1. The real shame of Gunny''s demise was that the failure was completely inevitable. We all knew it would end in disaster and it has. PS Don''t get me started on Sutch. Who can forget Delia telling us at a meeting that Danny Mills was inferior to Sutch is every department? Soon after that Mills was playing for England and DS was struggling to get in the Southend side.
2. How do I get into these things? Brentford on a Tuesday night with my 17 year old son and his mate. I''m too old for this. PS Do they still make Nylons?
3. Go to Bed Bury Yellow. You have been drinking . I can always tell.
4. Any suggestions on where to park for the Brentford game?
5. Well that clinches it then . In order to bring an over stressed manager to NCFC, with no hope of a transfer budget we show him the home dressing room. reis definately the whiff of a bin in this one folks. Pete I suggest you delete this and we move on....
6. That''s a very interesting comment TB and I''m not being argumentative , but on what exactly do you base your belief that he is a "good goalkeeper"? Have you seen him play? Is it his playing record at a decent standard of Pro Football? Or is it just that you have been told that he is ? And there is the issue. We are told that these guys are up to standard. And sadly many of them aren''t.
7. "We should also never forget his kind gesture of letting the club know via the local press that he was looking to move elsewhere 2 days before the start of the season. The man is a true professional, in every sense of the word" Absolutely spot on Blah x 3. You are also forgeting his abilty to Rugby Tackle opponents in the penalty area? Also, what is all this about "settling in the south of the country"? Last time I drove to the South coast it took me about 2 1/2 hours. Hardly three weeks mule ride is it?
8. What a moving, truly inspirational post. You and your family have my very best wishes my friend. Keep the faith.
9. It''s the in depth interview with Stephen Fry that is the best bit. Nearly all of the questions are longer than the answers... including his informative responses of "Me!", "Sadly Not" , "Not Telling" and "Both". I feel like I know him personally now.
10. The Oserver is owned by The Guardian isn''t it? And after 16 years of ownership it has yet to make a profit, and the plug is likely to be pulled. This sort of journalism is probably why!
11. The main problem with a VC buying a football club is, as you say, the exit strategy. Looking to find a buyer to realise a profit is very difficult and actually at the moment I can''t think of an example. In the case of most of the investment we are talking about here it is a distressed purchase where in fact none of the parties have "bought" very much at all, simply taken over the liabilities as in the case of our binner chums. Mucus Evans will look to make a profit in income terms over what he has put in AND he gets the interest on the loans. It does all depend on getting to the premiership though otherwise his exit will be distressed too. Here''s hoping.
12. I fear that we are slowly losing it anyway WM. As I say, I hope I''m wrong.
13. Thanks for that Cam. Agree entirely on the Notts Co manager McParland. He looks pretty uneasy during an interview yesterday.
14. Well the proof will be in the eating Yelverton, but I would rather be in the Binners shoes than ours at the moment...and it is all down to investment and taking over the debt. The fact is that without it, Notts Co (and us by the way) are going nowhere so there really is nothing to lose. If it carries on as is we will stay in this division until we slip out of the back door. Hope I''m wrong.
15. Regardless of the grammer, spelling or sexuality of the post, the point being made is a good one. The idea that no party is interested in investing in football clubs is clearly a nonsense as we have seen once again recently. Notts Co, Southampton, Everton; a full range of the footballing spectrum all attracting investment. However, slap an unrealistic price tag on ANYTHING and it wont be sold. PS Could someone spell check that for me ? Ta.
16.
Talking to yourself is the first sign of madness.
What''s the second sign?
17. My ex employers were bought by Towergate. And they certainly were not "ailing" . As usual IBA you are talking squit. Neither are Smith and Pinching, Morgan Law, Country Mutual and other local brokers bought by PC. His business model isn''t my cup of tea but to say he is a parasite is crazy. Have you noticed that we are in the third division? The boards fault. End of.
18. I certainly am not suggesting that Delia or any of the board have done anything fraudulent. It was simply the idea of creating a Novel, in the style of Dan Brown, out of the conspiracies that surrounds the Club. Mister Chops....if you do get your novel published I would hope you give me 10% for coming up with the idea....
19.
Basically suggested that Delia had been defrauding the club & it woud come to light if due diligence was performed.
Not so Ron. It said Imagine if she had. No worse than Has Crofts sale paid off Doncaster? All speculation.
20. Did anyone get a chance to read my theoretical post this morning on why Delia may not be able to stand down? It seems to have disappeared! Curious, bearing in mind it''s content was totally hypothetical?
21.
Shacks would be a great signing, I''m pleased that he proved the critics wrong when he came back.
To be honest Mr B...the people he proved wrong were idiots who don''t understand the game. Shacks is a good player, certainly one of the best central defenders ever to come out of the youth system. Play him at left back however....
