Maynard for sale in Jan.

I think it''s been well documented on here that it''s the system to why we concede so many goals and I agree. When we played Stoke I thought we were pretty good defensively and so nearly held out for the win (with a clean sheet). In that game we played Johnson and Crofts in midfield with Pilks and Bennett on the wings. But if I rightly remember we lacked creativity that day and really did need Hoolahan on the pitch. I would really like to see a defensive midfielder in Jan or an attacking midfielder who can also defend a bit. But that would cost quite a bit so we''ll continue to be stuck with this dilemma. Play more openly and score goals but risk it defensively or play a more solid formation and create less chances? I''d personally rather the first. And that''s the way it will be until we splash out millions on players (which we can''t afford to do). -
Even if he does get another yellow Spurs still have Sandro who is a quality player.
-
Naughton didn''t struggle against Bellamy and he certainly didn''t struggle against Sinclair. There were a few occasions where those players beat Naughton yes but those players have been causing every full back in this league problems. I just feel with Bennett on the pitch he provides more cover. But that does mean we''d have to go back to 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 which are more defensive formations.

Its all been wonderful.

Essay much? -
Crofts is on the right side of the diamond yes but he has to cover the WHOLE side of the right side of the pitch as we are essentially playing with 3 in midfield. Therefore he cannot possibly provide sufficient cover for Naughton. And he didn''t yesterday because he has other players to mark. However, when Bennett plays he is just operating up and down the wing so can get back to double up with Naughton (which is does very well). I don''t understand why you''re saying where was Bennett against Liverpool, Blackburn et al as he tracks back all the time and provides excellent cover for Naughton. Crofts can cover Naughton yes, but like I said not as well as Bennett can. And in fact when we played Arsenal crofts wasn''t very effective on the right side of midfield and didn''t cover Naughton very well at all. He kept drifting inside instead of seeing the threat out on the wing, which made Naughton struggle against Gervinho.
-
GP - Naughton not getting enough cover isn''t an excuse it''s a very valid point as to why he gets caught out sometimes. If he had Bennett in front of him (like earlier on in the season) they could double up against the better wingers in this league and his job would be made a lot easier. Even the best full backs in the world will struggle when exposed to a one-on-one situation.

Norwich have now picked up seven points in away games this term, the same amount they collected in the whole of the 2004-05 season, their last campaign in the Premier League. Very good considering we have already played Man City, Man United, Liverpool and Chelsea away from home.
-
Naughton is still young and learning. Remember this is his first time in the Premier League which is the same as many of our players. He''s having to deal with very quick talented wingers such as Jarvis yesterday. Many right backs would struggle defending against him. Also the formation we play leaves Naughton very exposed and often left in a situation where he''s one on one with the winger. Making it very hard for him. Give the guy a break!!

Go get Billy Sharp...

I don''t know why people bang on about getting proven players. It doesn''t matter how many goals a player has scored for another club, it''s whether they are the right player for us and fit into the way we play. Lambert and Culverhouse haven''t gone for players that are proven and I don''t think they will. Young and hungry is agenda usually and Billy Sharp doesn''t fit into the category. However, Rhodes does. -

He is someone who is more concerned about £££££ than working hard for the team. Not the Lambert type player. -
I''m a little worried when we play Spurs. Obviously Naughton won''t be able to play and De Laet is injured at the moment. Hopefully he will be back by then as we need a bit of pace in dealing with Bale. Maybe will have to shift Russell Martin over to right back and play Bennett to help him deal with Bale''s pace. But ahh well lets just play Wolves first :D

Jordan Rhodes

I think Norwich will make an offer for him in January. Lambert likes his big strikers. Do think we need a midfielder who can win the ball and add a bit of steal to our defence. Such as Olfinjana, although he isn''t exactly the type of player Lambert would buy. Wouldn''t mind seeing Peter Whitingham here either. If we''re going to be playing the diamond from now on then he''ll be the perfect player to play in midfield, adding a bit of creativity (although Surman did do very well yesterday). As for defence what about someone like Onouha? Man City said they''re looking to sell him. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Manchester-City-duo-Wayne-Bridge-and-Nedum-Onuoha-not-allowed-loan-moves-article844213.html But would we need another defender though with Ward and De Laet coming back from injury? Would surely have to shift a centre back before bringing in a new one. -

Isn''t Rhodes the same type of player as Holt and Morison though? Feel we need someone with a bit of pace as Vaughan is going to be out for a while. -
I bet on us to draw and Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City and Newcastle to win :)
