1. Agreed. A typical home vs away pair of decisions. The pen is the kind of thing that is often given, but really should prob have been a booking for Weston. Someone on the BBC 606 gills site gave the ref 8/10. Truly bizarre. He gave gills nothing until the pen, and I''m sure he even got some throw ins wrong. Better in the second half, but the damage was done and he massively bottled a pen for us in the last seconds.
2. We must''ve been sat near each other ncfc star, couldn''t have been more in front of me, block 6 row g. I think the fact a couple of gills reports say it was a bad decision would suggest it shouldn''t have been given
3. This report is in direct contrast to the one on the gills offy site which is abysmal
4. I don''t agree about the penalty. From where I was it looked an embarrasing decision. I''ll have to take a look again but I will be very surprised if forster''s red isn''t rescinded.
5. Agree with most of that, didn''t think lappin had a good game (by the standards he''s set this season), the quality of balls into the box was poor really from everyone. Also, rudd had a couple of dodgy moments due to nerves/inexperience, but pulled off an absolute wonder save, certainly no worries if he has to go between the sticks for a game or two. All in all an enjoyable day. We''re not the finished article, but we are quite solid and we are tricky to beat. No complaints about lambert so far. Next two need to be won though....
6. It really is a miserable place. Not in a hurry to go back, but I will go in a couple of weeks!
7. I think our formation leaves things too congested to work it through the middle. Gillingham had a 5 man midfield and as we had no width they were all in the middle of the park. Most concerning for me, and lambo is clearly aware, is the lack of pace. We were incapable of hitting them on the break. Wes has a great touch (not one of his best games today) but he can''t beat players for pace.
8. I''m not sure you can read into that, surely he''s not narrowed it down at all?
9. I feel a bit uneasy about this one. I can only think of 1 good result at gillingham ever! I wouldn''t be pleased if we didn''t win, but wouldn''t be surprised at all if we lost. My heart says 2-0 city, my head says 2-1 gills. In the recent(ish) past we''ve not often strung two good results/performances together, and they''ll be looking to bounce back from last weeks performance. Fingers crossed, games like thus will define our season.
10. How on earth do you know if mlj is any good? He must''ve played all of 5 minutes for us!
11.
Semi should never be in a norwich shirt. I don''t rate Forster but he is the best we have at the moment. Assuming all players fit: Forster Spillane Askou Nelson Drury Smith Russell Lappin Hoolahan Holt McDonald
Hughes has got to be a part of our best 11. For me the toss up is between Smith and Russell, Smith has been playing well but I think I''d go for Russell to give the midfield a bit more bite.   OTBC
12. That''s probably a bit higher than his level. Famagusta on the other hand.......
13. Surely that''s only the case if the player doesn''t want to leave. If he wants to leave he could surely agree to waive it (or reach some other mutual agreement).
14. The most important thing a keeper can do is to keep it simple. I''m not anticipating seeing him in the first team anytime soon/ever.
15. I just had a look on wikipedia and apparently he''s on trial at a Cypriot club, famagusta. I did notice one player they have, delron Buckley, always looked a decent player when I saw him play for south Africa. I can''t think of a player who seems to have a more distorted view of their ability than fozzy. I here hendo was cocky, but he was just a kid, what was fozzys excuse? The more I think about fozzy the more irritated I get and the happier I am to have smith and adeyemi!
16. I find it laughable he was our captain and unsuprising that he hasn''t find a new club. Too lightweight/crap at tackling for lower leagues, to shit for higher leagues. Lower league football on the continent would prob suit him best, barce b perhaps......
17. Weren''t the initial allegations of racism against diouf? Or has the commentators just got the wrong end of the stick?
18.
Or maybe Maric is injured or considered for Saturday........
Very unlikely I''d say. Even if he is in consideration for Saturday, surely they would choose to try and boost his fitness?
19. No Maric. I envisage we''ve seen the last we''ll see of him, which is a shame based on how good he looked in pre season, but at least he''s only on a one year deal (thanks Gunny, I think.....).
20. The second one can''t be true. He played one season for Reading and that was in Division 2, and his only goal for them was against Luton Town.
21. I agree that it''s excellent that we have the options, but I also think it''s key that we know (or more Lambert knows) what the best combination is. It''s so vital that we have a settled side.
22. I agree about Hughes. As I think rusty is that little bit steelier than smith I''d put him alongside. I''m not sure adeyemi is quite ready yet to be honest, and perhaps more to the point smith is a little better and there''s not room for both of them in the side. Who would you go for?
23. Whilst parts of the team are starting to look like they will pick themselves, what does everyone think our strongest midfield will look like? I know this has been discussed a bit elsewhere, but think it''s worth it''s own thread. We have a huge number of central midfielders at our disposal when they''re all fit, but who should be in the team?as it stands gill and tj would prob not make the squad for me (maybe tj on the bench). My ideal pairing would probably be rusty and Hughes. I know smith has been excellent, but alongside Hughes I think rusty would add that little bit more steel. Great thing is, a bad performance or two from either and smith steps straight in. I''ve seen other suggestions for smith or Hughes to play down the right. In the absence of a right midfielder of any quality (I don''t rate Daley, I can''t even really see much pace) maybe smith or Hughes could play there, however in the long term a proper pacey winger has to be the objective. I hope lambert doesn''t fall into the trap that perhaps gunn fell into, I don''t think he will, of trying to shoehorn all our best players into a team which ends up with no balance or shape. It takes strong management to resist the temptation, but I think lambo will make tough calls such as these.
24. I''d love to have him back at the club in some capacity. He fully deserved to be a club legend for the effort he put into playing for ncfc. This was ruined for him by worthys blind faith when perhaps better options were available, holty did nothing but try his best. He''s here, he''s there, he''s every-"ruddy"-where, Gary holt, Gary holt!
