1. How dare you criticize "He who must be obeyed" ! Seriously, good post and as it''s Saturday evening I can''t be bothered adding to it except to say to to all you Roedents ........ yes, I think he''s done a great job too but he''s not immune to criticism.
 2. I don''t participate in discussions on here very often now because to be honest I think most of the posters are silly. For me this is illustrated by the large number of you who support Cluck being banned. My understanding is that he was banned because of his provocative posts and if that is the case I could not disagree more. What''s the matter with you all ? If you don''t like someones opinion then you have a choice  - you can just ignore it. Why ban someone from a discussion forum just because you don''t agree with the content of their posts ? Neither Smudger''s nor Cluck''s posts were obscene, racist, violent etc so what was the problem ? For my part, I used to enjoy the reaction that their posts provoked in some of you and I couldn''t understand why you were so easy for Smudger and Cluck to reel in. Most of the threads on here are pretty boring anyway and some of Clucks and Smudger''s posts served to wake everybody up.
 3.

I got involved in this discussion because of the unwarranted attacks on Neil Adams but I must admit that I am getting more and more uncomfortable with Roeders prickly, barbed outbursts. As someone else has already said, if he''s super sensitive now what''s he going to be like when he does come under pressure ?
Have you forgotten so soon the farcical nature in which our previous two managers have dealt with the media? We have Peter Grant slating Cureton in public for having a shot in a match where he was on a hat-trick. How about Nigel Worthington''s brilliant handling of the Ashton debacle? Roeder coming down heavy on Adams'' inane comments is about setting the boundary for the local media and employees from the club about simply making up stories or speculating about the personal relationships inside the club. Glenn has been very careful to keep reprimands and criticisms of individual players very private, which I quite like. Even when we know that words have been said we all know that those words are between Glenn and the player. Huckerby hasn''t come out and implied anything negative, Fozzy even goes so far as to tell the board to back Glenn in the Summer and Lappin, despite being on the outskirts of the side, is still cropping up every week saying that he wants to return to Carrow Road to fight for his place. All of this is really quite positive and supports the idea that Glenn''s interaction with the players is much better than Grants. There is nothing negative about either players or managers coming out of the club, and that''s a good thing, Adams'' simple lack of thought upsets that balance, that he is an employee of the club to boot simply makes his comments more foolish. Cheers Tickers
If Adams is a remunerated employee of the club then there is no doubt that he is unwise to criticise Roeder or the club and, if that''s the case, he should not be working for Radio Norfolk. Simple case of conflict of interest. This is why I have asked for conclusive proof that he is a remunerated employee of the club as opposed to helping out the under 9''s from time to time. In any case, as I keep saying Adam''s comments were hardly offensive, malicious or deliberate mischief-making and therefore did not warrant the reaction they received.
 4. Norwich '' R '' Us   You''re getting carried away now. You seem to clout down any reasonableness expressed on this board only of course if it''s not in agreement with your views which you so vigorously express. You and 1st Wiz agreeing on anything must be akin to fascism evenually finding common ground with stalinism. A full circle of extremism. And yes, I am using hyperbole to illustrate a point so, no, I am not really accusing you of being fascist or stalinist. 1. Can you confirm unequivocally in what capacity Adams is employed by the club ? Please answer this question factually not speculatively. 2. Can you confirm exactly what it was that Adams said to annoy Roeder so intensely ? I have listened to and read everything that Adams has written on the subject of Roeder and Huckerby and I can state without any fear of you trying to contradict me that nothing he has said has been nasty, unconstructive or unreasonable. In any case, he''s employed to comment and give his opinions on Norwich City FC.    3. Why should all posters concur with your views and why are you so obnoxious when expressing your disagremment with other posters ?
 5.
Can we just cut Glen a little slack here, as manager, he must have a few pressures we''re not even aware of, the bloke has worked miracles here and does not deserve any flak over this.
Cutting people a little slack is a bit rich coming from you, you who normally doesn''t take prisoners ! J I got involved in this discussion because of the unwarranted attacks on Neil Adams but I must admit that I am getting more and more uncomfortable with Roeders prickly, barbed outbursts. As someone else has already said, if he''s super sensitive now what''s he going to be like when he does come under pressure ? After all, frankly he was really in a no lose situation when he arrived and now he is surrounded daily by praise and compliments to such an extent that the worry is that they will go to his head or have already done so. He seems to be behaving like someone who knows that they are currently indispensable. I''m the first to concede that he has worked flipping wonders with our club and I can''t thank him enough for it and long may he stay but that doesn''t make him immune to criticism. He isn''t perfect, no one is, and if we can''t have a constructive debate about some of his negative points as well as his many postives then it''s a poor show.
 6.
Glenn Roeder is doing a brilliant job for Norwich City and therefore perhaps he feels he should be above all criticism. I wonder if he''s a bit touchy because he thinks he hasn''t received enough praise for his efforts - maybe he would have a point there. Having said that, I think his remarks regarding Adams and Huckerby were childish and totally unnecessary. As another poster has said he should have contacted Adams privately instead of ranting in the press as he did. Maybe somebody should have a quiet word with Glenn and tell him to calm down a bit!
Good to read a sensible post and one that stayed on rather than strayed off the original point. No one can dispute that Roeder has worked wonders for the club but he was out of order saying what he did about Adams (and there is no doubt that it was Adams he was talking about). And why some of the posters should have distorted the original post into bad mouthing Adams is beyond me. Being a Canary in exile I particularly enjoy Canary Call and I always find Adams very constructive, fair and interseting.
 7.

I notice a middle age lady got hit by an object, shame she looked upset and holding her head. It also appeared that the stewards and police done nothing and were only arresting the ncfc fans. Also anyone see that lad getting carried away by 6 stewards/coppers from what i hear he was asked to sit down but refused unless they made the leicester fans sit. Fair play to him.
What a bullsh*t argument, i''m not sitting down if they''re not! why don''t people just grow up and do as they are told. I had a prick behind me that kept standing in the gangway, he was asked on numerous occassions politely not to do so, but he was acting like a pathetic spoilt child, so I interveined too! he did eventually get removed for trying to pick a fight with me and calling me and f-ing c over and over again, and no I did nothing to warrant this abuse. I don''t pay £50 to get abuse off morons like this, it puts me and my girlfriend off watching football. Where is the sense of humour that made me proud to be a Norwich fan? The guy that got removed by the police and then chose to go apesh*t when in full view of the Norwich fans is an attention seeking cretin, are people really impresed by these fools?
I wonder why he tried to pick a fight with you. Perhaps it was because you didn''t mind your own business and sided with the Leicester steward.   "Why don''t people just grow up and do as they are told " - blimey, that''s pretty frightening stuff. Have you been brainwashed or something ?   As for stewards, I will never forget the moronic skinhead senior steward with his headphones patrolling up and down in front of us norwich supporters at Chelsea the other year constantly staring at us and finally liaising with police to get two of our supporters kicked out of the ground. Many stewards, not all of course, but many stewards are by definition supporters of the home team and thickos who get a kick out of being able to exercise authority over others albeit only for 90 minutes (plus injury time of course) a week. The traffic wardens of the "terraces" - seated of course, don''t stand up, it''s a crime worse than buglary. By the way, when are you going to change your avatar, you''ve been using the same one for such along time.

The Story Of A Goalkeeper'' by Philip Webster it states that Kevin Keelan was born in Calcutta. His father was ''Welsh-English'' and was a warrant officer in the British Army. His mother was Indian- Portuguese'' and came from a wealthy landowning family which had settled in India many years previously. The great man is quoted "I do not remember a great deal about India but I know we were fairly well off. Our home had seven bedrooms and we had several servants. The dhobjwallahs would come round to collect the washing. Our meals would be served to us by the servants. I suppose we were part of the aristocracy." It was after independence was granted to India that the Keelan family came to England when Kevin was just seven. It say''s in the book that they set sail from Bombay and it was a six-week voyage to Liverpool where they arrived with nowhere to go and not sure what to do. They were virtually refugees. They ended up in a hostel near Kidderminster.
Just read this because I have been away all day after posting my question. Thank you very much for this reply Nutty, I found it very very interesting. Thanks again for taking the trouble.

 10.
So to get the thread back on track, who''s going then ans what questions would you like to ask him?
You really are a bossy boots, aren''t you !
 11.

Maybe Spillane will get a game?
I''ve got a lot of time for Spillane, I think he looks the part.  Even in the last throes of Grant''s regime he put himself about.  Plus he can pass a ball forwards and has a first touch.
I agree with that, I''ve always liked him when he''s played. I don''t think he''d let us down if he was given a start. The only other central midfielder we have is Rossi Jarvis and he looks a little lightweight for me. Surely Gibbs or Henry won''t be played in central midfield, it''s not even their position and again, too lightweight. This does kind of show up the lack of strength in depth we have, though.
Hey GH, I''ve got that cigarette card !
 12. Baffling but no one seems to be able to explain this.
 13. I have been able (unfortunately) to listen to the Leicester match on Radio Nofolk via the internet this afternoon when previously this han''t been possible for "legal reasons " ?
 14. Just read the following on Google news and I now understand why NCFC attendances are so high. Nothing to do with the quality of football, no connection whatsoever with the fact that there is nothing else to do in Norfolk on mtach days/evenings, no, it''s the Delia effect !! (just joking of course, honestly..) Intersting to read the criticism "She''s clearly gone commercial" - good for Delia and long may she reign !   """ The so-called ''Delia effect'' started an egg obsession, boosting sales by an extra 54 million. Cranberries and capers were also mentioned, and both enjoyed similar success. Among the ingredients in her latest book are some unexpected entries. McCain oven-ready frozen chips and Aunt Bessie''s frozen home-style mashed potato both make the menu. As do most of the main supermarkets, each with an own-brand product name-checked and endorsed. Delia has even produced a little orange sticker to help shoppers find the products. "I''m not sure I''d buy frozen mash when you can make it so easily," one shopper told Sky News. But others were more impressed. "I probably will try what she says, of all the TV cooks she''s the most straight forward and down to earth," another said. The book is already topping the best-seller lists, but her pick of products and name-dropping of supermarkets has been raising a few foodie eyebrows. Some smaller retailers are not impressed. The Guild of Fine Foods represents independent, specialist food stores and producers. Its Chairman, Bob Farrand said: "The industry as a whole is slightly angered by some of the products she''s chosen. "Many of our members are asking what is she thinking of recommending people to buy mass produced food like this? She''s clearly gone very commercial."
 15.

Whenever i hear a representative of Plymouth, Cardiff, Hull etc. in the media nine times out of ten it`s "the potential at the club is enormous, look at the catchment area, no competition". I have never, ever, once heard any NCFC official ever say anything like that. I have heard however, plenty of quotes expressing amazement at demand for tickets and the "loyalty" of the support.
Anecdote x Number = Fact. I''m rather disappointed in you Mr Carrow, you''re so much better than that. It''s easy to prance around boasting about ''catchment areas'' and ''potential'' whilst achieving very little on the pitch. It makes you feel big and it makes the supporters think you''re ambitious. It''s called spin, but presumably it''s the right kind of spin for you [:^)]. Our board''s statements about the loyalty of NCFC fans have to be taken in the context our performances over the last few seasons. What are they supposed to say? "We''re $hit but still they come, what a bunch of mugs.". There seems to be a large group of posters, and I don''t include you in this, who are willing to blame the board for everything that goes wrong but give them no credit for anything that goes right. I''ve serious concerns over the way that the club has been run over the last few years but surely the mark of a decent human being is to give credit where it''s due?
It would take a long and rambling post to try to fully explain what i mean on this point Shack but to put it simply, i think that if a club thinks small it stays small. Some clubs think small and stay small because they can`t realistically expect anything else (Crewe, Doncaster, Southend etc.), some at least have the right to an ambitious approach because they have obvious potential to achieve large crowds. We are one of the most obvious examples of this in our league, yet i believe we still have a small country club outlook. Obviously this is yet another point where board supporters will say "oh no they don`t" but this is the impression i get from statements and actions of board members in recent years. I remember when Chase used to say in all seriousness that NCFC "have a catchment area of 120,000 people" and only a handfull of people challenged him on it. I swear some people still believe it today! Our current support is not some amazing quirk of loyalty, it is a club with huge potential getting up to something like the level of support it can expect and has had in the past. I fully agree with your last paragraph.
Just out of interest, are you able to quantify accurately what NCFC''s potential fan base is ? Is it the city of Norwich plus the population of Norfolk and, if so, what is that population ? I am asking out of pure curiosity, no other reason and not trying to make any particular point.
 16.
i too hate sky.. the way to save football would be to boycott this faceless organisation.  When sky signed the premiership deal in 1992 i think it was more a case of Desperation than shrewd business sense and foresight... No one had Satellite TV back then... the pull of WWF, MTV and early shows of the simpsons wasn''t enough to attract people to the service. Landing football meant people HAD to subscribe if they wanted to watch the game (useful for away games i''ll admit) Sky was cheap and affordable at the time, they had a monthly subscription service which most early customers could afford.  if you ask a sky subscriber what they subscribe for they might say football, Lost, SKy HD or Skyplus or whatever they want... Its worth noting that sky has over 200 channels... the majority of these channels most subscribers will NEVER watch. its worth noting that nearly all of those 200 channels are commercial based... those commercials pay for the service. Not your subscriptions.  Phone up sky''s Marketing department and ask them how much it will cost to put an advert on Sky Sports at half time vs Man Utd and Liverpool. then ask them how much it would cost to put the same advert on at midnight on sky 3? the difference would be astronomical. A chap knocked on the front door last week trying to sell me sky. he couldnt answer the question when i asked him why should i pay monthly for something which, through its advertising revenue, Should be free?  He tried to tell me that the TV Liscence pays for all commercial channels on Terrestrial Tv.. it doesnt.. it pays for the BBC, local radio, National BBC radio and the bbc.co.uk website. ITV, channel 4, Channel 5 and the free view stations are paid for by advertising.  If everyone in this country handed back their sky subscription for being charged for nothing (which is essentially what your paying for!) then the company would go bankrupt.. not because they had no subscribers but because the advertisers would pull out.. i dont work for sky and im not privy to facts and figures there... but im willing to bet that had they not of landed the football deal when they did then there would be no Sky TV today... by securing the deal they knew people would be duped into paying. they make double the money...  contrast this to Virgin Medias TV service, you can sign up to their free view package, get additional channels (including sky 1 and Setanta i believe, through a viewing card) and watch them all for FREE. theres no subscription. the Adverts are going out to a wider audience. the programmes are being made through the money made in this advertising.  If people really wanted to save football they''d hand back their subscriptions and wait for the company to wind up.... the upside? A terrestrial channel would pick up the rights.. games would be broadcast free having been paid for by advertising... the Premiership sides would get less money which would tighten the game up... hence Benefitting the smaller sides and England.  Who here has sky? just what, Exactly, are you paying for? Happy at paying for a service which, technically, should be provided for free? jas :)
Like most people I guess, I detest the adverts. We have SKY Plus and record "hour" long programmes but when we play them back we skip the adverts and the programmes actually last around 40 minutes ! So, rather than paying no fee and therefore having to endure even more ads, my ideal would be to pay an extra £10 per annum and have no adverts. Pipe dream I know. On a more generalized level, it seems to me that there are very few programmes worth watching on TV these days. As the number of channels has increased so, paradoxically, the number of quality programmes has shrunk.
 17. I travel around West and South Yorshire a great deal and I can tell you this - you have absolutely no idea of the size of populations in the areas you mention. Like I said, it really doesn''t matter to me, I am happy with my club, its identity and its potential but some of you just don''t understand the sheer size of the conurbations in Yorkshire. Kingston upon Hull and its surrounding area has a bigger population than Norfolk therefore Hull FC is an underperforming club when compared to Norwich on the basis of the ratio I already mentioned and although I''m proud of that I find the "we are big club" mantra silly. That''s all.
 18.
quote user ( And he''s the smallest man on the pitch ) Here we go again. When Kamara mentioned our huge catchment area he was talking square miles not population i.e. the whole of Norfolk. My point is that the population of Norfolk is less than the population of the conurbation of Kingston upon Hull i.e. and that''s excluding the population in their wider catchment area. I''m not that interested in comparing with Hull, it just that it was obviously topical. Instead of Hull let''s consider the following all of whom have larger, local populations than we have in Norfolk - Sheffield United and Weds, Coventry, West Brom and Wolves (I''ve always thought these are poorly attended clubs when you take into account their large fan base), Plymouth, Bristol City etc etc The valid point is that we are one of the best attended clubs on the basis of ratio of attendance to size of catchment area measured of course by the number of people living in said catchment area. So, well done to us but please don''t try and argue that we are potentially one of the biggest clubs because that''s just foolish and, I for one, an happy with who we are anyway.   Not so sure about that, Hull is fairly big but there are other teams up that way, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Doncatser, Middlesborough. I also think that Norwich have a bigger fan base throughout the country, more so than the likes of Hull, I think it stems back to our Premiership years.
Sorry Marty but when was the last time you looked at a map ?! By the way, when are you going to change your avatar or whatever it''s called ? You''ve been using the current one for a long time now.
 19. How do Hull have a potentially bigger fan base?  It is well recognised, even Chris Kamara commented on it recently, that we have a HUGE catchment area, bigger than most clubs. Having said that, I agree I am happy staying below the radar, although it does grate having so little highlights & no credit on ITV''s The Championship! ............................................................ Here we go again. When Kamara mentioned our huge catchment area he was talking square miles not population i.e. the whole of Norfolk. My point is that the population of Norfolk is less than the population of the conurbation of Kingston upon Hull i.e. and that''s excluding the population in their wider catchment area. 20.
Why have they put Hull have now gone 4 games unbeaten? wow 4 games we are now 13 games unbeaten and not a mention. No national service such as BBC or Sky has ever paid any attention to little old Norwich. yet we are probably in the top 15 biggest clubs in the country! see below from Sky website. Norwich City 1 Hull City 1 Hull extended their unbeaten run to four games as they came from a goal behind to draw at Norwich. Glenn Roeder''s men took the lead on 19 minutes with Dion Dublin meeting Lee Croft''s cross to loop a superb header over goalkeeper Boaz Myhill. But Hull restored parity on 53 minutes when Fraizer Campbell bustled his way past two defenders to fire a low strike into the net   The Duke
Of course, we''re not one of the 15 biggest clubs in the country. We may currently have a bigger attendance than many other clubs but we are far from being one of the biggest. For that matter, Hull has a much larger potential fan base than we do. I''m not trying to cause upset just trying to be factual. We have a great club and I am proud to be a Norwich fan but let''s not get carried away with size !!
