  1. I too agree with Bigfeller that this is one way that we can attempt to make ourselves heard, here is my offering, complete with tabloid style subject heading!! Subject: I''d rather have a Gannon in our artillery than a Gunn‏! Dear Neil I write to you as a dismayed Norwich City FC Season Ticket holder. These are obviously dire times to be a Norwich City supporter but I think one thing that we, as club absolutely rely upon is a strong relationship and atmosphere of goodwill between the club and supporters. It''s inconceivable to suggest that the actions of the current board members have been intentionally damaging to the club, but they have been damaging nonetheless. In current circumstances I fear this relationship will become increasingly strained. Again, despite what are undoubtedly good intentions the permanent appointment of Bryan Gunn as manager of Norwich City Football Club will act as a catalyst in severing the goodwill between club and supporters. Bryan has rightly been hailed as a legendary player and superb ambassador for our club but such sentiment must be cast aside when deciding upon our next management team. After Glen Roeder left, he added not only another colossal failure to his managerial background, but a feeling of disillusionment among supporters that I''d never experienced before. Whilst the introduction of Bryan and his team of city fellow city legends highlighted a special bond between the management and supporters the failings on the pitch have been glaring, culminating in our relegation to League 1. I personally believe that Glen Roeder''s regime is more to blame than the actions, or ''inactions'' of Byan Gunn for this, but the inability to impact upon results sufficiently since his appointment has been catastrophic.       The only way for our club to progress will be for the board to show a clear understanding of the dreadful situation we are in and appoint someone deemed suitable to address it. A manager who has played and managed in the lower leagues, boasting a degree of success with scant financial backing is Jim Gannon, recently made redundant by Stockport County due to their administration procedures. I''m sure I don''t need to run through a list of candidates or offer any more information on Jim Gannon but an appointment of this ilk; someone young, hungry, qualified and previously successful may restore what scraps of faith we as supporters have left in our once great club.
  2. Completely agree Graham - I think we can also offer more in terms of profile and infrastructure than Brighton which may appeal to a younger manager looking to progress in his career. However, after the lengthening list of awful manergerial appointments by our board we should be expecting the worst!
  3. Jim Gannon is exactly what our club needs right now! His record certainly puts that of Mark Robins'' in the shade. Unfortunately under our current stewardship I have no faith in the board making such an appropriate move for a successful up-and-coming young manager.
  4. Yep. I''m a complete disgrace! The rebate will be going straight into my back pocket! In all honesty anyone who cancels their ticket altogether is well within their right to do so. Millions have been paid out by supporters over the last four years of dross and I can understand if people have had enough now.  The one thing proven over these painful years is that is that the board are completely inept - they don''t need anymore rope!
  5. We have to be realistic regarding our managerial situation. I sadly don''t think Gunny has what it takes - he''s a superb figurehead for the club and will certainly not be blamed by me for the shambles we''re currently in.  I think Mark Robins is a very good shout given our plight - I can''t image his demands would break the bank and he has been around football at that level as a player and now has experience as a manager at which he''s proved a moderate succes given his circumstances. We would still be a step up for him and given that I fully expect us to be reliant on youth-teamers, the few pro''s here that no other clubs want and perhaps a few bargain basement buys then he wouldm''t have a huge weight of expectancy upon him either. A good move for both parties I should say. Regarding backroom staff I wonder what position we''re in? Would he be prepared to work alongside Butterworth and Crook? Are they here to stay regardless of what happens to Gunn?
  6. Roeder was woeful in nearly every department. He was an awful appointment in the first place, and he''s not only destroyed the team on the pitch but also very nearly totally dis-engaged the club from the fans. We would have been relegated some time ago if he was still in charge!  Gunn is by no means my choice as manager but Roeder''s Rot was steadfastly set in long before Gunn attempted his failed salvage operation.
  7. Big Feller - that was an absolutely superb post! It certainly sums up my sentiments entirely (and those of the vast majority of supporters I''m sure) and should have a far wider audience exposed to it.
  8. I had the misfortune to listen to Alan Green and Mark Lawrenson''s commentary in the car for about 15 minutes (just after Crouch had scored) - it was absolutely woeful! Alan Green whined and whinged in his usual over-opinionated fashion, complaining and moaning the whole way through about nearly every element of the game. It was much like sitting in the City Stand actually with one of the blanket brigade spouting off behind you!!
  9. Yup defintely wear a base layer - even after an hour playing 5-a-side in one of those things I had raw nipples! All the best with the run, I admire you but am in no way at all jealous! Runnning for the sake of running really is my idea of hell!
  10. I have a Kappa Man City shirt from when they were in the third tier with ''10 GOATER'' on the back. No affiliation to Man City whatsoever but always liked Shaun Goater - a proper cult striker, described by their fans as... ''''the crappest but luckiest striker we ever had. To score week in week out off your backside or back or knee or stomach, you''ve got to be a bit special''''. He''s also a real legend of the pitch, was awared an MBE for his cahrity work and even has his own national day back in Bemuda. I shouldn''t feel guilty, should I? I also have the Inter shirt (a thai ''special'' for ÂŁ10) because I just ruddy like it!
  11. The Kings Arms is indeed a superb pre-match pub! Good crowd of people, fine selection of ales, and they have no qualms about you grabbing a fish supper from the chip shop next door (which is also decent) and bringing them in with you if you fancy a bite to eat before the game! The Coach and Horses is also highly reccomended and brew their own beers alongside a fair menu of pub grub. If you find yourself in the city centre before heading to the match I often head into the Murderers (although it''s a bit of a trek to the ground) which also does hearty food and good beers. Probably frequented by a few more ''undesireables'' than those above but  I personally alsways find there to be a good atmosphere in a real old-fashioned city centre pub. I''ve never seen trouble in any of the above pubs, and you won''t be drinking out of a plastic beaker!
  12. This fat prick really embraces everything I hate about New Labour, and he comes from the haven otherwise known as HULL! Yes, Hull! In all fairness to Clarkson the Fens are rather ''featurelss'' though.
  13. Can you remember how Dion used to march around to nearly every team member individually, or create a huddle before kick of? Who can you see doing that now?
  14. I''m more or less resigned to League 1 football next season now so am clutching at positives to draw from our pathetic demise. One thing that has really struck me this season is the apathy I feel towards the players, I''ve never felt like that before watching Norwich, and feel that there is no rapport between the players and supporters. The high turnover of players over the last 2 seasons and reliance upon the loan system have contributed massively to this but also the total lack of leadership and influencial personalities within the squad. There is nobody within the squad to inspire players or supporters, and I believe this is as much to blame for our failure as a lack of talent. Last season was poor, and despite not wanting or liking Roeder''s appointment the presence of Dublin and Huckerby within the squad were enough to keep the connection with the fans alive. Not only were they players capable of pulling something special out of the bag, but they wore their hearts on their sleeves and represented the lifeblood of our club on the pitch. I felt both had a strong rapport with the fans, and influence within the dressing room. I don''t think we can put any of the current squad within the the same bracket. I don''t doubt that we have some decent ''club men'' within the squad but none that have either played regularly enough, or the posess the personalites, that would bond players and supporters. I imagine the dressing room to be a quiet place most of the time with nobody within the squad to keep it ''in check'' if heads dropped or conviction wained. A player that embodies this at present is David Marshall, a relatively talented player (despite his recent errors), but so quiet and timid, I can''t think of a goalkeeper I''ve seen interact less with supporters and his team mates. If we should drop to League 1 we''d once again see several players come and go, but I would welcome seeing a handful of Norwich youth players among some seasoned campaigners at that level playing for our club and building something we can at least connect with, even if we don''t get promoted, I just want to feel something more than apathetic towards them all! Now simply asking for that really is scraping the bottom of the bottom of the ''ambition barrell'' but if a club like ours can''t at least engage players and supporters then we can''t fall any further from grace.
  15. Oi!... http://www.pinkun.com/cs/forums/1565569/ShowPost.aspx Ha Ha!
  16. I think you need to get your tactics right with loo breaks, I''ve managed to prepare myslef accordingly and go just before kick off and again towards the end of half-time. Although I have to say, things are now at the stage where getting together for a couple of beers pre-match is the highlight of the afternoon, the game is just a neccessity that follows!
  17. I think it''s safe to say that Barclay lower, blocks D & E are the place to be if you want to stand!
  18. I''d rather just see the ''top 50 England Internationals'' list - regardless of skin colour
  19. I''m not a frequent poster but do like to peruse these boards at least once a day - I''ve developed a strategy now though that acts as something of a quality filter... If a post was submitted by Smudger or 1st Wizard don''t even bother to view it! Is that a handy hint or am I just slow on the uptake?
  20. Glad it''s appreciated! Was concerned it wasn''t very ''target audience'' ! There''s a picture on the back of the ''Green Un'' EDP pullout that''s even better! One of my favourite Eddie moments... Lady (at dating agency): Who do we have here? Ooohhh, Edward Hitler! Any relation? Eddie: Er, I have a mother... Lady: No, No, I meant Adolf Eddie: Yes, that''s her! What brilliant squit!
  21. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/30012009/8/photo/bryan-gunn-norwich-city-manager.html ... When it appears Eddie Hitler was looking after team affairs! (Younger posters may not remember Bottom like I do!)
  22. From those comments it seems Divid Carney''s considered in a similar fashion at Bramall Lane as David Bell was here - Generally good on the ball, but not a ''blood and thunder'' type of player, which will split opinion between fans who put more emphasis on technical ability, and those that value sheer determination and willing.
  23. Chavdar Yankov I''ve often thought I have a chav-dar, I can spot them a mile off! I''ve defintely had a yankov or two in my time as well!
  24. I think it''s a good principle but ultimately it''s the character of the individual player that is key, George Graham''s policy just simplifies it somewhat.
  25. Each to their own and all that, but does anyone seriously find he/she in the pic above attractive?
