  1. think i would prefer John Hartson. I see he is out of contract at Celtic in the summer and can talk to other clubs from January 1st. Wouldnt see him as a long term signing but he would be a useful asset in the months ahead.
  2. All managers make mistakes and buy players who dont fulfill their potential...Alex Feruguson has made more than a few himself (Ronaldo, Saha, Poborsky, That swedish winger who i cant remember the name of he was so good!,Djemba Djemba , Kleberson..these are just the recent ones too) but some managers only get remembered for their good signings. I still think Safri, Jonson, Doherty and Helveg may prove to be better signings as time goes on..in fact where would be be without them at the moment with all these injuries? we would have to play a team full of youngsters who would get beaten comprehensivley and have their confidence destroyed for a long time!
  3. Delia and hubby converted a lot of their loans into share so that the club didnt have to pay interest to her on loans outstanding and it also effectively made the club''s balance sheet appear a lot healthier. I dont think it''s really in the interest of any football club to be owned by lots of individuals either just as its not healthy for one person to own 100% of the club.If you had 20 people all owning 5% of the club then sooner or later one of those 20 will decide they want a controlling interest anyway and will buy enough shares off the others to give them control. Look at Man Utd at the moment..no one has a controlling interest but alot of the shareholders WANT a controlling interest and they end up squabbling over it. Although Delia and hubby have a controlling interest( i think they own 51% of the shares) they are at least in it for the pleasure of helping a club they support dearly. Not like the previous owner we used to have. We are never ever going to be in a position again where a little investment at Xmas might bring us the Premier league title as was the case just over a decade ago. I hope NCFC supporters never forget how little he cared for the club and the team!
  4. He played central midfield and played well. Did everything that i expect Worthy asked him to do..be solid, hold his position and get in amongst them. Savage was anonymous in the second half. He was ''out-savaged'' by Helveg if that makes sense!
  5. Can Delia not claim some copyright and ask for some of the income form these shirts and then make a public display of putting it towards our January transfer kitty? Now that would make a good story - Ip**** fans helping to finance our new striker!
  6. Helveg did what he was supposed to do when he came on. He kept his position, got tackles in and played simple balls allowing Mulryne to go looking for the ball a bit more. He looked an international player yesterday and i know he hasnt always looked that before. We can''t afford to keep giving the ball away in midfield and unfortunately Holt does that way too often.
  7. Actually Greeno made a few errors in the first half when coming for crosses..dont think he''s 100% fit.
  8. Been to the Brum game today..once again we looked like two different teams. First half wasnt good even tho Hucks had the best opportunity and should have scored. Why doesnt he try and take the ball round the keeper when one-on-one..he skips round defenders easily enough so why not goalkeepers? Second half we were a different team.. playing the ball to feet and showing some confidence on the ball. It was quite funny watching Savage racing around like a headless chicken chasing the ball while Mullers and Co passed it around him. Holt just wasnt in the game at all and was way off the pace and it was when he came off and Helveg and McKenzie came on we looked the better team. Helveg`s first touch of the ball he lost it and i thought ''here we go again'' but after that he got into properly and showed his class and strength. We look a better team with Mulryne in to cos he`s always wanting the ball and rarely wastes it.. he also seems to have improved his tackling and heading skills too and won more than a few challenges. McKenzie also made a difference. It isnt just his enthusiasm, he''s quick and strong too. Anyway it''s another useful point gained and if we cam follow it up with at least 4 points in our next two home games then things will be looking much brighter.
  9. He deserves an extended run out now i believe. Though i would never question the commitment of any of the players who have appeared so far there is no doubt that some of them are simply not good enough for this level of football. Helveg hasnt made so many appearances for Denmark by being an average player. I do wonder tho if initially at least we could question his level of fitness. Lets hope he gets the chance to show us what he really can do!
  10. I have said before but Eddy and Holt always give 110% but its not enough in this league. We have players on the bench (Helveg, Safri, Mulryne) all internationals who havent yet had a fair try. Eddy has been at fault in a lot of our goals conceded recently especially on his positional play. A lot of goals have benn conceded by players arriving at the far post to tap or head home.
  11. I think we have to accept that its going to take a huge effort to stay up BUT....the teams that stay up are usually those that FINISH the season strongest not start it strongest. So in that respect we are still in there.. I would like to see some of the other players given an opportunity tho. Eddy and Holt look out of their depth a lot of the time even tho they both give 110%. We have already got other options in both those areas in Helveg, Mullers and Safri. I think they all deserve a decent chance now. Also our lack of height at the back is starting to show and i have no doubt other teams have noticed this and are exploiting it so we need to try either Shackell or Doc in centre defence. Thats my say anyway....
  12. there is no way West Ham will sell him in January if they are in with a chance of Promotion!!! It would be like us selling Hucks last Jan!!!
  13. I would give Leon a rest...and give Bentley a go up front...lets see if he has learnt his lesson. He has the ability to frighten teams and score goals so lets try him up front with Svensson. I have a feeling it could work!
  14. I do get the impression the players still dont believe they are going to win a game...we hear a lot about '' if we keep playing like this it will come''... i would rather hear that they are going to MAKE it happen rather than WAITING for it to happen. So much of football is about self belief and confidence. Look at Arsenal, a month ago they weere beating everyone without any problem..one defeat and they cant even beat the teams at the bottom!
  15. Just maybe Leicester still owe them money for him and cant pay it back any other way! I do know Leicester are in a real mess financially still!
  16. Whatever our opinions we still need to stick together..thats why Portsmouth survived last season. My only point to make would be that Doherty is playing instead of Svensson cos at least he gets hold of the ball and makes the opposition work and think a bit. Sven was great last season but the games he has played this year he has done neither. I think the Premier league is a step to far for him but would love to be proved wrong. Holt is working harder than ever to prove us wrong so i am sure the other fringe players can too. I would also be tempted to try Bentley up front with Doherty and let Hucks play left midfield/striker as last year, especially at home games.Hucks is more the creative player than Bentley but i think if Bentley played closer to Doherty and the opposition goal, his shooting would be more productive cos he can certainly strike a ball well. Also the opposition always put more than one man on Hucks when he has the ball so there would be more space up front then. Lets see how much stick i get for my opinions lol
  17. I wouldnt knock Jonson..i have a feeling he may turn out to be the best buy of them all when he is settled in. It cant be good living in hotel rooms in a foreign country to start with. Once he settles into Norfolk life i think he will be a supreme asset to the team.
  18. I think he has done ok too..to be honest Drury is the one who at times as made a few bad mistakes..particulalry his heading..he too often heads his clearances back into the danger zone....but then the Premier is new to most of the players and they are all adapting well. Holt is improving game by game..Flem has been outstanding as has Charlton. They were up against probably the most powerful header of the ball in Cole on saturday and they coped reaLLY WELL. Bring on the next game!
  19. Well said Susie B. And the more they enjoy it, the more they will give to still be in the Premiership next season. I have beem well impressed so far. Yes i know we still need to do even better and start winning games, but we havent had any of that ''Rabbits caught in the headlights'' stuff like so many teams who get promoted. Bring on the next game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Maybe they are burning.............they should be now anyway lol
  21. well done..give the ball to beckham for his next penalty and guaranteed u wont ever see it again llol I have had to endure Wolves supporters for too long too...they seem very quiet these days tho..i wonder why...Jones could be the next for the sack...glad he chose Wolves over us three years ago  lol
  22. my guess is, souness has been brought in to bring some of the players back into line..dyer,bellamy and that defender they got fron down the road...cant even remember his name now lol.Cud be an interesting few months at St James Park. And while on the subject of Dyer, would any of us get away with refusing to do the job we were asked to?? I think the sack would have been forthcoming for us normal people...and he ONLy earns £50k per week.
  23. Always liked the all dark blue away kit with the yellow collar and cuffs that we wore in the eufa cup gamne against vitesse arnheim.......also all the yellow shirts with green sleeves especially the fosters one...mid to late 80`s i think that was.........my oldest shirt i have is the admiral kit from about 1979 i would guess.anyone have an older one? like alot of the other posters on here i cant bear to throw any away..i must have about 13 different ncfc shirts in all. If i can find them all out i will try and list them...then maybe thats a bit too sad...lol
  24. If anyone is interested, the Clubs accounts can be downloaded from the companies house website...www.companieshouse.gov.uk.. go to webCheck in the top right hand corner and enter the Clubs company number 154044..and for a small fee (£4 i think) , you can download a copy of the last submitted accounts. Its all above board and legal so dont worry..all companies have to submit accounts for scrutinisation by any member of the public every year. If you look at the balance sheet you will see that the problem for the club is that its creditors far outweigh its debtors..most of the clubs assets are held in land and buildings and the only way to pay its creditors would be to either sell the land and buildings, increase its income or borrow more money. Thats why they cant go out and spend £5 million on one player at the moment. But i suspect the thinking is that if they are fairly prudent this year and maybe pay off some of the creditors and either stay up or go down and comeback the next year, they will be in a far stronger position to speculate and be able to take more risks... Sorry if this sounds too boring for words but i have had my accountant`s hat on lol....... hopefully it does make some sense to some of u.This is why WBA can spend big money on some players now but didnt two years ago!
