Foe One Week Only...Wazzy's Ref Watch
The Great Drinkell replied to First Wazzock's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Biggest decision the ref got wrong today was the red card, i''m not doubting there was contact made but certain not intentional or with excessive force, Had Martin stayed on then Fulham would probably been more attacking in the second half and beaten us 3-1 Agree the time wasting was poor but until the refs actually penalise teams/players with red cards then it will be part and parcel of the game, -
Firstly a couple of thank yous, to Hoola for swapping dates at late notice - and to NN for arranging it. now for the picks; If we hadn''t been looking at the return of IP and MD at full backs I would of thought Reading were the value bet of the weekend at nearly 3/1 but with these 2 returning I think we will be more solid at the back and a bigger threat going forward - therefore can''t bring myself to predict this one so I''ve chosen Fleetwood who have hit form at just the right time, despite a slip up last week against an Oldham side who are struggling at the wrong end of the table. Oldham V Fleetwood AWAY win For the Match bet I think this will be a really tough match for us and think with the extra need Reading have they might just squeak out the win so I''ll reluctantly predict a 1-2 away win. Good luck to both pickers.

It''s time to sack Dean keily - anybody who thinks McGregor is better than Ruddy shouldn''t be anywhere near a football club.- 160 replies

This week looks a tough week in the English leagues, but it''s what I know so i''ll try and find NBS a winner. John Sheridan has always been a good fit with Oldham and looks again to be guiding them to safety and making them hard to beat. This week they have a trip to Southend who are on the brink of the play off places and desperately need a win at 4/5 I''ll take a risk that Phil Browns team will have just to much for Oldham. Southend V Oldham Home win. For Crabby I''ll predict a score draw Good luck to both pickers.

With no top league domestic football this week and my knowledge & interest in international football very limited I''m sticking with the lower leagues and one team who are flying beaten once in 10 I believe (Stevenage) have the short trip to Cambridge who seem to be struggling at home - although I expect a close game I expect a confident Stevenage team to be just a little to good. and at 11/5 this is my value bet of the week. Cambridge v Stevenage AWAY win Probably won''t see it in the final 6 though but the very best of luck to Purple to start us growing that fund again. Great photo''s from last Saturday NN and I''m good for the 8th. April.

Whittaker v Barnsley
The Great Drinkell replied to Tumbleweed's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I''ve nothing against Whits at right back I also thought he did okay on Saturday, his poor passes were due to him not being left footed and herein lies the problem. Why are we in position that we have no left sided players ? If we haven''t then couldn''t we either play Wildschut in front to help him out or play 3 at the back. -
Mark Noble summed up the "New football fan" perfectly. It''s part of the issue with football today.

Thanks for the memories - I''m sure we''ll meet again just like we did with Chris Houghton. Good luck for the future.

To find a team bottom of the table playing away and the home team are odds against suggest value to me (or bookies who are missing something) although inconsistent themselves CREWE are surely good enough to beat a very poor Newport team Crewe V Newport Home win For the Match bet I''ll take Norwich to win 3-1 with Elliott Bennett to score at any time. Good luck Pickers.

McGovern
The Great Drinkell replied to lake district canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
People have short memories, McGovern was awful earlier in the season, once he felt his position was safe bang average keeper and one not many in the Championship would swap for their''s. Ruddy can be brilliant (Newcastle) but is still prone to make mistakes. Definitely need an upgrade next season - Joe Hart? (joking) -
A bit late for the match bet where I would of suggested the old playing against my old tam scenario with Hooper to score at any time. For Yankee''s consideration I will offer Yeovil V Luton Away win and my best wishes for the final 6

What a great set of fans/supporters we have. This is why my season ticket is being passed on, not the team or the manager who has given us some great entertainment this season so far, and yes some disappointments but that''s why we love football surely? I wouldn''t want many of the people on this forum as my "friends" in a difficult time that''s for sure.

Wishing both Hector and snake all the very best with their picks, I am going for Crewe V Stevenage AWAY win And for Sunday I''ll take Naismith to mark his return with the first goal combined with Norwich to win by 2 clear goals

I think Rowatt would be a very large backward step, Warburton''s a good shout but always seems to leave a club under a storm for some reason. I''m still behind AN personally and will be until the season ends.
-
A question for the "get rid now" posters, if the club were to release AN who would you want in charge NOW, assuming they would have to be available and then you would be sticking long term with your choice (as he would have had chance to asses the team) If we wait until the end of the season, the club will have given the current manager every chance, then if they perceive that the job hasn''t been done to their satisfaction then surely the other options available then will be greater... potentially Mr Lambert and Mr Bruce might yet be available. even Neil Warnock :-)

Burton Match Thread
The Great Drinkell replied to Thecanaryfan's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
We made the mistake of sacking CH before the end of the season, give AN the full season if we are not top 6 at the end of the season then lets reassess and go again. I actually believe we should be top 5 this season, but Huddersfield are a surprise...........it could be worse we could be Villa. -
Agreed Tettey played his roll well - but Ruddy was at his best tonight, not just his saves, - remember if Mitrovic had scored when one on one that probably would have been game over add to that the quick throw to Wes for the first goal was invaluable in the result ending as it did.

Wildschut - implications?
The Great Drinkell replied to Salopian's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Think some of the reaction has been a little harsh. In pretty much every game he''s played we have been on the back foot and yesterday I thought he got back and supported Whits well. Wide midfield isn''t just about getting forward (something the Murphy''s need to improve on) and personally I thought we lost our shape a bit when he went off. Plenty of players take a little while to settle in, Pinto for instance, and I think we will see more from him in games to come.
My view as well Hairy, the first 5-10 mins everything was being targeted towards our right, AN changed Wildshut and Murphy and this reduced this threat and gave us the momentum. - as soon as Wildshut was replaced their midfield took over again especially when Diame came on. we just got out fought.
