  2. quote user="Manic Street Preacher"Its amazing how many people on her still defend McNally. Not sacking Hughton sooner is going to cost us £47 million next season!/quote Well, for one thing the OP conveniently ignores the fact that McNally doesn''t have sole authority to sack the manager. You will note that the decision to remove CH was a ''unanimous board decision''. So blaming DM solely is ignoring the fact that the whole board as a collective makes these kind of decisions. DM isn''t perfect but one thing is for sure, when he replaced Doomcaster the Club was on its knees, and whether or not we go down this season, we are still in a far better position than we were when he became CEO.
  3. The only positive is Sturridge got injured and Henderson suspended but it''s still a huge task for us to get anything. Next weekend will be mostly about hoping Spurs beat Fulham.
  4. quote user="Rev. Clarence Gentlefinger"LDC gets my vote. He seems an upbeat fellow and a tactical genius to boot./quote Your post about Goss was nonsense. Stop making stuff up.
  5. quote user="Rev. Clarence Gentlefinger"Jerry Goss. Already on the offy site./quote Can''t find any reference to Goss if this is true can you post the link
  6. quote user="Feedthewolf"This is a case of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. If Adams does somehow keep us up then the board will have dodged a bullet, but if (as is likely) we go down, they will be in a world of trouble. I presume Adams will tell them to go out and play with freedom and express themselves, the direct opposite of what they''ve been doing for the last two years. It could be a master stroke, but I think it''s more likely to be a shambles./quote Couldn''t agree more with this. Why do people think that all of a sudden Adams will inspire us to victories? He has no experience, no coaching staff, no Premier League tactical nous. This may prove a total disaster. I really hope he can inspire us to win the one game that we need, but I don''t understand how this decision gives us any more of a chance. I think it has made things that much more difficult
  7. A decision that smacks of utter desperation. What is Adams going to do? What coaching team does he have, what experience does he have. I desperately hope not but I think this ends all chance we had.
  8. 35 or 36pts is very likely to keep us up. We need to win one game. We are unbeaten at home in 2014 conceding 1 goal in that time. Stop panicking!
  9. Spoiler alert! Don''t read on if you don''t want the answers (well some of them at least). 1. Simeon Jackson, Jim Brennan. 2. Craig Bellamy, Peter Crouch. 3. Efan Ekoku. 4. Don''t know. 5. David Bentley 6. Jeremy Goss 7. Don''t know. 8. Pape Diop?! 9. Gary Hooper? 10. Grant Holt. 11. Bryan Gunn. 12. Don''t know. How did I do?!
  10. quote user="......and Smith must score."quote user="lake district canary"quote user="CANARYKING"won if ref hadn''t blown when he did. If we have another no-show away performance we could be back in the mire. We attacked Cardiff, West Ham and Villa and would have attacked Southampton more if they had not got the upper hand so early in the game. I think we''ll attack Swansea too. If we get at them like we did at Villa to start with, we can make them feel the pressure - and they are under pressure being below us in the table and if not careful will find themselves in trouble. Should be a good game. /quoteTalk about clutching at straws LDC.Yes, we probably should have got at least two points from those games at Cardiff and West Ham as we attacked for the whole 90 mins on both occasions bit I don''t understand how you maintain that we " would have attacked Southampton more " if they hadn''t got the upper hand so early in the game. For most teams you go a goal behind and you attack MORE but the gospel according to Chris Hughton is damage limitation every time.I agree that at Villa Park we were cruising and they were feeling the pressure but rather than ram home our advantage we collapsed like a pack of cards. For the record I think we''ll win at Swansea, not because we''re better than them or they''ll wilt under wave after wave of our lethal attack, but we have the '' Indian sign '' over them so I''m fairly optimistic we''ll win or, at the very worst come away with a point. When all said and done, although you''ll never admit it, our away form this term has been appalling.... /quote Whilst no one is going to suggest that 2 wins, 2 draws and 11 defeats away from home is anything other than a poor record, the fact is that we are not the only ones to find it very difficult away from home at this level. Fulham 3 wins, 2 draws, 11 defeats Palace 2 wins, 2 draws, 11 defeats Cardfiff 1 win, 3 draws, 11 defeats Hull 3 wins, 2 draws, 9 defeats Stoke 2 wins, 4 draws, 10 defeats By comparison, we are 7th in the Premier League in terms of home form, which is a remarkable record. One that really does make you wonder how Hughton has come under so much pressure. Only Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal have conceded fewer goals at home and we have taken more home points this season than Manchester United. Food for thought.
  11. quote user="Paul''s Ferry"quote user="Matt Juler"quote user="Pauls Ferry"When did everyone stop thinking we''d go down?/quoteIn my mind we''re one points ahead of what I was predicting. I had a loss against Spurs and a win against Stoke. This doesn''t however change my views about Chris Hughton, he''s not the correct man for NCFC as he''s not getting the best out of what''s available to him and we are often capitulating away from home. /quote Why bring Hughton into it? I''m just amazed that our fans seemingly change with the wind. If we are as bad as was being intimated after Southampton, I don''t see how one result can make so much difference when folk were talking about relegation with such certainty before. I''ll just make it clear that at no point have I thought we were going down.
  12. Now that we''re in the lofty heights of 13th place I feel a little more comfortable looking at each Club''s run-in to predict who the bottom three might be, here is my conclusion but feel free to add yours! Cardiff are doomed and will finish bottom. Away games at Southampton and Newcastle and a home game with Chelsea look unlikely to yield more than perhaps one point. They do have WBA and Sunderland away and Stoke and Palace at home but realistically would have to win all four games to reach 38 points. It looks an impossible task. I predict 20th place and 31 points. Crystal Palace may well join them. They have an absolute pig of a run-in. Home games are so vital at this stage and they have still to play Chelsea, Aston Villa, Man City and Liverpool at Selhurst Park. 3 points from those 4 is probably the best they can hope for. With away games at Cardiff, Everton, West Ham and Fulham, what they do on the road looks decisive but they haven''t won many away all season and I can see them going down on 32 points. For me, West Brom and Swansea will survive. Albion have home games with Cardiff, Spurs, West Ham and Stoke to come, with the last two games particularly looking like they may yield maximum points against sides with little to play for in the last few games. I predict 37 points for them. For Swansea, with Norwich, Villa and Southampton at home and Hull and Sunderland away I can see them getting at least the two wins they need and a total of 39 points. It looks to be Fulham v Sunderland for the 17th place. Although Fulham have been very poor, their run-in does look the easiest of all, with only Spurs away of the big sides left to play. The last three games of Hull h, Stoke a and Palace h may provide salvation, and if the canaries donate the usual 3 points I can see them scraping up to 34 points. Sunderland have games in hand but frankly they don''t look like they will do much good. They have Liverpool. Spurs, Man City, Chelsea and Man Utd in their five remaining away games. I''m not sure they will get more than maybe 1 or 2 points from those. For them, it all comes down to home form. West Ham, Everton, Cardiff, West Brom and Swansea remain. They would need 9 points to equal Fulham''s tally of 34. Can they do it? I''m not sure but it looks a tough ask. They''ve probably got to win 3 of the home games that remain or at least two with a few draws. It won''t be easy. My conclusion, Cardiff, Sunderland and Palace to go down.
  13. quote user=" Green and Yellow"It all went wrong when someone from within the club contacted Lambert''s ex-wife and tipped her of about something. And I''m not a billy bullsh*ter/quote Evidence please.
  14. A well written piece but it seems to me that it is written with a strong degree of hindsight, which was not afforded to the board when they appointed CH. When he was appointed there seemed to me to be a reasonably strong sense of approval from supporters. Let''s not forget CH had won the Championship with Newcastle with 100pts and over 90 goals, and done a good job on a shoestring at Birmingham. I would seriously take issue with your contention that ''he has not done a great job to put it mildly''. I think in comparison with his resources, he''s done pretty well. We finished higher than expected than last season and we are, like it or not, about where most neutrals would expect us to be right now. The issue, for me, hasn''t necessarily been about results, for which I believe CH has done a pretty decent job, but about style - that seems to me to be the reason why the majority of outers want him out. My feeling is that whatever happens he will now be gone in the summer. But if he keeps us up, he should go with another plus on his CV, and certainly not with the kind of divisive derision that went his way on Saturday for the crime of bringing on two strikers and Redmond.
  15. around 37-38pts looks like being enough to stay up the way things are going. We need to win 2 games and get a couple of draws. We have the best chance in the home games v Sunderland and WBA, but there''s no doubt that Southampton, Swansea and Fulham away are games that we need to get some points from, maybe 2-3pts from those aways, 4pts from those two home games, which would put us on 35-36. We then need 2-3pts from the last 4 games. Arsenal home seems the most likely opportunity to do that. It could be squeaky bum time on the last day!
  16. To be honest I think we''ve played as well as that in all the last four games - the system with Tettey back is working incredibly well. The only difference today was that when we did make a silly mistake, Adebayor didn''t score, and when we got our chance, Snodgrass took it. Otherwise it was a similar performance level to the last 4 games. If you keep doing the right things, you get the rewards.
  17. The emotion that he showed displayed just how much the Club''s status means. It makes the criticism of him on here all the more ridiculous. A top bloke.
  18. Hughton''s P45.2 - where are you, where are you, let''s be havin'' you!!
  19. I''m sure few people will read this post because none of the outers will be on here so quickly after a win, but today is why some of us have backed the manager. The passion from the players, manager and CEO was outstanding. Every play is giving his heart and soul for the manager. What a fantastic day.
  20. quote user="Ray"You are correct Beefy, I am making assumptions, but then so is everyone, to quote you "For all we know the money has already been spent." So you are guessing as much as I am. Although according to the CEO we were close to a signing in January which fell through, so from that I am assuming the/some funds were available, which does give my case some weight, doesn''t it? Anyway I''ve enjoyed this post, at least it''s been one of the more civil ones. I''ve not assumed anything Ray. What I''ve said is that we don''t know whether that money is still there or not. And if course even if some or all if it is. It may already be accounted for in wages etc. The desk that fell through was a loan desk according to McNally but what that suggests to me is that the Club were trying to sign more players, which is what you suggested that they should do in the first place!
  21. quote user="Ray"I am assuming your accounting knowlege is greater than mine, so could you explain what the following means, it''s taken from the published accounts (note 27)- thanks. Cash balances Cash at bank and in hand £11,698,000 Bank Overdraft £0/quote If that is taken from June what relevance does it have now? For all we know, that money has already been spent. Could have doubled too Beefy!/quote That''s the point though isn''t it Ray? You are the one making assumptions in suggesting that the board might have spent more. You don''t have any evidence to suggest that they have funds available to do so. You are making assumptions, not me. I''m pointing out the assumptions that you have made, that may not be correct, in making your case.
  22. quote user="Ray"Ricardo, I am assuming your accounting knowlege is greater than mine, so could you explain what the following means, it''s taken from the published accounts (note 27)- thanks. Cash balances Cash at bank and in hand £11,698,000 Bank Overdraft £0/quote If that is taken from June what relevance does it have now? For all we know, that money has already been spent.
  23. Point 1: We have already spent, because the noose is no longer round our necks. Point 2: You are making considerable assumptions about what money we have available as of this time. In any case, the transfer window is closed so what point are you trying to make? Point 3: The Club has not sold any players against its wishes. What the fans think may be different, but the Club were happy for Holt to leave, and by all accounts he seems to have been offloaded at the right time. Point 4: Agreed Point 5: I''d be interested in the statistics as we are both looking at this through the prism of our own narrow outlook. However, without a doubt our academy boys have it better than most. Point 6: You have a right to criticise of course. However... Point 7; When the current board came together we were in League One and fighting off creditors. We are now in the PL and debt free. Even if we go down, they''ve achieved an enormous amount in comparison to all those before them, certainly in the last 20 years. What I don''t like Ray, is that these sort of posts have become more frequent as we''ve been perceived to struggle on the pitch this season. I don''t think that''s fair. As I''ve said before, unrealistic expectations lead to these kind of views - that ''all is not well'' on the pitch to off the pitch. By any measure in the last 20 years, off the pitch we are in the best shape we''ve been.
