Everton sign up big Frank Lampard
cornish sam replied to Mengo's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Thanks Shef, that was exactly the kind of answer I was after... So it boils down to, they will probably try to fudge it so the book cost is nothing until they have cleared the current accounting period though they may not be allowed to depending on how 'nice' their auditors are.... I fully expect to hear nothing more about this then and everyone to just pretend that they haven't broken ffp. -

I saw that, says a lot about how desperate spurs were to get him off their books! Perhaps the FPA could clarify how the potential future payments should be represented in the accounts and if this would still have a (reduced?) Impact on FFP calculations... (I know there was a lot of talk on this kind of thing a few weeks ago in another thread but I lost track of that discussion) -
The problem with trying to spend our way to safety is that a) we don't have very much money and b) we're trying to spend against the richest club in the worldâ„¢ Either what we already had is good enough or we would still fail despite spending so we go with what we have, don't upset the team that is starting to emerge and don't have to wait for new players to settle

£40m for Alli apparently!!! How the fudge can Everton afford this and not run into FFP? They've already spent something like half a billion over the last 5 years and hajrdly had a fee in that comes to mind... Edit: just answers my own question, looks like they can't... I wonder what their punishment will be? -

Could argue that Watford haven't strengthened despite their signings, similarly Burnley losing woods and replacing him with a potentially disruptive influence from Germany could go either way... -
Christian Eriksen? ...maybe?

Turns out that Frank was his coach when he was a teenager so makes total sense that unless we offered silly money then he wouldn't ever have chosen us over Brentford... -
Erikson to Brentford confirmed

So it's not just a Danish connection it is actually a returning to his youth coach who made him the player he is connection... -
Why was it clearly long term frustration? He was frustrated over a specific thing (us not letting him go and rejoin Lambert to villa) and was expressing that. Even though it lead to a bit of short term resentment he obviously loved the club again when he left... Just to add, surely as this has no obvious trigger event that might spoil his opinion of the club (other than the chance of getting laid) this shows more disdain for the club than Wes did?

Shows the power of being on a network of clubs, sign a player still to develop and you can send him to the club your wife owns who just happen to be regulars in Europe .. -

This would be the same owner who has repeatedly been accused of being involved in match fixing, intimidation of officials and a litany of other extremely dodgy business practices outside of football that wouldn't put a mafia boss to shame? My forest supporting mate certainly doesn't embrace him and my understanding is that isn't uncommon among their fan base... -
It's not quite though, is it? Liverpool FC are in no position to start policing the internet so they are doing what is within their power. Even the police are in no position to start policing the internet, they just step in when something happens that is so egregious they're needed. A lot of the low level trolling will come nowhere near their threshold yet can still do serious damage to a person's mental health.

Shhh you weren't meant to look at that column....

Thing is though, we aren't. On a PPG basis we are 17th as well. Those teams need to do better in their games in hand than they have in the games they have played for it to be a false position... https://www.soccerstats.com/table.asp?league=england&tid=10

Roy Hodgson is back!
cornish sam replied to cambridgeshire canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Those are remarkably consistent W/D/L ratios across all his premiership jobs. No standouts but good consistency... Let's hope Watford is an outlier! -
Yeah, for the decent ones, most of the cheap ones don't have GPS built in so there's no way to enforce any of that...

Var could work, if it was implemented properly. I said before it was brought in the way it should be done was have it able to just call back play for 30 seconds max. If no decision in that time then it obviously isn't a clear decision. The other potential option is challenge flags like in NFL/cricket though that would be less successful as those games stop repeatedly at shirt intervals anyway and you would get frivolous appeals just to break up good opportunities for the opposition...

Those odds are surprising, but, markets are mostly money driven so there's obviously still more money going on us than them...

The best thing about the last 2 games

That it they hadn't been ogd would have gone to a Norwich player to bury into a gaping goal... -
I thought she deleted her account after her previous itk proclamations proving that she wasn't....
