  2. If you look at it like this: OK, say we had the same 8 game run-in as we did last season (4 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses), which was not spectacular by any means, and included that shocking defeat at home to Wolves. This form wasn''t good enough to get us into the playoffs, we weren''t playing great, but we acheived 14 points. If we replicated that mediocre form, this would put us on 87 points. Therefore, in order for Sunderland to catch and overtake us, they would require no worse than 7 wins and 2 draws from their remaining 9 games. This is from a run that includes home games against the likes of Millwall, Sheff Utd, West Brom and us, and away games at Palace and Wigan. If I''m not mistaken, and without trying to sound too confident, I just might be able to say that I think... we might do it.
  3. And mine Dear Sir. I start this email with a question: why do you employ Peter Gill? This is a man who could not recite the name of the goalkeeper who has played in every game for the Nationwide Division One league leaders, the goalkeeper who has conceded the fewest in that division. That is until the player was (deservedly) called up into the England squad. He then proceeds to flippantly and ignorantly state that the only people that have heard of Robert Green live in Norfolk. Was it a light-hearted, facetious remark, or was it a lazy introduction into a piece of ''comedy journalism''. Either way, this cannot be something that you are proud to have displayed on your website. Despite not being able to construct a sentence properly (try and?), Gill also leaves out chunks of information that do not support his arguments (Francis Jeffers scored the goal in the 3-1 defeat against Australia). Please try to guard against this lethargic, predictable and messy writing style in future. Daniel Thompson
  4. We have been on Sky 4 times so far. Forest (away), Stoke (away), Forest (home), West Brom (home). They should have been on against Sunderland (away) but of course the game was postponed. Thay are also due to play Wigan (home) and Reading (away) live on Sky too. While we''re on the subject, does anyone know if the Sunderland replyed game will be on TV. It will be a shame if it is not, the Sky Sports website doesn''t say so, but it looks like it will be such an important game.
  5. Andy Reid is magic He wears a magic hat He spoke to Huck and Bren and said I''m having some of that...
  6. He becomes amazing on Champ Man 03/04 which means he will in real life aswell, obviously...
  7. I always liked: Kicking it out Throwing it in You''ve not seen nothing like Craig Fleming And whatever happened to: Malkay Mackay, clap clap, Malkay Mackay, clap clap Malkay Mackay, Malkay Mackay, Malkay Mackay, clap clap He plays for Norwich City His passing isn''t pretty He like a dram of whiskey He''s called Malkay Mackay
  8. Couldn''t make it to the game on Saturday, did we play the 4-3-3 with Huckerby on the left, McKenzie on the right and Sven in the middle, or was Hucks playing just behind the other two?
  9. You''ve never seen Spencer and Hendo in the same room together have you...? I think that crap DJ Brandon Block is exactly how Huckerby would look if he put on about 4 stone. Me and a mate went to watch the Youth Team at Old Trafford and gave the youths nicknames - there was Baby Ruel, Baby Crouch, Actual Sized McVeigh...
  10. With the rumour that we could get a Premiership quality centre back for the rest of the season, and the definite necessity to get one if/when we go up, who should Worthy drop, The Incredible Malk, or The Mighty Flem? Personally, I think that McMalky would be the man to retain his place.
  11. The reason that we cannot play Huckerby upfront with McKenzie is that we rely too much on the direct ball into the last third. When you look at other teams, they can play perfectly well with 2 flair players up front (look at Real, Arsenal, even Owen and Rooney for England). You don''t tend to see good passing, flowing teams needing a big man up front. Maybe the way to look at it is not to question whether Sven or Roberts should play with Huckerby, but how we can adjust our game to accommodate our 2 in-form strikers. Don''t get me wrong, Worthy''s system is obviously doing something right, hence our league position, but it has been frustrating in the last few games seeing posession given away so easily with a hoof up to Svensson who misses the ball completely or immediately loses it. It was plain to see against Palace that despite the neccessity to keep the ball on the deck, due to the windy conditions, we struggled, and constantly felt the need to whack the ball to Svensson, watching it fly into touch, or straight to a Palace defender.
  12. I think that complacency is not the issue, and fear is a slightly dramatic way of looking at it. Surely the most sensible way to look at the decline in form in previous weeks is that the players are suffering from the pressure they are under. A prime example of this is Huckerby. Although he has been in and out of games, he hasn''t reproduced the form he showed when he first came here. Watching him in the last few games, and something that was especially obvious against Palace, you can see that he is desperate to perform, he is over anxious, causing him to veer offside, or to try to take on 3 defenders at once when a simple ball would be the best option. Additionally, he is constantly being marked out of games. As the drawback of having such an excellent spell with the club he has made a replutation for himself and a defender is constantly on his toes. This is frustrating him and as a result he is putting himself under extra pressure. The pressure on Shack must have been immense on Saturday, the expectation of him filling in for Drury in such important games got the better of him, leading him to have a shocking game. But this is understandable, he is only young and hasn''t really had a first team run before. The main area you can see the pressure building though is in Svensson. He has been given the task of replacing Norwich''s scoring machine veteran, and his poor form is not helping his confidence. Fans are starting to get on his back, and you can see his thought proceses every time he goes near the ball: "Don''t choke, don''t choke, don''t choke... Oh, I choked." His performance against Palace was awful, I believe, due to this. If anyone can relax the players and restore the zeal they possessed mid season it is Worthy. Everyone is getting jumpy and nervous - this is understandable, but it is essential we regain our composure and give one final push for promotion. OTBC
  13. I must admit that I have never been a supporter of Worthy''s 4-3-3 system. It tends to have 2 downfalls: One, as seen at West Brom away, he plays 2 wide players up front with a big man (in this case Harper, Roberts, Rivers). In this game, the team tended to slip into a 4-5-1, which meant Roberts was too isolated. Although we were tight at the back (beaten only by a Koumas wonder goal), we never really looked threatening up front. The other, as seen at Rotherham away, is an all out attacking front row (now McKenzie, Roberts, Huckerby) which were lethal up front, but Leon and Huckers failed to tackle back, leaving the full backs exposed, hence 4-4. But, having said that, this is Gillingham, at Carrow Road. If we play Leon, Sven and Hucks, but tighten up the midfield, perhaps with the inclusion of Brennan to ensure the defence are not left exposed, this plan is so crazy it might just work! Saying that, I can''t see Worthy doing it, I would imagine he''s just going to stick with the 4-4-2 that has been good enough so far. But I reckon a little move around could shake us up a little, and supply us with something that we have been lacking lately.
  14. Check it out - Jude Law and Naomi Watts are starring in a film about Norwich City''s championship season: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0356721/
  15. I think I can say without hyperbole that Francis could be the first division''s Patrick Viera, but at times he really isn''t interested. At the start of the season he was awsome, I remember the game against Sheffield United away, he was our only player in the game. Worthy gave Mullers a bit of a run at the start of the year, but Francis came back with gusto, only for it to peter out. In the first half against the scum he was appalling, he really couldn''t be bothered to make a tackle. He improved in the 2nd half and played quite well. When he''s got it on him he is superb, box to box, tackling hard, spraying balls out to the wings, getting into the box when Roberts is knackered etc. When he is not interested he can be useless, simply making up the numbers.
  16. Although Green clearly cannot be dropped this season, I do question some aspects of his game. His shot stopping is absolutely first class, far and away the best in the division. Despite this, his presence in the area is a doubt, and he has made more than one error this season on crosses, for example a couple of errors at Rotherham were poor. He was also lucky against West Brom when Fleming''s hand prevented embarrasment for his blooper. I take your point Zipper that most keepers have a nightmare or two per season, but my point is that he''ll stop most shots that are fired at him, but his aerial ability needs work. When was the last time we saw Greeno parry a shot or let one slip through his hands. I don''t think he''s done that this season, but he has consistently looked questionable when his command of the area is put to the test. Don''t get me wrong, Greeno is a quality keeper and should clearly play for us in the Premiership, but this is an aspect of his game that he really must work on. Maybe I am being too harsh on him as he is still young and this aspect of his game should come with experience.
  17. Clearly the back 5 picks itself. I question putting Huckerby on the wing as he doesn''t seem to have the defensive work ethic, he would leave Drury exposed. I quite like the idea of him playing behind Leon and Sven, which although could leave us a little bit light at the back, we''d have Holty, Francis and Brennan/Mullers playing behind them, who all like their tackles and are happy with tracking back. And it is not as if we''re playing a top team, it''s Gillingham at Carrow Road, so it may be worth the risk. On his day, Francis is superb. When he''s not in the game and doesn''t seem interested, he''s shocking. He is an excellent player, but you''ve got to question his attitude sometimes (first half versus the binners for example)
  18. At the moment Hendo is the antithesis of Rivers, enthusiastic and hard working. Rivo was complacent when he had an automatic first team spot, and now he has to fight for his place he is disillusioned. His lethargy is costing him a place in the team. I agree that McVeigh has been ineffective - and with Brennan out (the world''s most injury prone player) maybe Rivers deserves a run out to prove that he''s still got something to offer. Easton must leave if we go up (or even if not for that matter), there''s no way he''ll get anywhere near the first team.
  19. If we went up, I think Crouchy would come back if we wanted him (and could afford him), and lets be honest, Iwan''s not going to be able to cut it again in the Premiership. What about Kents, he''s hardly had a game for Southampton, and has been training with Premiership players week in week out. We could snap him up again.
  20. I don''t think there''s any danger of becoming complacent. I don''t think a day goes by when Worthy doesn''t give a reporter some sound bite like "we haven''t won anything yet" or "there''s a long way to go". And that''s excellent, it is reassuring that we have a level headed, sensible manager at the helm. I often think how lucky we are to have Worthy in charge. When you look at other managers: Pardew, Warnock, Moore (!), Megson etc foaming at the mouth at every opportunity, desperately accusing the referee, cheating players, anyone but themselves, it makes you realise how professionally Worthy carries himself.
  21. I think that there is another reason why there are a number of tickets left for this game. I agree that the long distance and threatening fans are definitely factors, but in addition people may have been put off by the initial away ticket pre-requesite. Initially, as they did with the scum away game, the ticket office requested a certain amount of away stubs for members because of the low capacity of the ground. This may have lead to some fans feeling that due to the fact they probably wouldn''t get a ticket, they wouldn''t bother with the application process.
