  1. Chase joined the board in 1982. The fire was October 1984. Chase became chairman in 1985 . Depends what you mean by “his watch”
  2. One thing is for sure that the transparency of running Norwich City now in comparison to the Chase era is remarkable. No one really knew what the club was up to until it all unravelled with (what turned out to be bank lead) player sales like Jon Newsome . I loved those times , and loved the European trips. The club seemed in a good place until such time when it was not . It was the highest league positions that we have achieved and genuinely competed. That won’t happen again without serious finance behind the club which currently isn’t going to happen. I also loved watching us go up under Lambert and watching Emi and co destroy the Championship. So it’s peaks and troughs . We do have to move on though, otherwise we all sound like a team banging on about the past …
  3. Anyone know if we are having to show proof of double vax to get in this Saturday?
  4. Be higher up the table with the current City squad ? Not interested in “Happy Clapper” or “Moaning Whatever” cobblers . Just an interesting debate . Personally , I have no idea. I could be persuaded either way….
  5. Re EPL FFP - Newcastle are rumoured to be ready to spend £200m in Jan. Imagine the wages associated with those transfer fees. Losses could be eye watering (on paper) but Man City got away with it for years. I seem to recall a ludicrous amount of the Money from Sheikh Mansour being recorded as front of shirt sponsorship in their accounts. FFP will be tested but I wouldn’t hold your breath . UEFA and EPL don’t really know what to do with the FFP rules since the impact on losses by clubs due to Covid . A decent Russian /Abu Dhabi/ Saudi funded lawyer will run rings around it .
  6. Martin Chivers? I doubt very much sending messages to Norwich fans is top of his agenda?
  7. Gilmour doesn’t play. Chelsea consider taking him back. Top journalism.
  8. Yikes . Now you come to mention it there really is a lot of guff on here . Thanks for succinctly summarising it . I don’t need to read anything else this season. Toodle pip.
  9. Well let me tell you this . If we beat Chelsea we will have 3 more points than if we lose . Hard to believe I know . You are lucky to have a genius like me around to point these things out .
  10. What an unbelievably pointless thread . “What would be great is if we could beat Chelsea”. If only any else had thought of that . Trawling through this sort of guff makes this message board harder to use than it needs to be .
  11. Do you mean Sutton? . I still have got the tickets for the Cup game in 1989. Admittedly I didn’t apply and paid on the gate but that’s not the point .
  12. So what ? Let the mangers say what they like . All the precious protection of refs is nonsense . If Hansenhuttl talks cobblers then we can be the judge , rather than some kn0b in a blazer .
  13. Good news. My source was a bloke I vaguely know I met in the City whilst walking to Mini Tesco. He is a massive City fan and was absolutely convinced that the news he had been given was true ! It was pretty detailed too (I won’t bother with that bit) Phew . I hadn’t seen the pics . Thanks for that 👍
  14. Has anyone said “why aren’t we Newcastle” yet? That’s always very amusing.
  15. The club’s rationale was average demand for previous away games and a risk between £3k or £1.5k tickets . If the club didn’t sell all £3k they were committed to buy the rest. I still can’t see that comparing average demand for Man City or Burnley had much bearing on a prestige London away fixture ? Arsenal would have been the best comparison?
  16. Nasty rumours that we won’t be seeing Normann for a while ?
  17. Next level time wasting Mello. I think he was down to his underpants when he walked off. Happy days !
  18. The issue isn’t with what this ref did , but what most other refs do. How many times have you seen a team at CR waste time from the outset ? And yet the Goal Keeper gets booked in the 87th minute for taking too long to restart the game ? Remember Middlesbrough? This sort of reffing would have sorted it out . Another example of a ref correctly applying a law , but in a way that football doesn’t do consistently . Ireland want a draw away. They were slowing the game down .
  19. That's a classic article , taken from another article, that doesn't actually say anything. Buendia cannot demand to start (as far as we know he has demanded anything) , it isn't a "worry" (no one said it was ) and he might (or might not) start against Wolves. In other news, according to Cambridge Canary , Graham Paddon's Beard cannot demand that he becomes King of the World , even though GPB hasn't said anything of the sort, and it isn't a concern that GPB may not be King of the World just yet. (or indeed ever) .
