We gave him a chance at the big time and he rewards us by walking at the first opportunity. At least we know all his talkof how happy he was here was just BS.
i actually can not believe your serious after all he''s done for us. I actually believe him when he says he''s happy here, however if he wants to go somewhere what he thinks can do better then he will.
You''re forgetting what we have done for him. We are a club with a history of top-tier football and European qualification. He came from no-hopers Colchester United and had not exactly set the footballing world alight until we gave him a chance.   Now he''s walked out at the first whiff of a bigger club days after telling us how happy he was here. Wait until he starts raiding our players, and  then tell me if you still think the sameof him. Mercenary b*****
yes we did give him the chance after he beat us 7-1, but he''s the one (along with karsa and culverhouse) who''s really taken us forward. he''s the one who decides the team and players that he wants. And please don''t talk about the history (or lack of) that club have because although we were a bigger club than colchester due to our potential and fans, we are not bigger than aston villa at this moment in time as they are a club with potential, and I can see why he''s gone there in a way, though perhaps a little soon. We don''t owe him anything and think your very bitter
A lot of bitter people in Norfolk tonight.
 3. Lambchops will be sacked by Christmas and you''ll be relegated now **** off
 4. Insulting the City fans by the looks of his twitter account.
 5. I''ve seen no statement from Holt that he is staying. Significant in the light of today''s news?

 8. If he does walk out on us, I for one won''t be sending him my best wishes. Before he joined Norwich City, he was a no-mark manager at a joke club and we took a huge gamble on an unknown quantity when we signed him up as manager. Norwich City gave him the oppotunity to shine on a bigger stage. The board backed him to the hilt and the fans got behind him and his team from day one. When he took the job Lambert knew what the situation was. He was aware of the seven year plan and he must have been ok with the setup or he wouldn''t have been our manager for the past three seasons. I''m pretty sure the board has always kept him informed as to what was going on at all times and gave him the freedom to run the squad exactly the way he wanted without any outside interference.  So he seems to be off at the first big offer to comehis way if the rumours are to be true. If Lambert has any sort of respect to the fans and club who has shown so much loyalty over the past three years then he should at least decline one offer. There will be bigger and better offers for him further down the line if he stays at City and has another successful season with us. If he does walk out then he will show himself to be a man of no honour. A man who walks out on legal contracts, not once, but now for a second successive time.  Another greedy leech milking the system for his own ends and stuff the people who have shown him such great support. If he goes to Villa it will be because he''s sold out his integrity for cold, hard cash. In which case I hope he fails and does another Mike Walker, ending up in Cyprus or Malta or whereever. Good riddance Paul Lambert, man of no honour.
 9.

I think some people are going a bit far here. Holt has been here longer than virtually anyone else in the first team, and has contributed massively towards our success over the last 3 seasons.
I''m not sure that the contribution of any player three years ago would be used to calculate what their next contract would be worth. The point some people are trying to make (and which you ignored by selectively quoting me earlier) is that teams like Norwich achieve what they do by retaining a togetherness even when the squad is being regularly updated. When players start breaking ranks and issuing an ultimatum to the club then that sense of togetherness can only be weakened. As I said previously I have no problem with Grant Holt trying to get what he thinks he is worth from the club but to pretend that this will be dealt with in isolation and have no effect on the rest of the squad is naive in the extreme.
The proof of that is that Holt/his agent met McNally on Monday and the only indication we have had since as to how things have gone was from Lambert yesterday (Thursday) saying he was hopeful the situation would be resolved soon. There was a school of thought on this board that all McNally had to do was shout at the agent and he would fold like a road map. Another school of thought that Holt should be given whatever he wanted without worrying about any knock-on effect. That no solution has been announced strongly suggests that Holt and his agent did not cave in and equally that McNally knew he couldn''t either. The trick always was to see if there was an acceptable compromise.
So you are saying there there is currently a stand-off between holt/agent and mcnally?
 10. Awesome that the Celtic fans could make such an electric atmosphere in what was after all, a friendly match. And fabulous to see so many Celtic fans enjoying themselves in our City. What great supporters of your team you are. You''d be welcome back any time. Absolutely we got to make this a regular pre-season friendly, alternating between the two cities.
 11.

I''d be shocked if we''d have to pay more than a million for him. The fact that Madrid had an option to buy shows that Liverpool don''t see a future for him at Anfield. How much did we pay for Ayala, about 800k? Can''t see them turning down a similar offer.
Agree. Liverpool clearly don''t want to keep him and have other things on their mind atm. I would love us to get in there quickly with a cheeky offer. Re: The player himself. I see him as a classy, hard-working little ball player in the Spanish mold who has a perfect attitude, especially towards our Club. He would be an asset IMO. His career has stagnated because he seems to have been messed around of late by his parent club and then by Athletico. The double-loan bit must have been a bit of a kick in his pellets especially. Hardly the ideal way for a young player to develop his potential. He probably got a bit dispirited and this may have been the reason for his longing for the relatively good time he had at City, as brief a cameo as it was. Once settled and happy, we should see the best of him and we could have a little gem on our hands. Come back to the nest little Dani, Paul and Co. will look after you.[:''(][:''(]
Have to agree with you about the transfer fee and the fact that he has obviously been messed around more than he deserves. Basically, he''s just been really unlucky- sent out to A. Madrid, after a regime change at Liverpool, with a view to a permanent, followed swiftly by a regime change at Madrid, which led to a further loan to Rayo, who in turn underwent a regime change. Out of all of that he was the one left holding the broken end of the bottle. Can''t be good for a young man. At the best of times, I think he''s someone who requires more carrot than stick when it comes to motivation. Right now, what Lambert needs to do (if we sign him) is put an arm round him and tell him he''s still good. However, I get the feeling that neither he, nor anyone else, knows exactly what sort of footballer he is or how best to play him. That''s his big problem. He''s got bags of technical ability- on a par with his friend''s Thiego Alcantara and Oriol Romeu. However, I just get the feeling that he doesn''t know how best to utilise them. Its something that I know- should he sign- would get sorted out by Lambert and co. But it will require patience from all concerned (including us).
Quality post
 12.
are 100+ post snooze fests full of long boring posts, some of the posts are actually about 5 feet long as they contain so many quotes from what has turned into a personal argument.. and usually whatever the subject is to start with they end up about car parks, debt and extra seating... i think starting new threads up on the same subject should be positively encouraged so that posters can get across their point..cos the alternative is wading your way through page after page of utter tedium [S]
So what are you having for dinner?
 13.

The key to survival for a newly promoted team is to beat the other promoted teams. This is what was crucial to our season. The stats from 20 years of Prem action show this.
The key to survival is surely getting as many points as possible.
Our objective will be to get as many points as possible. The strategy to accomplish our objective would be to beat newly promoted teams (plus those regularly near the bottom). So I think Brighton Yellow uses the correct terminology when he describes the key to our survival. The mini-league concept merely identifies who are the likely candidates, and most of us have a pretty good idea who would be in the mini-league.
 14.
Again cup run for me is insignificant at this stage. The time for us to play at Wembley was the Johnstone''s Paint Trophy, a competition where we should have got to the final and have a great day at an amazing stadium. It does not add financial bonus, as we found out this year. If we had got the quarter finals we would have got about 800k from that run in the cup... well you get that from being one position up the football ladder in the premiership. So right now where we are it holds no significance. More games does not guarantee your players get better, we laways hear manager complain of so many games.Semi finals etc are nice thought but not for a few years. We need to build our team so that we can feel confident of our premiership survival. Again how many Brum fans are glad they won the Carling Cup to only go down and miss out in the play-offs this year. I will tell you now none of them. It is a great day out etc is what you will hear and achievement, well it is on that day but not for the full season.Next season it is about finishing top of the mini league, WBA, Swansea, Reading, Wigan and Southampton are the teamsI expect in the bottom positions with QPR and West Ham just above it. Yes a big team will have a tough time, as they all seemed to this year (Everton, Villa and Sunderland) but our priority is these games and the building of our squad this summer to add real quality and gain more premiership experience. Lambert hit the nail on the head, we do not have ''premiership expeirence, 300 games is premiership experience''. Our boys have tasted it and excelled, guess what next season we need the same and maybe 2 seasons up you can say a few players have premiership experience.Just know it will be an exciting summer transfer window
Don''t mention the mini-league. The forum gestapo will be down on you like a ton of bricks....
 15.
He REALLY loves us. 16. ... and btw I think you''re right about the Villa position, it''s becoming more like a poisoned chalice that no serious contender really wants.
 17.
You have to also add in the inspiration factor. There`s little doubt that Villa would be interested in Lambert, but who`s to say Lambert`s not thinking "I could move to Villa for games in front of 35,000 supporters, take on all the associated "issues" and the fact that most Villa fans demand a Capello, or i could stay where i`m adored, virtually run the show, and be playing my team in front of 35,000 in a couple of years...." There are some good points on both sides of the debate, but i wouldn`t mind betting that the "football side" of the club will be right behind an expansion when finances allow.
When do you think finances should allow, Mr. Carrow? In other words, should we borrow now (or in the near-term) or save up some cash and look at it in 3-4 years time (for example)?
 18. I think Nutty is right on this one. The recent past has shown many clubs who built brand new stadiums when money first started flowing into football. And in plenty of cases funds were diverted into fixed assets and not into the playing squad. The result being a weakened football team and then relegation. As a rule of thumb I think you have to make what is happening on the pitch as first priority and then if you can achieve success, everything else will follow. That''s what has happened to us in Norwich. We went out out and found ourselves a very capable manager. We then backed him with some good funding, and the result is we now find ourselves in a fantastic position, and the money follows our success. Which is as it should be. Nutty is quite right to say that if we don''t take care of the team and make strengthening the squad our top priority then it is quite possible that we follow the same route as other clubs and see ourselves back in decline again. It''s same argument we had a few years back about whether we invest in offices and car parks and whether we spend money on spine roads that could have gone into the team strengthening funds. The huge amount of income derived by being in the premiership skews the arguement in favour of making sure the the squad today is the best you can afford. As Nutty says, it''s this season that counts. As long as you''re competing, money from just being in the Premiership can keep us continuing to compete at the top level. You''re all going to hate me for saying this but never mind: if a business finds that demand for its product outstrips the supply, it can do two things. One is, increase supply to match demand (ie, build a new stand). The second thing is to raise prices to bring demand down to the level of supply (ie, increase ticket prices). Personally, I''d like to see the club go the second route but with some generous concessions for long-term but low-income supporters and for kids.
 19. I want a season just like this year, where we were never realistically in relegation danger. I want us to compete in every game in which we play, just as we did this season. While there 3 strong teams being promoted we have a squad that is a year older, with premiership experience and works together as a unit. Many promoted players have no premiership experience and I hope we get the newbie teams early on in the season when some of their players will be making basic mistakes same we did first time round. I expect next season that we won''t be making as many unforced mistakes because the lads are a bit more savvy, but as we found out this year, there is no easy game at this level, it''s the top flight and every team has at least one player who has the ability to win a game on a given day. So ''ll be satisfied with a season like this season plus a good cup run, and I suspect we''ll get it. Oh and one more thing, Us fans need to put in a good shift too, to keep the players on fire, especially if they show signs of second-season complacency.
 20. I think there should be a sub-forum called ''BW'' so that he can post his crappy rumours there and not bother the rest of us.
 21. During extra time they should play with eleven footballs simultaneously, and the first team to net five wins. Or substitute cabbages for footballs.
 22.

Would just like to say that you and your club did yourselves proud last night. First time I''ve been to Carrow Road, but it certainly won''t be the last. Cheers for a great night, hopefully we''ll meet again some time soon. Good luck in the Premiership next season!
Hello, Paddy - a political question if I may?Are you for or against Scottish independence?
Shyster - Shaddap man!
