1. Be fair, even if they dont like their new manager when they appoint one they only need wait a month and another will come along anyway.  They are more regular than Eastern Counties Busses [;)]
2. Let''s hope this decision was Roeders and that it signals his excellent judgement - I am afraid I cannot share you charitable view about Duffer. Mind you, we now have no assistant, no coach and precious little clue on the pitch - doesnt fill you with hope going into the weekend does it?
3. ...or maybe Ian Crook (fits the already employed and was at a recent game according to some people on here).
4.
He wasn''t the only one who wanted the job, Jewell was ''READY to accept if the board had dipped into their pockets and produced £2 mill for new faces eg: loans etc, which they Refused to do!!
I am not exactly jumping for joy today, but do you actually have any evidence to back this claim up with that I have missed somewhere?
5. Like many others he would not have been my first choice (or second or third for that matter).  Point is however he is what we have got and we have now no choice but to get behind him and the team and try and collectively dig ourselves out of the hole we are in. When the dust settles I hope Archant will be asking some questions of the board though about who they interviewed, and why it took so long to make an appointment when this guy was out of work.  We lost the opportunity of 9 points in the meantime and that may haunt us come May. Good luck Glenn, you are going to need it.
6. This thread is too sensible to be lost on page 2 whilst page 1 is full of dross posts about false manager rumours - so bump. [:$]
7. Got to say I am getting fed up with him banging on about the sale of his mates (nobody at Carrow Road forced Etuhu to active his get out clause so he get play in the Premiership for more money each week) and how awful it is to be losing each week - perhaps he should consider how the poor sods who have to pay to watch the current shambles feel (which might just inspire him to run around a bit more). Hucks was a legend in our promotion season, and second half of last season he was on fire as well.  Sadly though at other times he just drifts along and now seems determined to be a mouthpiece for the disconted within the dressing room. Perhaps we are seeing the real Huckerby here, and in doing so it may go some way to explain why someone with such massive natural talent and ability has had so many clubs over the years and is now plying his trade beside some journeymen who (on his best days) would not be fit to polish his boots.
8. Great post Shaun - sensibly argued and a very realistic assessment of the situation we are in.  Parkinson would not be a good move for me but I have to agree he seems to fit the bill in terms of experience at this level and with working with limited resources to get the best out of average players.  Your other three "realistics" just do that better in my view.  I am not sad to see he seems to be receding if the news this morning is to be believed.  His record as you say though hardly justifies some of the hysterical reaction to his being linked to the vacancy (albeit some of this reaction is from a couple of the usual suspects). It seems that the mess we are in currently is causing many of us to lose all sense of perspective and reality - understandable as it is largely because the club we love seems in terminal decline and we can see no way out of a spiral of truly clueless performances.  In this scenario we are looking for unrealistic saviours when survival is most likely to be achieved with the likes of your realistic options.  I would love to see Jewell get the job but I just dont see what is in it for him - if he waits around he can have a Premiership job in the near future.  We need someone in post now and we may have to compromise a little to get that (within reason) because if we dilly dally much longer it will be too late for anyone to turn this around. Likewise with Di Stefano - how anyone can see him as being a potential saviour seems absurd.  I hope your reading of the Turners involvement is correct as I to have come to the conclusion that the time for radical change at board level is now overdue.  I would personally hope that Delia and co could allowed to go with a similar quiet dignity that Grant managed (they did afterall oversee a playoff final and promotion which is conveniently forgotten by many) rather than being forced out in repeat of the last days of Chase. As I said though, excellent post for a Monday morning and thanks for taking my mind off the monotony of work.
9. I agree and have never understood the anti-Green posters on here.  He was worth 10-15 goals a season to us in my opinon for most of his time here.  OK his interest had gone by the time of his departure but frankly that is hardly a surprise for a guy good enough to cut in the Premiership and who probably stayed longer than many others in the same boat would have done before losing patience with our inability to get back. Hadly surprising some of the successors between the posts dont match up to Greeno (although I have a feeling Marshall might come close in time).  I would prefer Green to the Robinson or James for England anyday.
10. We need someone in post ASAP - this run of defeats, poor performances and ever decreasing morale/confidence needs to be broken before we are so far into it that recovery and survival become too great a task.  Hopefully whovever comes in will also rapidly fill the backroom gaps we have as well as I cant help but think some of the recent clueless performances have not been helped by the failure to fill Hunter''s post. We need an experienced, capable and complete management team to turn this around, and previous dithering by the board does not bode well for us getting it.  I hope I am proved wrong well before the end of the week.
11. Today is the lowest point in my 25 years of supporting City - and for the first time in that period I dont see any indication of how we are going to get out of this mess.
12. Parkinson is not my first choice either, but frankly he is about our level at the moment unfortunately.  I dont see that we are likely to attract a top rate manager in our position and with a board who make scrooge look profligate.  Lets just hope whoever comes in can have a clear out of our current backroom set up - because we look clueless at the moment and this needs addressing pdq. The only way is up now...or down at the end of the season obviously.
13.
I think a bigger problem is ANY thread whether it''s about the new away shirt, the team coach or the nearest pub doesn''t get very far before the anti-board brigade jump on it and then the thread deteriorates into the same old, same old. I feel sure this must put many posters off knowing anything they say is going to be ridiculed, called sheep, delia''s darlings or worse. Unfortunately virtually every thread on this board tends to take this course It''s a bit like having a discussion with friends in a pub when the local drunk decides to intervene. We''ve all met him haven''t we?  There can''t be one supporter in this land who is happy with things at the moment but to be a football supporter you have to be the eternal optimist. That is the nature of the beast. I have to admire those on here who support the club through thick and thin and are not afraid to admit it. When I walk into the ground I am only ever thinking of the game ahead, never what''s going on in the boardroom. I must confess, I feel very negative about things at the moment but in a very POSITIVE WAY though !!
Excellent post lappinitup - was going to say exactly the same thing but you have summed up perfectly how I feel.
14.
These silly newbies are infuriating. MODS DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEM [8o|]
So you were never a first time poster then?  Ignore them if you want, but I dont think blocking people from posting is the answer (although I agree there seems a link between irritating threads by first time posters and school holidays).
15.
Can''t see anything in this one myself - not with Norway on the verge of qualifying for Euro 2008.
Would be a good catch if it happened though - would know the Scandanavian market well and we might be able to pick up some bargains in January to get us out of a hole.
16. I will pray to God, Allah, Buddha, or anyone else who might be listening that you are right DDD.  But something tells me we are in for another dose of disappointment unfortunately - simply dont see where the next three points are coming from at the moment [:(] Mind you, be great to have egg on my face come the end of the night. OTBC
17. Not many things we all agree over on here, but this must be one.  Get well soon Joe!
18. Jewell was not alone - he had Elvis and Lord Lucan for company - see how easy it is to make stuff up now [:#]
19. As a matter of interest does anyone know what our worst run ever actually is?
20.
am i right in thinking Pulis has never been promoted as well?  Stoke always end up mid table.. we need someone who can improve us season after season.. not stagnate us... jas :)
Mid-table is a damn bit better than where we are now, but I take your point. A Pulis like character is what we need - experienced in this league, able to get the best out of fairly ordinary players and used to working on a limited budget.  We could do worse although not my first choice.
21.
Can you explain to me why this is such a bad decision when we haven''t scored in i don''t know how many hours and we''ve signed a proven, experienced striker...........?
How about because he is fat, cant get in the team at WBA, fails the clubs "match fit" requirement.... I hope he turns out to be a repeat of Dion, but frankly I dont have a good feeling about this one.  If he does then I will be delighted to eat a slice of humble pie (but frankly I reckon Hartson will have scoffed the lot before I get my spoon out).
22.
this is made up by the mail! the club is not gonna let duffy get hartson on loan - no chance!
D''oh!
23. Why would you swap a team at the top of the league with Premiership parachute payments for us?
