, or if he is deployed on the wings, he is looking to cut inside to either play a pass to a players feet or get a shot off.. on to the matter of hand though - it''s a tough call down that left side. Brady has been my POTS so far for the threat he brings forward. And while Jarvis may of very well taken his place if he had not been injured, I think it would be a waste currently to place Brady in a more defensive role. not entirely sure how Brady would perform behind the striker. And while I agree Olsson has had his issues as games progress, I think it would be better for us to have Brady and Jarvis competing for the left mid/left wing spot. it will be interesting to see how this progresses, even with everything I have mentioned I will concede that some of our best performances on the left came when Olsson was suspended, but as the seasons gone on I would now hate to lose Brady as an out and out attacking left mid.
25.
I am sure that on days like this they will draw great comfort from being close to their loved ones.Really, really close.[:)]
that and the fact they won something before many of them were even born.
