2.

I still think we are lacking a pacey striker of Prem class. Hopefully we will make some movement in filling this ''gap''.
But a proven PL goal scorer costs big bucks, and if by some miracle we pick one up cheap (transfer fee), their wages are more than we can pay. I really don''t think we''ll be making a ''big'' signing. We''re much more likely to pick a striker up from The Championship, if we buy one at all.
They don''t have to have played in the Prem to have Prem class. Demba Ba and Cisse for example had never played at that level before proving themselves. It''s a matter of good scouting IMO.
That''s true, of course, but how many strikers are there out there with that kind of pedigree, that wouod be willing to come here and play for 20k a week, that don''t have other clubs sniffing around who would be willing to pay double that or more?

 4.
more absurd twaddle  claiming that City will not be strengthening the squad, as opposed to my view they will is hardly slightly different, it is the exact opposite   I might also point out the ''attacks'' are upon their posts, not themselves as persons   so if you must post, do try to post what is relevant and directly relates to the debate, not what you think sounds clever but has little bearing upon what has been posted
I find it amazing that every time I read a thread that you post in, you end up insulting someone and/or having an argument. It must be tough being the only person on the Pink Un with an IQ over 60 [;)]Re: OP, I think you''e right to some extent. The teams coming up are strengthening extensively, so could easily do well, just as we did last season. They''re still justifiably amongst the favourites for relegation, though. I have faith that we can do enough to survive.
 5. The fella that falls over the advertisiing hoardings in that Derby game never fails to make me laugh. Pure comedy.
 6. His transfer request hadn''t been handed in prior to the Villa game, and let''s be honest...we''d have looked OK in that game if we''d fielded Drayton U12s.I don''t really want players here who don''t want to be here. Just my feelings, but I''ve got no problem with people feeling differently.
 7. I think you need your head read. One of the most arrogant arseholes in football. Not somebody I would like NCFC associated with.
 8.
I don''t know buddy. I haven''t listened to Radio Norfolk or even read any articles on who said what. TBH I don''t really care when it comes to discussing the merits of our players. Whether he''s greedy, selfish and unpopular or grateful and popular right now doesn''t matter to me. I just really hope he is leading us out in August. None of this changes anything about his performances for us. He''s still scored 70 goals in three seasons. He''s scored them at an unbelievable rate for a modern day player. His 1.86 games per goal is better than Ron Davies and of our top twenty all-time scorers only Ralph Hunt (1.83) and Roy Hollis (1.81) have a better record. When you consider his three seasons have included a season in the top division that record is phenomenal. That buys him so much good will from me. Whilst there''s still a chance I would have thought keeping him is the best option.   Wilbraham hasn''t upset anyone with his demands. But that doesn''t mean we should offer him a new contract. It''s what yolu do on the field that counts. Holt did enough last year to increase his value to us. Perhaps McNally should make more effort to recognise that. Because we need winners in our tema not meek and mild yes men.
Fair points, but what isn''t clear is the unsettling effect his demands will have on the rest of the team. It can''t be good, at a time when you''ve just lost the best manager at the club for 20 years or more, for your captain to jump ship and further drain morale from the squad.I work in a field where trust, integrity and morale are everything. People who don''t show the required characteristics can be (rightly or wrongly) marginalised. I''m not suggesting that the team dynamic in my job is the same as that of a football club, but from personal experience, it''s not hard for one person''s attitude or actions to have far reaching consequences.Holt can''t win games on his own, despite the assertions of many posters on this board. He needs the rest of the team to perform around him, and it''s possible that his continued presence could have a negative effect on those performances (all IMO).
 9.
Holt, Fletcher or Zoua?   Let''s let their respective records decide....
You''re usually a voice of reason on this board, Nutty. One of the few posters I nearly always agree with, or at least value your opinion. However, I don''t think it comes down to Holt''s record any more. He has clearly expressed his desire to leave our club. Twice. A lot of his influenece on the squad has been his persona. An NCFC man through and through. You can''t quantify how much of a difference that makes, but it was clear to see on the pitch last season that the rest of the team seemed more "up for it" when he was on the pitch. Especially when he came back in after being dropped early season. I think that bubble has burst. I don''t think he''ll have the same effect on the team any more, and the crowd won''t get as big a lift any more when he comes off the bench, for example.I''d rather see us let him go and move on. Cash in now. Replace him with Rhodes or Fletcher, and give Morison the chance to fill his boots. I always felt that part of SM''s problem at the club was that he wasn''t Grant Holt. There are other players in the squad who can become heroes at Carrow Rd (E. Bennett, Pilks, Howson)The King is dead. Long live The King.
 10. Morison has been here for a year, and people still can''t get it right. You are, I fear, on a hiding to nothing.
 11.
Lee Clark = Manager not considered good enough for Huddersfield Lee Clark = Part of possibly the worst management team in our recent history
He''d lost 3 of his last 55 matches and they were sitting 4th when he was sacked, so I''d say it was very little to do with the form of the team. Much more to that story.No-one would have come away from the Roeder era looking good.I''d still rather have Hughton, though.
 12. ...and while we''re at it, there is no way on this earth, or any other planet we will be signing Yakubu. He''s a mercenary and will take the most cash offered to him, wherever that may be. His wages at his next club will be ridiculous, given that the clause in his contract means he''ll more or less be free.Plus, he''s about 45.
 13. Oh for the love of god, will people please stop going on about how much Andy Carroll cost. The sole reason he cost that much was because Liverpool had just received £50m for Torres and Newcastle held them to ransom in light of that, and their desperation to replace him.Admittedly, LFC have paid some big money for players that haven''t really performed, but had the Torres transfer not happened then AC was worth more like £20m.
 14.

What about Yakubu?
33 (at least)
In Nigeria years. They''re 1.5 years in the real world. A bit like dogs.
 15. Yakubu: Wages, wages, and thrice wages.McNally said today that there is no wage ceiling, but there''s only a realistic amount we can afford. The only strikers that I''d want, that I think we can possibly afford (fee + wages) are Rhodes or Fletcher. The only premier league striker''s we''d afford are in the same mould as Holt ie. getting on a bit and looking towards the end of their top flight career, but even then wages will be a stumbling block as they''re almost guaranteed to be on more than they''d get here. In that case we''d only get them if they were going to be released and were looking for a contract, in which case, why would we want them?If we don''t get Rhodes or Fletcher, then I''d rather see a youngster come in as back up to what we have and let Morison take the role as our lead striker. I''d happily see Pacheco come in in this capacity. He clearly wants to be here and that would go a long way to allaying the fear of him underperforming. It would be a bit of a punt, for sure, but when it comes to the cost of strikers, a punt is what I think we might be looking at.
 16.
Crouch is also an International, Holt is not!!! ok, maybe 2.5 mil but doubt it would be more, even if he did get 17 goals last season. However if somebody was silly enough to offer more than 3 mil I say take it!!!!
So what? The buying club won''t be buying him to score goals for England.I''d happily accept 4-5 million for him
 17.
if the Europa League is within the capabilities of Norwich then competing in (and winning AGAIN) the Champiuons League is within the capabilities of Aston Villa. Now, I''m not sure what the future of PL is BUT there are an awful lot of people on here totally downplaying the size and potential of Villa. They are the major club of the UK''s Second City. They don''t have a sugardaddy yet have still been able to fork out £24 million for a striker. They are the fourth most successful football club in England (and were the MOST successful for seventy-odd years). To downplay all that history and potential and simply say Norwich are now a sideways step from Villa - as some have NCFC fans have said - is madness. PL might stay at Norwich for all sorts of reasons but that won''t make them a club anywhere near approaching Aston Villa. They created the world''s first football league and have spent 102 years in top flight footy...they''re an ever present in the Premier League. The limit of their ambition most certainly is not qualifying for the Europa League, that''s the minimum basic requirement for Villa.
Ha ha ha haHa ha Ha. No.You can''t honestly believe, deep down, that Villa in their current set up are anywhere near capable of Champ''s league qualification? Even if you completely rebuild your squad from the ground up, there''s the small matter of Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle, Arsenal. How many of your current players can you truly say would be in a team that are capable of bettering three of those clubs? At a push I''d say 4, and I''m including in that a couple of talented players whose form has been faltering, at best. You can harp on about the past all you like. What matters is the here and now. Your team is currently poor, and will need major investment to turn things around. Even if the squad is completely revamped, there''s no guarantees they''ll be able to achieve your lofty aims. It''s one thing to assemble a team full of stars, but that doesn''t make them a team.Of course, all of that assumes that the money will be made available to build a squad capable of such goals. Personally, I don''t think the money that will be made available will be even close to what would be required.None of this means I don''t think Paul Lambert will be the next Villa boss. I''m pretty sure he will. Such is life.
 18.

Hard to argue against Cisse based on cautions per game - Cattermole, Barton and a few of the stoke players in there - with Scholes remaining as cynical as ever despite his butter wouldnt melt look. Holt top of the bad boys league table for the season though!
Is Scholes cynical or just a really sh*t tackler? Personally i think the latter.
He''s a sh*t tackler, but also very clever about when he fouls someone deliberately. There''s many, many times he''s been booked for sticking a leg out in the centre circle when Utd would have been in trouble if the guy had gotten away.
 19. Every time one of his players breaks a leg, Wenger gets his knickers in a twist, blames the player who made the tackle and calls for them to be banned.Admittedly, Martin Taylo''rs tackle was a bad one, but I don''t believe it was malicious for one second, and Wenger later retracted his gripe.I''m not sure what he said about the Shawcross/Ramsey incident, but I wouldn''t be surprised if he''d said the same there too.He really is a whinging tw@t, and in this instance so is Sagna. Footballers get hurt. Sometimes it''s an accident. Grow up.
 20.
Listening to Morrison being interviewed he is clearly annoyed by some of the abuse he has been getting on Canary Call. Many callers don''t even go to the game!
...and the ones that do go haven''t got the first clue what they''re talking about.
 21.
sarcasm, it appears, is dead....
Someone with 16647 message board posts should realise by now that sarcasm is almost impossible to convey on the internet.
 22.
Don''t think Murdoch personally choses which games to put on Sky. Or is in control of work on the London Underground...
I''m quite sure he doesn''t. I just think the bloke is a massive plum.
 23.
played well with the end of season transfer window coming up in front of the TV cameras.....not that its a "Shop window" of course....
If Morison wants to leave it''ll be because of snide comments like this, and TBH I can''t blame him really.I hope he stays and shuts all the tw@ts up who have been giving him a hard time. After all, if he leaves, who will all the bell end boo boys on this forum have to moan about?
 24.
Interesting reaction from the other players - they were very pleased for him so there''s obviously no animosity between Moro & the other players.
Exactly the point I was going to make myself. If Morison''s attitude was half as bad as some posters on here would have you believe, there''s no way the rest of the team would leap all over him the way they did today.Well done Steve Morison.
 25. Oh ffs. I was going to record and watch it when I get home in a bit. That''s just ruined my afternoon! Murdoch can kiss my arse
